A$AP Rocky Returns to the Stage at Real Street Festival

Welcome home, Rocky.

A$AP Rocky returned to the stage Sunday (Aug. 11) for the first time since being released from a Swedish jail. Following performances from Cardi B, Migos, Miguel, and Big Sean, the Harlem rapper capped off the second day of the first-ever Real Street Festival at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. with an explosive set.

Taking the stage in a crash test dummy ski mask and a Prada sweatshirt and pants, Rocky opened with “Praise the Lord (Da Shine)” and “Telephone Calls.” He then brought out Tyler, the Creator to perform their collaboration “Who Dat Boy” before addressing the crowd.

“I just want to say what I experienced was crazy,” said Rocky, who spent a month behind bars after being charged with assault over a Stockholm street brawl. “I’m so happy to be here right now, y’all don’t even understand. I’m so happy to be here right now. That was a scary, humbling experience, but I’m here right now.”

He continued, “People who ain’t even fuck with me felt sympathetic for my situation. People was praying for me. That uplifted me when my spirits was low. I can’t thank y’all enough. That was crazy. Thank you so much. Hip-hop never looked so strong together. We a big, strong community, man.”

In addition to bringing out Tyler, who also performed his IGOR hit “Earfquake,” A$AP Ferg and YG popped up as surprise guests during A$AP’s set.

Towards the end of the evening, Rocky asked the crowd for their continued prayers. A verdict in his trial is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday (Aug. 14).

“I know y’all was praying for me. I’ma need y’all to keep praying for me,” he said. “Hopefully, with God’s will, I’m not guilty and shit. I get the verdict on Wednesday, so I need y’all to keep praying for me. Hopefully we ain’t gotta go back to jail or nothing like that, nothing crazy.”

He also addressed the anti-Sweden sentiments from some of his fans. “I ain’t got nothing against Swedish people ’cause it was Swedish people rioting outside the police office,” he said. “They was protesting outside the jails. It was people in Sweden jails writing me. This is an unfortunate event and I’m just tryna stay blessed, man. I hope that I’m not guilty, so pray for your boy.”

Rocky was released from custody on Aug. 2 pending the verdict in his trial. He will not be required to return to Sweden for the verdict.

Ninja "Disgusted" With Twitch For Allowing "Livestream Porn" On Old Channel

Ninja’s switch from Twitch to Microst’s burgeoning Mixer platform has prompted him to become more socially responsible. It only makes sense. With money comes power, and with power comes… you know the rest. But not everyone in the stratosphere is happy to watch Ninja swell up; in fact, the folks at Twitch were so incensed by his departure, they opted to leave his channel open to the vultures – the caveat being: the ad space would be open to the highest, regardless  the smut factor.

The smut factor is incidentally what drew Ninja’s ire. After watching his channel go through several strange permutations, his breaking occurred when Twitch allowed for a livestreaming porn entity to run amok on his page. And with that, Ninja issued a written statement condemning Twitch’s business practices.

“They don’t do this for anyone else that’s fline, by the way, just me. And there are also other streamers who have signed with other platforms whose stream and the channel remains the same,” he clamored in a Twitter PSA.

He was also mindful his influence in the matter – enough to apologize, for allowing his relationship with Twitch to reach such a low point, following his exit. The above Twitter video, titled “Disgusted and so sorry.” pretty much encapsulates his stance on the issue; below is the screen-capped evidence provided by Twitter user @KEEMSTAR.

Beast Coast Show Canceled Following Shooting Threat

Sterling Heights, MI – Beast Coast wasn’t able to perform in a Detroit area suburb due to the threat of gun violence. According to multiple reports, the supergroup had to cancel their Sunday show (August 11) at the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill in Sterling Heights, Michigan after a caller phoned in shooting threats to police.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said threats were made to the Sterling Heights and Auburn Hills police departments regarding the Beast Coast concert. Police believe both calls from the same person.

“Obviously in today’s world and thing going on recently, we have to take each threat seriously,” Sheriff Anthony Wickersham told Detroit’s WDIV. “We were going to put additional deputies and undercover officers in and around the venue, and later this afternoon I found out the event was canceled.”

Hours before the event, the venue announced the concert wasn’t happening.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s #BeastCoast Escape from New York Tour at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill is canceled,” the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre announced social media. “Refunds are available at point of purchase.”

The Detroit Free Press reports the show was originally scheduled to go on with increased security. But promoter 313 Presents eventually told authorities it was canceled. Police think the decision was made by one of the performers.

Beast Coast members Flatbush Zombies issued an apology to concertgoers Twitter. The Underachievers told fans to “stay tuned,” hinting at a possible return at a later date.

The threat against Beast Coast’s Detroit area gig comes after two mass shootings devasted the United States. More than 30 people died during massacres in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.

Beast Coast is scheduled to perform Monday night (August 12) in Toronto. View their tour dates below.

Michael Blackson Asks For Extension On 50 Cent Loan: "No Need To #GetTheStrap"

Michael Blackson made quite the mistake when he was out partying with 50 Cent recently. The comedian took a couple stacks cash from the rapper to really enjoy his night out but when he woke up the next morning he realized just who he was dealing with. As we’ve posted many times before, 50 is a savage when it comes to those who are late on returning his money as we’ve seen with his past victims such as Bow Wow, Tierra Mari, Rotimi and more.

Today was initially supposed to be Michael’s due date to return the undisclosed amount cash and instead waiting on 50 Cent’s public display trolling, Michael has publically sent out a statement asking 50 for an extension on his debt. “Hey 2 quarters aka 50 cent I know your money is due today and I don’t want no fucking problem so can you please give me an extension I’m waiting for my Baltimore shows check to clear. Thanks my neega,” he wrote on Twitter.

Michael even reshared his tweet to Instagram and clarified how he just needs until next Monday to pay f his debt. “I can hand deliver it in person at your pool party in jersey,” he wrote. “Sorry for any inconvenience and no need to #GetTheStrap because if you hit me with a few shells I’ll definitely walk with a limp I only weight 150 pounds my neega.”

50 Cent has yet to respond to Michael’s request.

Masika Kalysha Updates Fans On Her Relationship With Fetty Wap

Masika Kalysha and Fetty Wap share a beautiful three-year-old daughter named Khari Barbie Maxwell. The duo welcomed Khari in March 2016 and after Fetty tried to claim he wasn’t the father after he and Masika’s one-night stand, the resemblance Fetty and his fspring was a sure sign that he’s indeed the daddy. Masika recently hopped on Instagram to answer questions from some nosey fans who were very curious about Fetty’s involvement in his daughter’s life.

One user asked whether Masika missed Fetty, leading her to follow up with a “no” and explaining how he’s around all the time. Another used asked if Fetty comes around “ten” where Masika first answered with some sarcasm then finally gave a proper answer. “I couldn’t get rid him if it sic] tried we share a whole human,” she wrote.

Finally, one follower Masika asked whether or not she’s friends with Fetty’s other three baby mothers. “Friends not at the moment. But as the kids get older it would be nice to plan things for the kids together. I’ve spoken to most the women. Even the ones I haven’t spoken to it doesn’t matter are sic] children are siblings I wish them all success and happiness. And all our children look alike,” she responded.

Safe to say they’re co-parenting successfully.

Cardi B, City Girls, Master P & More Sued By "Choppa Style" Producer

New Orleans, LA – DJ JMK, the producer of Choppa’s resurgent hit single “Choppa Style,” has sued multiple rappers and producers for copyright infringement. According to NBC affiliate WDSU, JMK says Cardi B and Master P are among the many artists who’ve used his beat without approval or compensation.

The New Orleans-based DJ, whose real name is Kirk Edwards, claims he agreed to a deal with Choppa’s label Take Fo Records for flat fee royalties for the “Choppa Style” beat. He would also receive a 30 percent bonus if the song secured national distribution.

But the DJ alleges he’s never received any payment while a producer named William “Playa Will” Nelson was hired to recreate the instrumental without JMK’s permission. Nelson allegedly replicated the “horn riff, arrangement and melody” and used a piano to “copy the horn melody and arrangement.”

JMK is seeking the money he’s owed plus damages in the lawsuit.

“Choppa Style” originally dropped in 2001 and was later re-released by No Limit Records with the addition of Master P’s vocals. It found new life in recent years thanks to the New Orleans Saints and sampling.

The track became an unofficial anthem for the Saints during the 2018 NFL season. It was also sampled on notable tracks such as City Girls’ Cardi B-assisted single “Twerk” and Yo Gotti’s “Oh Yeah” featuring French Montana.

Lil Nas X’s "Old Town Road" Still Dominating Billboard’s Hot 100 At 19th Week Streak

Lil Nas X must be counting his lucky stars since he’s still dominating the streaming charts with his golden hit, “Old Town Road.” The Georgia-born rapper has already made history on the chart since his catchy tune became the longest-running single all time at 17 weeks, beating out Mariah Carey‘s “One Sweet Day” and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito.”

“Last year in October, as a struggling artist starting to lose faith in what I could be, I went looking for beats on youtube. I remember clicking on so many generic sounding beats trying to find the right one for me. when suddenly I came across a country-trap sounding masterpiece. I immediately knew I would make something special out it,” Lil Nas shared his come-up.

“Old Town Road” is still on the charts for a total 19 weeks, sitting pretty at number one with 58.8 million U.S. streams. The song is also at the top  Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs beating out Drake‘s placement on the charts with the Toronto rapper’s 18-week mark on Hot R&B with “One Dance” and his 18-week mark with “Hotline Bling” on Hot Rap Songs.

“I jokingly/seriously saw myself as a loner cowboy needing to run away from it all! I went out on my sister’s back porch and listened to the beat OVER & OVER & OVER!! then it came to me!!” Lil Nas said his track. Congrats to the kid!

Childish Gambino’s Performing Days Are Coming To An End

It’s been a long time since Childish Gambino made the transition from comedic actor to a backpacker-esque punchline rapper on Camp. Back then, it felt as if Glover was exploring new territory, and while he did gain a loyal fanbase, some were initially (and vocally) skeptical his musical trajectory. Fast forward a few years into the future, and Glover has become somewhat a national treasure. Even those who don’t actively listen to his more experimental music will still act as if they do. That’s how powerful the Gambino effect has become. And now, should you want to catch him live and direct, time is ficially the essence.

The end Childish Gambino isn’t an entirely new concept, and we’ve been bracing ourselves for a minute. Still, the impact is beginning to resonate, following a penultimate concert in the Bay Area. As the headlining act at this year’s Outside Lands festivals, Gambino reportedly drew in the largest crowd in festival history, a milestone he acknowledged with pride. A report from Date Book cites his farewell message: “This is the second to last show we will be doing. We’ve been on tour a long time. Always loved coming to The Bay.”

Though Gambino may very well feel the call the stage before long, consider the end an era to be upon us all. Did you manage to catch Glover’s musical brainchild in the flesh? If so, how did the live experience hold up?

NYPD Closes Investigation Into Commander Who Threatened 50 Cent

The NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau has closed its investigation into a Brooklyn precinct commander who allegedly ordered to shoot 50 Cent on sight.

According to the New York Daily News, investigators determined that Brooklyn Deputy Inspector Emanuel Gonzalez made the comment, but didn’t mean it to be a threat against the rapper.

Gonzalez, the commanding officer of the 72nd Precinct in Sunset Park, allegedly told his officers to shoot the “Power” actor on sight if they saw him at an NYPD-sanctioned boxing match in the Bronx. Gonzalez claimed it was just a joke and not an actual threat, but the Internal Affairs Bureau’s Group 1, which handles police corruption cases for captains and above, launched an investigation.

At least eight cops and a supervisor confirmed that Gonzalez made the remark during a roll call in June 2018. Since IAB couldn’t prove any malice or intent behind the statement, detectives closed the case without filing any departmental or criminal charges.

An NYPD spokeswoman confirmed that the case is closed. “This allegation was unsubstantiated and closed,” said the spokeswoman.

After the case was closed, 50 reacted to the news, reposting the Daily News’ headline. “I knew they were not going to do anything about this, so I stop talking about it,” he wrote. “NYPD is hands down the toughest gang in New York. You just gotta be ready for what ever. You know the vibes.”

LeBron James’ Agent Rich Paul Breaks Silence On Harsh New NCAA Rule

Last week, the NCAA announced a new rule that would keep agents without University degrees from representing NCAA talent. It was a mandate that was quickly dubbed the “Rich Paul Rule” as Paul rose to prominence in the NBA without ever receiving a four-year diploma. Athletes like LeBron James were completely outraged by the news and rightfully so. Paul is as legit as it gets and his company Klutch Sports represents some the biggest and best players in the entire NBA.

Paul has finally replied to the new rule as he wrote a piece for The Athletic today. In the article, Paul criticizes the NCAA for discriminatory practices that will keep certain people from exercising their right to do business.

Per Paul:

“Requiring a four-year degree accomplishes only one thing — systematically excluding those who come from a world where college is unrealistic. Does anyone really believe a four-year degree is what separates an ethical person from a con artist? Let’s also be clear that once the NCAA requires a four-year degree for athletes ‘testing the waters,’ it’s only a matter time until this idea is socialized, no longer questioned, and then more broadly applied. We all know how this works. Unfair policy is introduced incrementally so people accept it because it only affects a small group. Then the unfair policy quietly evolves into institutional policy. I’m not sure what the technical term is for that because I didn’t finish college but I know it when I see it.”

It will be interesting to see how the NCAA handles this rule moving forward as they have received a bevy criticism so far.

Olivia Jade Slams Media & Their “Sources” In First Public Post Since College Scandal

It appears Lori Laughlin’s daughter, Oli Jade, has some harsh feelings about the media and their “sources” following her recent college scandal. On Sunday, the daughter Lori Laughlin decided to make her first public statement since her USC scandal by jumping on IG and giving two middle fingers to several media sites, which she captioned with hashtags.

“@dailymail @starmagazine @people @perezhilton @everyothermediaoutlet #close #source #says” she wrote along with her posing with two middle fingers in the air. Most the sites she listed appear to have broken exclusive stories about her in the recent months, which include everything from that she was dropped from her sorority to she’s no longer attending USC.

This is the first time Oli Jade has addressed the college bribery scandal since it broke earlier this year. And as previously reported, her mother and her father, Mossimo Giannulli, are currently fighting the charges that were brought against them as a result.

Check out Oli’s first post since the scandal broke (below) and sound f in the comments.

Eric Reid Says He’s Had 3 "Random" Drug Tests This Year

Last year, Eric Reid the Carolina Panthers expressed his frustrations with the NFL due to their “random” drug testing campaign. After his seventh “random” drug test, Reid posted a picture on social media shining a light on the harassment he feels he’s receiving. “I’ve been here 11 weeks, I’ve been drug-tested seven times,” Reid said, according to Sports Illustrated. “That has to be statistically impossible. I’m not a mathematician, but there’s no way that’s random.” Now, just two weeks into training camp, Reid claims that he has been tested three times.

“Two weeks into camp, two ‘random’ PED tests…3 ‘randoms’ this league year,” wrote Reid on Instagram before thanking his trainers. Reid’s name became a national headline after he chose to kneel alongside Colin Kaepernick. After the league somewhat blacklisted him because the kneeling, Reid was welcomed onto the Panthers. He’s been getting drug tested ever since. The continuous drug tests seem like a ploy devised by the NFL to try and catch Reid slipping, but there is no pro. In fact, the NFL stated that, “Mr. Reid’s tests were randomly generated computer algorithm and that his selection for testing was normal when compared with the number tests players were randomly selected for throughout the league during the time that he was on an active roster. There is no evidence targeting or any other impropriety with respect to his selection for testing.”

Keanu Reeves Fever Continues With Bizarre "Sesame Street" Deepfake

Deepfakes have gotten out control. In truth, the entire concept feels like a recipe for disaster. Generally, when one asks “what can go wrong” and the answer is “so many things,” it doesn’t bode entirely well. Case in point, that recent Joe Rogan vocal deepfake, which found a disturbingly accurate depiction his voice come alive in an admittedly hilarious fashion. We’ve already seen deepfake technology cause problems for many public figures, who inadvertently found themselves popping up in pornographic images. Of course, the ends are not always so nefarious, as evidenced by the strangely effective pairing Keanu Reeves and Sesame Street.

Keanu Reeves Fever Continues With Bizarre "Sesame Street" Deepfake

Frazer Harrison/Getty s

The grotesque effects can be seen almost immediately, as a young child with the face a grizzled Reeves allows him/herself to be serenaded. Eventually, child-Reeves joins the fun with a voice its own, and while this could never pass as authentic, it remains a reminder what the technology can do. Before long, an older Reeves-hybrid adds his voice to the choir, this one feeling a little less Uncanny Valley than the young variant.

At this point, it’s all fun and games. Until you, or more specifically “you” find yourself doing something you didn’t actually do. What happens when the technology reaches a peak and falls into the wrong hands? Not even Keanu Reeves can save us.
