Irv Gotti Discusses His History With KXNG Crooked & Run-DMC’s Legacy

Los Angeles, CA – HipHopDX’s KXNG Crooked was able to reconnect with Irv Gotti for an interview at the 2019 BET Awards. The two Hip Hop veterans discussed how the Murder Inc. co-founder helped the Crook’s Corner host years ago by getting the West Coast lyricist on Ashanti’s “Baby” remix.

“As soon as I heard him rap, it was no fake shit,” Gotti said of Crooked. “It was pure. I heard him rap and I was just like, ‘Yo nigga, we working.’ The ‘Baby’ remix, that shit was hard.”

He added, “Everyone goe listen to that record! The ‘Baby’ remix featuring Crooked I. It’s like I never wanted … when we did R&B shit, I wanted it to be harder. You know what I’m saying? To represent that side. And he represented the Westside to the fullest.”

Later, Gotti did some more promotion for his television series TALES. The rap mogul reiterated Kanye West would be debuting a new song featuring Charlie Wilson in the Season 2 premiere, which is scheduled to air on BET this Tuesday (July 2).

As the conversation came to its conclusion, Crooked asked Gotti about the first rap song he ever memorized. The Queens native cited Run-DMC’s “Sucker MCs” and reflected on the legendary group’s influence.

“I knew Sugarhill Gang and everything but that record hit me,” Gotti said. “To me, it was different from the Hip Hop predecessors and what they was doing. It opened up a new style. I give them credit … I credit Run-DMC for ushering in a new style of Hip Hop. And [they’re] the first real group to take Hip Hop to the pinnacle, selling 4 or 5 million [records] and owning the world making everyone buy Adidas.”

Trailer To "Charlie’s Angels" Reboot Finally Unveiled: Report

The first trailer to the new and upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot has surfaced at last. This would be yet another cinematic effort as relaunching the once very successful television show which starred Farah Fawcett along with the famed series movies linked to a first reboot in 2003 which originally starred Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz, and Drew Barrymore. This time around, however, we are looking at a new and updated take on the film with a fresh new cast: Kirsten Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska. The trio will take over the role former angels and defeat the evil forces the best way they know how: by kicking a**. We also have a female Bosley this time which is interesting. The film is directed by Elizabeth Banks who has been attached to the project since it was initially announced in 2015. Moreover, she also served as a writer for the script in the pre-production stage.

The trailer also features a brand new song by Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana Del Rey. The collaboration between these artists was recorded in a fashion wherein each singer took on the role three, different angels. It currently has not been shared when or where the song will stream, but the teaser keeps up excited to see what’s next.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Clowns Drake’s Basketball Skills: Watch

Giannis Antetokounmpo knows all about Drake and his courtside antics while he watched his Toronto Raptors this season. The Milwaukee Bucks ended up losing to the Raptors in the Eastern Conference finals and Giannis was the subject a lot chirps and ridicule. Well, during the NBA Awards show, Giannis was able to get his revenge as he was tasked with reacting to a video Drake showing f his basketball skills. While Drake showed some promise with his shot, the Greek Freak had plenty fodder to make fun the artist with and it turned out to be quite entertaining.

“He looks like he’s out shape,” Giannis noted. As Drake continued to make shots, Antetokounmpo admitted that his jumper was decent but his defense was atrocious. He also talked about how the artist looks a lot like Fred VanVleet, except the Raptors shooter is “100 times better.” It made for a pretty hilarious video, with Giannis comparing Drake to an older, more washed version Brian Scalabrine, which is quite the indictment.

Drake probably doesn’t care too much about what Giannis has to say as his Raptors were able to make the Greek Freak a non-factor in fourth quarters during the playfs. At least next year, the recently crowned MVP will be able to exact his revenge.

Lil Nas X Launches New Merch Inspired By “7” EP

Looking to capitalize f his newly-released 7 EP, ATL sensation Lil Nas X has decided to roll out a new line merch inspired by the project. The shirts & hoody are inspired by the song title “Panini,” while another has “The Sad Cowboy” on it.

However, this isn’t Lil Nas X’s first rodeo in the fashion industry. Just a couple months ago the “Old Town Road” rapper reached a deal with Wrangler Jeans to be the face their new line. In fact, he even name-dropped Wrangler in his country trap hit, rapping, “Cowboy hat from Gucci, Wrangler on my booty,” which caught their attention. “The phenomenon surrounding the track has broken boundaries and allows for a brand like Wrangler to hone in on its Western DNA while tapping into current culture,” Jennifer Frommer, SVP Brand Partnerships at Columbia Records, said.

YBN Cordae Talks Chance The Rapper Collab "Bad Idea" & Making Creative Videos

Los Angeles, CA – HipHopDX’s KXNG Crooked was at the 2019 BET Awards and caught up with YBN Cordae on the red carpet. During their chat, the two lyricists expressed their mutual respect for each other and discussed Cordae’s new single “Bad Idea” featuring Chance The Rapper.

“I feel like it’s a real dope record,” he told Crooked. “It’s a good summertime vibe, and it’s different from the stuff that’s out there.”

Crooked then asked about the creativity involved in Cordae’s videos. According to the 21-year-old MC, it’s simply a matter of being true to himself.

“I don’t even really try to do something different,” the YBN member explained. “I just do what’s authentic to me. If you can do something that’s authentic to yourself, how you feel as a person, then it’s gonna be different than everybody else because everybody’s different.”

The host of Crook’s Corner capped off the conversation by asking Cordae about the first rap song he ever memorized. The rising star responded by spitting some lines from JAY-Z’s “Diamond Is Forever.”

Netflix Will Lose Popular Sitcom "The Office" In 2021

When Netflix introduced their streaming services back in 2007, people were a little slow to pick up on the revolutionary implications that such a service would have on all forms shared media. But, the company soon gained wide-stream popularity as a meme came out which created what is now used a euphemism all around the world, and which had the name “Netflix” in people’s mouths (and on their Instagram feeds) for a while to come. Now, flash forward to 12 years later and the company is bigger than ever, fering their own original shows as well as a wide plethora classic and contemporary favorites to subscribed members. And now, others are trying to get their slice the pie, hopping on board the streaming service fad to fer (hungry) users alternative, and sometimes even cheaper, ways to stream their favorites.

So it’s no surprise that in such a competitive climate, these streaming services would be doing everything in their power to set themselves apart from one another. Back in February, Disney announced their own streaming service, and said that they would be taking back all their Marvel Entertainment content. Now, it seems as though others are starting to catch onto this cunning ploy exclusively streaming the shows which they own the rights to, as Netflix announced on their ficial Twitter account on Tuesday that NBC would be taking back the popular sitcom, “The Office,” to fer on its own streaming platform. NBC confirmed it has secured “exclusive domestic streaming rights” for all nine seasons the series in a news release, and that it will be available on the company’s new service for five years.

It’s really no surprise that NBC would pull this move. “The Office,” which debuted on NBC in 2005, was streamed for about 52 billion minutes in 2018, according to Nielsen data referenced by NBC in its news release Tuesday. NBC also added that in April, the show was viewed nearly twice as much as the next most-viewed program on streaming on-demand video.

Logic Gets The Strap & Shows Off Keanu-Esque Gunplay

Logic is a man that’s willing and able to take the plunge. While many know him as a rapper, as evidenced by his recent drop Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, Bobby T has also explored various creative endeavors, including a best-selling novel and an experimental album the same name. When it comes to trying new things, he’s not exactly averse to the prospect change. Now, it would appear he’s setting his sights on becoming the deadliest warrior, either that or signing up for a private militia a la Billy Russo from The Punisher.

In honor his personal idol Keanu Reeves, no stranger to a maxed-out gunplay statistic, Logic channeled his latent John Wick energy with a trip to the gun range. With an entourage young ladies in tow, Logic fires f some heavy artillery, intercutting his experience with Keanu’s viral clip. Though the strategic cutting leaves his mobility in question, few can dispute that Logic’s accuracy is solid, as many his shots successfully find their targets. Naturally, he’s no Keanu, but who really is?

Should the hip-hop world ever descend into post-apocalyptic chaos, would you want Logic on your squad? Check out the footage below.

Snoop Dogg-Backed Cameo Raises $50 Million to Send Personalized Celebrity Greetings

Cameo, a Chicago-based startup that allows users to purchase video messages from prominent actors, athletes, celebrities, and musicians, just received a whopping $50 million in series B funding from Kleiner Perkins.

Cameo, which was founded by Martin Blencowe, Steven Galanis, and Devon Townshend, now has over $65 million in capital and is valued at somewhere in the ballpark of $300 million. Several celebrities, including Snoop Dogg, have also invested in the company, and others celebrity investors are actively being courted — partially because their presence on the platform will prove so valuable.

Cameo’s founders indicated that these newest funds will be used to optimize the company’s mobile application — at the time of writing, customers must visit Cameo’s website to purchase content, which makes the brand’s success even more impressive. The company also intends to explore the possibilities of the international marketplace.

Cameo offers custom-recorded videos from 15,000 individuals, including Snoop Dogg, Ice T, Sean Kingston, and Rebecca Black. The cost of a video ranges from five dollars to $3,000, and Cameo has stated that an average of 2,000 orders are placed per day. Cameo collects a flat fee of 25 percent from each transaction.

High-priced videos, including those offered by Snoop Dogg, seem to be relatively popular; Snoop’s profile boasts more than 75 reviews. If Cameo users are so inclined, they can make their videos available on the provider’s page; a multitude of Snoop Dogg’s past messages can be viewed through his profile.

A major expansion in musical talent could be next. In fact, a successful Cameo expansion could mean extra revenue for a vast number of artists, particularly those with younger audiences eager to make a connection.  Case in point: TikTok stars like Ian Avery (pictured above) and budding musicians (from any platform) can use Cameo to conduct direct outreach to fans and immediately monetize the connection.

Or at least, that’s the proposed business model.

Ice Cube opens up about his experience in launching the Big 3 League, which he explains stemmed from his own desires as a fan. “Dudes retire all the time, and we can’t watch them anymore,” explains Cube. “But I know they playing. I’m hearing about pickup games, ‘they was up at UCLA going f!’ I was like damn, why this ain’t on TV? Why we can’t see this?”

Eventually, Desus inquires about Cube’s comedic chops, remarking on his transition from “the person people were afraid ” to “a lovable actor.” Cube reveals the secret is remaining true to self. “I’m not worried about an image,” he explains. “I was always funny. I always knew what was funny. Me doing comedies, I know it don’t really match, but we from the hood. Comedy is such a part our life, because we gotta laugh at shit. If not, we’d all have a pistol in our hand. A bandanna around our face. Comedy is just as much a part the hood as anything else people associate with the hood.” He proceeds to compliment the hosts, saying their show reminds him “the homies growing up, just clowning all the time.”

Cardi B Now Suing Ex-Manager Shaft For $30 Million: Report

The ongoing lawsuit with Cardi B and her former manager Klenord “Shaft” Raphael has been a long & drawn out process. It all started last April when Shaft sued the “Bodak Yellow” rapper for $10 million claiming that she breached her contract a few years back when ditching him for another manager. Cardi then countersued him for $15 million claiming he actually screwed her over after she trusted him with her business affairs, but apparently that $15 million isn’t enough. The Blast is now reporting that Cardi is suing Shaft for twice that amount, $30 million.

The singer was originally only seeking $15 million in damages but now wants $10 million in compensatory damages and another $20 million in punitive damages. Cardi claims that Shaft made her believe her interests were being protected but she says they were not. She accuses him taking a bigger cut her income than what was allowed.

She is again asking for his lawsuit against her to be dismissed and her counter-suit to continue on. Whether that’l happen remains to be known, but we’ll keep you posted moving forward.

Patrick Mahomes’ GF Claps Back At Trolls With Bikini Pic On Instagram

Patrick Mahomes’ longtime girlfriend, Brittany Matthews, has read the trolling comments and heard from all the haters who think the Kansas City Chiefs’ MVP QB could “do better,” but she’s taking it in stride.

Matthews, who has been dating Mahomes since their high school days, recently took to instagram to respond to all the hate with a couple bikini photos along with the caption: “Me, when you get told all the time your boyfriend could do so much better.”

Mahomes and the Chiefs will kickf the 2019 NFL season with two road games, including a September 8 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars and a showdown with the division rival Oakland Raiders in Week 2. The Chiefs will return to Arrowhead Stadium for their home opener in Week 3, where they’ll host the Baltimore Ravens.

Last season, Mahomes led the NFL with 50 touchdown passes to just 12 interceptions, while throwing for 5,097 yards, trailing only Ben Roethlisberger. The 23-year old QB earned MVP honors and led KC to an AFC-best 12-4 mark, but fell short the eventual Super Bowl champion New England Patriots in the AFC championship game.

Westside Gunn Reveals "FLYGOD Is An Awesome God" Tracklist & Guests

Between Benny The Butcher’s recent The Plugs I Met and Westside Gunn’s upcoming FLYGOD Is An Awesome God, it’s safe to declare the arrival Griselda season. Today, Westside took to Instagram to reveal his new album’s tracklist, as well as a stacked lineup guest producers and rappers. Though he doesn’t reveal their involvement on a per-song basis, the information remains tantalizing nevertheless. Even if it leaves us guessing, at least for the time being.

Given the amalgamation names in the aptly titled “Gunnlib,” it wouldn’t be surprising to see Madlib and Gunn join forces on that go-around. Otherwise, it’s difficult to discern which track will feature which contributor, leaving us to play guessing games until the project surfaces. Yet FlyGod is indeed an Awesome God, having blessed us with the complete list producers and guests, as follows:

Alchemist, Raekwon, Madlib, Ws Pootie, Daringer, Conway, Scott Hall, Evidence, Benny, JR Swiftz, Keisha Plum, Denny Laflare, Meyhem Lauren, Sauce Walka, DJ Muggs, Sadhu Gold, Hologram.

Of course, the extensive supporting cast once again points to an adherence to that classic street sound, a quality we’ve come to expect from Gunn and his Griselda compatriots. Look for FLYGOD Is An Awesome God to arrive on July 5th. Are you looking forward to that?

What You Can Expect From The "Avengers: End Game" Re-Release

Marvel Studios head-honcho recently let split that Avengers: End Game would be getting re-released in theatres this upcoming weekend. Considering the original movie is still playing in theatres, we are eager to know what we can expect from the re-release. Though the aim for studio heads remains fixated on beating out the record set by James Cameron’s Avatar, which managed to crush Titanic. In order to increase interest and entice viewers to head back to the theatres to re-watch the lengthy movie, Marvel Studios and Disney are packing on some extra material to squeeze out the extra $40 million dollars or so needed to make their goal. And now, we have just gotten details from UPROXX on what can be expected from the upcoming re-released flick.

The source, Jeremy Conrad MCU Cosmic, reports on what he’s learned: “This week’s re-release  Avengers: Endgame will include will be a new deleted scene that plays after the credits, which features the Hulk. It’s not the Kathrine Langford scene that many were hoping to see (which hopefully will show up on the Blu-ray), but rather a Hulk scene that fits more as a post-credit thing than the older Morgan Stark would. Some showings will include an introduction by the Russo Brothers as well. In addition to the scene and the Stan Lee tribute, there will be a short tease for Spider-Man: Far From Home.”

Tupac Shakur’s Prison I.D. To Be Auctioned Off, Bids Start At $2K

Twenty-four years ago, Tupac Shakur began his year and a half sentence after being convicted first-degree sexual assault. The rapper was incarcerated at the Clinton Correctional Facility in New York back in 1995 and while there, he married his girlfriend Keisha Morris. Unfortunately, their wedded bliss would dissolve into divorce just a year later.

Over the years, Tupac memorabilia have become hot commodities and have been auctioned f to the highest bidder. Heritage Auctions has gotten their hands on one Pac’s Clinton Correctional Facility identification cards and they’re selling it f to the highest bidder. The I.D., which also holds the rapper’s signature, was issued two weeks after Tupac was admitted and bids start at $2K beginning on July 1. While inside, Pac also drew some NSFW images for Morris that were recently auctioned f for $21,000.

Tupac served nine months his sentence before being released. Just a few months before his discharge, the rapper sat down for an interview that has gone down as a historical moment in the rapper’s short life. In it, Pac showcases his skills as a freestyling poet before he educates the masses on the the business the prison system, what “thug life” really stands for to him, and the importance weeding out the false narratives from people who say they care about underprivileged communities but have done nothing to help. Check it out below.
