Chadwick Boseman is set to star in Anthony and Joe Russo’s upcoming cop thriller 21 Bridges. The Russo Brothers and Boseman first worked together on Captain America: Civil War, and retained a friendship while filming Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. The plot for 21 Bridges goes as follows: “21 Bridges follows an embattled NYPD detective who is thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair cop killers after uncovering a massive and unexpected conspiracy. As the night unfolds, lines become blurred on who he is pursuing, and who is in pursuit him. When the search intensifies, extreme measures are taken to prevent the killers from escaping Manhattan as the authorities close all 21 Bridges to prevent any entry or exit from the iconic island.”
A new trailer for 21 Bridges premiered at San Diego Comic-Con, and it features a deeper look at the plot. Sienna Miller, Stephan James, Keith David, and Taylor Kitsch star alongside Boseman, and the film is set to hit theaters on September 27. Check out the new trailer below.

It’s been known for quite some time that Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall were set to reunite in Paramount’s Coming To America 2. Nothing was set in stone though, much like the years-long rumors Bad Boys 3 coming together. It looks like things worked out for both franchises though. As reported by Deadline, Arsenio Hall has ficially signed on to reprise his role as Semmi in the sequel to one Eddie Murphy’s most iconic films. At the time Coming To America’s release, 1988, there were little to no original powerful and rich black figures being portrayed in films. Murphy is looking to recreate that feeling in today’s post-Black Panther climate, where audiences are pushing for more diversity.
Deadline reports that Murphy will return as the spoiled prince Zamunda, Prince Akeem. Akeem becomes bored with potential marriage partners that are complacent and travels to Queens, New York to find a strong-willed woman to wed. In the sequel, Akeem learns about a long-lost son and must return to America to meet the potential heir to the throne Zamunda. Craig Brewer is directing while Black-ish creator Kenya Barris is writing the screenplay. A theatrical release is slated for December 2020.
Westworld is hands down the best show on HBO now that Game Of Thrones is over. The cast Evan Rachel Wood, Tessa Thompson, Ed Harris, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, and James Marsden is magnificent. The show is based on an old school movie the same name, but there are major difference between the updated HBO series and the film from 1973. It’s hard to dive into the plot without revealing any spoilers, but if you know, you know. The basic plot the show revolves around an amusement park filled with life-like robots who do not know they are robots. Wealthy clients come and play in the amusement park by killing, having sex with, and going on adventures with the robots. Of course, things quickly spiral downhill.
San Diego Comic-Con is currently going down, and HBO released a debut trailer for Westworld season 3 during the celebrations. The trailer brings the main characters out into the real world, something that has only been shown briefly in previous seasons. Now that the robots have made it to the real world, it looks like a plan is unfolding to remain hidden while more devious plots unravel. Check out the trailer for season 3 below.
For argument’s sake, Chance The Rapper‘s fans on the Eastern perimeter Australia are within their right to be displeased with having their concert tickets annulled on less than 24-hours notice. On the other hand, to assume that Chance The Rapper’s undisclosed illness is an utter fabrication, akin to playing hooky on the day a chemistry test, is a rather cruel assessment the situation, his character – seeing as Chance has a mostly-unblemished attendance record in previous years.
And yet, that alone fell short entering the minds festival attendees voicing their displeasure on Twitter, where the brunt the backlash was focused. As reflected in the above statement posted by Chance’s would-be hosts, the Splendour In The Grass festival committee, who then fered up a replacement (Hilltop Hoods) in an attempt to assuage the embittered ticket holders.
It didn’t seem to matter that Chance The Rapper had taken the proper recursive action; the damage had been done. As depicted in a news post published by the DailyMail, the most unyielding the ticket holders took to Twitter demanding a doctor’s letter as a burden pro, and nothing less. In the end, the overlapping trip from the United States to New South Wales is a daunting one, even for the most seasoned travelers. The ever-conscionable Chance The Rapper will likely have to arrange for a do-over showing in Australia if he hopes to ever recover from the bitter taste he’s left with concert-goers in New South Wales. Such is the rule honor it would seem.
West Coast veteran and hip-hop legend Ice Cube was quick to defend his brand online after The Ringerpublished an article entitled “Joe Johnson Is the Big3’s First God.” While the name seems harmless enough, it is followed by the tag line, “Have you ever wondered what would happen if a seven-time NBA All-Star played in a three-on-three league against a bunch washed retirees?” The writer the piece, Rodger Sherman, tweeted a link to the article which caught the attention Cube. The result was a concise yet stinging reproach. “This is very disrespectful. Washed? I’d like to see you get your ass out there with them,” wrote Cube after retweeting the article.
Public Enemy’s Chuck D hopped in the conversation as well, sub-tweeting his support for Cube. “Cube THAT same person would pass the Fcuk Out after a 45 second argument,” he wrote. The article in question does call players washed at once point, but then takes a step back to reassess the statement. “The Big3 originally seemed like a way for washed ex-ballers to con fans into financing their retirements half-assed pickup games,” writes Sherman. “Three years in, though, the league has survived and carved out a niche,” he continues. “The players are increasingly NBA-adjacent, and everyone appears generally interested in winning.”
The Watchmen movie from 2009 is a classic. Even though the plot did drag, it did play out like a comic in such a literal sense that some the movie’s flaws can be forgiven. Now, ten years later, HBO is set to relaunch the movie as a show. The series, which has the same title as the film and the comic book which started the craze, will take place in an alternate reality though. Showrunner Damon Lindel (The Leftovers) stated, “We have no desire to ‘adapt’ the twelve issues Mr. Moore and Mr. Gibbons created thirty years ago.” He continued to hint at a fresh story based within the same lore. “Those issues are sacred ground and they will not be retread nor recreated nor reproduced nor rebooted, They will, however, be remixed,” he explained.
HBO released a new trailer for the series on Saturday (July 20) during San Deigo Comic-Con. The plot for the show was published as: “This drama series embraces the nostalgia the original groundbreaking graphic novel the same name while attempting to break new ground its own.” Watchmen is slated to touch down this October and stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Tim Blake Nelson, Don Johnson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Adelynn Spoon, Lily Rose Smith, Frances Fisher, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Jacob Ming-Trent, and Tom Mison. Check out the new trailer below.
The reprieve Quality Control’s Control the Streets series dominated the proceedings this week, thanks to a star-studded cast featuring Wheezy, Saweetie, City Girls on the surface. As such, “Baby” performed by the infantile duo DaBabyLil Baby, grabbed a spot on our FIRE EMOJI playlist this week. Hip-hop enthusiasts will be asked to wait another month for the full unveiling Vol. 2 on August 16.
Elsewhere on the docket, A$AP Ferg managed to keep his buzz going strong with “Wam” featuring MadeinTYO, the latest teaser earmarked for his Floor Seats project, due in the not-so-distant future. Ronny J was also fortunate to place amongst this week’s finalist, f the strength “Lights Out” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and an ever-improving Rich The Kid.
Missing out on the list by the slimmest deadlines was DaBaby’s reworked remix for “Suge,” later co-opted by Nicki Minaj within the balance her Megatron persona. Otherwise, a majority the submissions are comprised holdovers from week’s past, notwithstanding the stellar inclusion Lil West’s “Bad” amidst the rippled effect returning guests such as Post Malone and Tory Lanez. News arrived earlier today, that André 3000 joined the cast the upcoming AMC series, Dispatches From Elsewhere, and now, we see yet another hip hop/entertainment crossover, as Kid Cudi joins the cast for Italy-set HBO limited series, We Are Who We Are. This marks Cudi’s third collaboration with HBO, having previously starred in Make It In America, and set to appear in Westworld‘s 3rd season. The project is being directed by the mind behind epic LGBT love story, Call Me By Your Name, and the Suspiria remake, Luca Guadagnino, for his television debut, the Hollywood Reporter revealed. An instagram account has also been created as a way to promote the series – which doesn’t have a release date set yet – with individual pictures each the cast members posted.
Kyle Korver will be donning the Milwaukee Bucks’ colors next season, after striking a one-year deal in the latter stages NBA free agency. his agent Jeff Schwartz informed ESPN his client’s decision this morning, all but ending the speculation over his final landing spot, rumored to have come down to a close decision between Eastern Conference rivals Milwaukee and Philadelphia, with the former winning over in the end.
Korver’s decision to bolster the Bucks’ title chances makes for a reunion with coach Mike Budenholzer, whom he played for 5-years with the Atlanta Hawks, for what was ostensibly his peak-run as an NBA player. During that stretch, Korver garnered the lone NBA All-Star nod in 2015, alongside three his Hawks’ teammates, Al Horford, Jeff Teague, and Paul Millsap.
The Kyle Korver deal is a cost-effective solution to replacing the perimeter shooting they lost when Nikola Mirotic fled the NBA for European pastures this fseason. The same can be Philadelphia’s interest in his services, as a replacement for the outgoing JJ Redick, who joined the upstart New Orleans Pelicans on a two-year basis.
The Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Milwaukee Bucks remain hopeful they can compensate for the loss Malcolm Brogdon in their goal doing one better than the Eastern Conference championships. Notwithstanding the addition Kyle Korver, there’s a hope an improved Giannis can bring this team to new heights in 2019-2020. What do you make the roster shake-ups, and their effect on the Eastern Conference title picture? Comment below.
If you were to do a very quick Google search on the term “Helicopter Parent,” you would find out that it’s defined as “a parent who takes an overprotective or excessive interest in the life their child or children.” This particular concept is mostly seen in the world sports, where parents try to do everything they can so their kid can achieve their goals. Unfortunately, this can lead to some overbearing parenting that in many instances, hurts the child’s ability to grow. With this definition in mind, it wouldn’t be surprising if LaVar Ball was the first person you thought . If there was ever a first-team all-helicopter parent, he would definitely be the captain.
At this point, LaVar is a household name in the world basketball thanks to the way he’s managed his three sons, Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo. When LaVar first burst onto the scene, he was just like any other parent who wanted to see their kid be successful. He was involved in their decision making and their training, although he quickly expanded his reach within his son’s careers. Whether it be creating a whole new sportswear brand, pulling his kids out school, or publicly criticizing coaches, LaVar has done it all.
Having said all that, one question still remains. Has LaVar’s antics hurt or helped his kids? It may be too early to answer such a question but with everything that’s happened with LaVar and the Big Baller Brand over the past couple months, it would be a disservice not to explore such a query.

Basketball fans were introduced to LaVar while his oldest song Lonzo was playing for the UCLA Bruins. At the time, Lonzo was one the best prospects in the country and LaVar was well aware this. LaVar was also aware the fact that the Lakers were a lottery team back in 2017 and would be in need a star point guard. Throughout the season, LaVar would plant seeds about Lonzo’s desire to play in Los Angeles and how well he would fit in with their system. Eventually, the Lakers would secure the second overall pick in the draft and sure enough, they selected the one-and-done Bruins star. This would be the first and last time LaVar would make good on a promise.
Before Lonzo had played a single game with the Lakers, LaVar was comparing him to Magic Johnson on shows like First Take. From the get-go, LaVar was setting Lonzo up with expectations that he could never fulfill. Some people thought LaVar was simply a father who had confidence in his sons, but really, it was a marketing tactic to bring attention to his family and the Big Baller Brand.
Once Lonzo started playing with the Lakers, it was clear that he had a lot work to do. Ball’s rookie season was full inconsistent play and rocky shooting performances. Defensively, Lonzo had proven himself to be quite underrated and as far as his passing game goes, he’s a stud. Regardless, his Lakers career lasted all two seasons, before being shipped f to the New Orleans Pelicans in a blockbuster trade. After the trade, LaVar got on First Take and said he wanted the deal to happen all along, despite saying Lonzo should stay in L.A. Instead letting his son embark on a new chapter in his career, LaVar decided to make it about himself. Perhaps the perception around Lonzo would be different if not for LaVar. Had he come into the league with reasonable expectations, Lonzo would be seen as an adequate player with a ton untapped potential. In many respects, he’s still that type player but until LaVar lets him grow on his own, it’s going to be tough to progress in the league.
Moving away from Lonzo, LaVar has also had a big impact on LiAngelo and LaMelo’s careers. Starting with LiAngelo, the middle Ball brother followed in Lonzo’s footsteps and played with UCLA. LiAngelo didn’t make too much an impact with the team and was seen as more a shooter who didn’t have too much NBA potential. In his freshman year, LiAngelo was arrested for shoplifting in China and soon after, LaVar pulled him f the team.
LaVar’s most recent basketball endeavor involves LaMelo who revealed last month that he would be going overseas next season to play with the Illawarra Hawks the Australian Basketball League. On the surface, this sounds like a great idea because it will let LaMelo play alongside adults while also getting paid for his efforts. This can only be good for his development going forward but course, in true LaVar fashion, he had to go and make grand proclamations about his son. While appearing on First Take, LaVar said LaMelo would be the first overall pick in the 2020 draft which is a bold take, to say the least. LaMelo certainly has a ton potential but making a prediction like that so early on is exactly why a negative narrative exists around Lonzo right now.
As for the Big Baller Brand, well, that’s another strike against LaVar. The Ball family patriarch made some pretty great points when he first unveiled the family-run sportswear effort. For LaVar, being able to give his sons their own brand was much more beneficial than signing a deal with Nike. At the end the day, your brand is what’s going to bring in the money and LaVar was on the precipice something great. Unfortunately for Ball, poorly made shoes and overpriced apparel led to less-than-stellar sales and a brand that was seen as more a novelty than a competitor to juggernauts like Jordan Brand and Adidas.
With all this in mind, there is a clear issue at hand. At every single turn, LaVar’s obsession with convincing us him and his sons’ greatness has failed him. After two years in the league, Lonzo isn’t anywhere close to achieving the same success as Magic Johnson, while LiAngelo is destined to never play a single minute in the league. Barring a miracle, the Big Baller Brand is on the verge folding which is yet another example LaVar putting his foot in his mouth. LaMelo’s fate remains to be seen but if LaVar continues to increase the expectations for him, another Lonzo situation could be in the works.
Obviously, Ball knows what’s best for his own kids but at the same time, there comes a point where moderation is required. Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo have more talent than any casual basketball could ever ask for but until they’re able to do their own thing, it’s going to be next to impossible for them to escape the noise. It’s clear that lty expectations have hurt them to a point where NBA fans roll their eyes at the very mention their name. If LaVar took a step back and let his sons play, the narrative would quickly change for the better.
The first movie focused on The Walking Dead character Rick Grimes will now run in theaters rather than on AMC reports Variety. AMC announced their big plans for Rick Grimes at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday in a promotional video. A short teaser for the film played, which ended with the words “Only In Theaters.” No release date has been set for the film. The Walking Dead chief content ficer Scott Gimple will serve as the writer for the film. AMC had originally planned to begin production on the movie this year, but it is unclear if that is still the plan.
The Walking Dead also premiered the trailer for its 10th season, airing on Sunday, October 6. The new season welcomes newcomers Thora Birch and Kevin Carroll to the cast, while Danai Gurira (Michonne) revealed at Comic-Con that she would be exiting the show after this season. Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Melissa McBride (Carol) will now be the longest-serving cast members on the show (if they survive season 10).
AMC also announced a third untitled series to join the growing Walking Dead universe. The third series will tell the story the first generation kids to grow up during the zombie apocalypse behind walls, where they never faced the epidemic up close. AMC’s second show in the universe, Fear the Walking Dead, was just picked up for a sixth season.
Juul Labs CEO Kevin Burns has issued an apology to the parents kids using his company’s product. Less than a year ago, the FDA labeled teen Juul use an “epidemic,” and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that over two-million high school and middle school students vaped in 2017. In CNBC’s Vaporized: America’s E-cigarette Addiction, Burns says “It’s not intended for them. I hope there was nothing that we did that made it appealing to children]. As a parent a 16-year-old, I’m sorry for them, and I have empathy for them, in terms what the challenges they’re going through.”

Adam Bowen, the counder Juul, has also admitted to CNBC that early marketing for their product was “inappropriate,” saying “When we launched Juul, we had a campaign that was arguably too … lifestyle-oriented, too flashy.” He stened the blow by finishing “It was in the early days the product introduction. We think it had no impact on sales.”
In 2016, the Surgeon General concluded that nicotine consumption in any form, including e-cigarettes, causes addiction and can harm the developing adolescent brain. In response to the alarming statistics, San Francisco, ironically where Juul Labs is headquartered, recently banned the sale electronic cigarettes. The FDA has also promised to continue improving restrictions on Juul. This news arrives following a revelation that Netflix will be taking measures to diminish the portrayals smoking in their content.
Legendary OutKast rapper (and flute enthusiast), André 3000, has ficially joined the upcoming Jason Segel-directed anthology series Dispatches From Elsewhere. Jason Segel will star in, as well as direct the first episode for, the series; best known for his recurring role on How I Met Your Mother and the hilarious Forgetting Sarah Marshall. According to AV Club, the show has already started filming in Philadelphia, so we finally have an explanation as to just why there have been viral videos popping up 3 Stacks casually strolling through the streets Philly and playing his flute.
As AJC reported, the 10-episode series will have 10 episodes, and additionally to seeing direction from Segel, it will also be execcutive produced by Alethea Jones, who is set to direct a number episodes in addition to Segel. The series is said to be centered around “a group ordinary people who stumble upon a puzzle hiding just behind the veil everyday life, and discover an ever-deepening mystery.” André has appeared in a number films and television shows throughout his years, feauturing in projects like Families, The Shield, Semi-Pro, Four Brothers, as well as – perhaps his most notable role – playing Jimi Hendrix in All Is By My Side. What do you guys think, will you be watching the upcoming series?
Desipte seemingly cancelling his entire European Tour after just one show at the start the month, Lil Uzi Vert pleased fans by still making it to one recent festival. The 24 year-old “Countin” artist was recently seen living it up at the 2019 Weekend Festival in Finland. A video has been released that sees Uzi running into some problems with a secutiry guard while attending the festival though, after the guard evidently didn’t seem to recognize him.
The two day-long festival takes place in Suvilahti, Helsinki, and runs from July 19-20. This year’s lineup features Uzi himself, as well as $uicideboy$, Gunna, J.I.D., and YBN Cordae (amongst others). As was reported by TMZ, Uzi had multiple issues whereby the security thought he was a fan, and took to harassing him. In one clip we can see Uzi hoisting himself up, and onto a pole nearby to the stage. As a security guard notices, he runs up on him and from what it looks like, appears to -somewhat aggressively – direct him to get down. The Philly rapper points to himself and says something incoherent in the video, as he appears to argue with the guard and explain to him who he really is. In a second clip, Uzi is seen onstage during Gunna’s performance. As yet another security guard runs up on him and tries to remove him from the stage, Uzi can be seen over the BS, as he breaks away from the group men who have now formed, and glaring at one the members the team onstage. Gunna attempts to diffuse the situation by grabbing Uzi before things get too heated, and the show continues.
