Mariah Carey Responds To The Relentless "I Don’t Like Her" Banter

Labeling Mariah Carey as something a pariah or polarizing figure doesn’t begin to describe the enmity she encounters on social media. And yet Mariah can still rely on the trusted hand her day one followers who blink at nothing being posted about their Diva idol. Just yesterday, a series posts centered around the words ” “I don’t like Mariah Carey” elicited one her most ardent defenders to jump in the line fire.

Their response “Not even being dramatic but ‘I don’t like Mariah Carey’ is literally the biggest turn f ever,” was retweeted by the singer who couldn’t agree more herself, inciting well over 200k her followers to smash the like button and another 36k in retweets as this writing.

The debate over Mariah Carey’s behavior has been a topic discussion for some time now, with the general public dividing into several camps: her supporters, the detractors, and those who couldn’t be bothered (myself)…  although I am inclined to side with Mariah in light the hoople talk that’s emerged.

Where do you stand on Mariah in 2019? For what it’s worth, you’ve got new music to reckon with, a spicy litigation battle with her ex-manager, and on the fair side things, some fun-loving family interaction. Those who choose to pick on her “undiagnosed behavior” aren’t doing anything to further a positive agenda, so consider your engagement before you DO test the waters.

LaVar Ball Weighs In On Magic Johnson, Lakers: "The System Is Crumbling Down"

Magic Johnson unexpectedly stepped down as President Basketball Operations for the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, just moments before the team’s regular season finale. The Lakers went on to lose by the final 104-101, as they wrapped up the 2018-19 campaign with a record 37-45.

Less than 24 hours after Magic’s resignation, Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed” invited LaVar Ball onto the program to share his thoughts on the matter. Naturally, LaVar had plenty to say, including the following:

“Magic, from my point view now, listening to him talk, he’s just a face. I don’t think his say-so is like his say-so. … I’m trying to figure out who’s in charge the Lakers]. The system is crumbling down. I don’t know what’s going on over there.”

As seen in the video clip embedded above, LaVar also spoke about how he still wants his three sons, Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo to play on the same NBA team. Whether it’s with the Los Angeles Lakers or another team, like the Phoenix Suns, the Ball patriarch is hellbent on creating an NBA “dynasty” around his three boys.

LaVar’s recent comments on “Undisputed” back up a recent report by Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes. While Lonzo Ball was searching for a new agency (he has since agreed to a deal with CAA), Haynes reported the following:

“LaVar Ball has re-emerged as the shot-caller in orchestrating his son’s next pivotal move.”

“In the process vetting agent candidates during meetings, LaVar is inquiring if the agencies have the power to pair his three sons — Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo — on the same NBA team.”

The Lakers’ 37-45 record ranks 11th worst in the NBA this season, but we won’t find out their draft positioning until the NBA Lottery on May 14.

"You Have Used Us" — Hit Songwriters Pen Open Letter Slamming Spotify's CRB Appeal

In a surprising move, songwriters have come together to outright lambast Spotify.

Spotify’s recent moves haven’t exactly made the company many friends in the music industry.

Two months ago, in a split decision, the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) a significant streaming royalty increase for songwriters and publishers.  The 44% increase – the first in 110 years – would force streaming music services to pay a lot more.

Apple Music quietly approved of the move.  Spotify – along with Google, Pandora, and Amazon – didn’t.  Each soon filed their own separate appeal.

How Spotify lost the respect of the music industry.

Prior to the appeals, National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) President David Israelite had sternly warned each company,

NMPA and NSAI [Nashville Songwriters Association International] fought hard to increase songwriter royalties by 44%.

“The digital music companies now have 30 days to appeal that ruling, and, in effect, declare war on songwriters.

Publicly going on the offensive against the CRB, Spotify to defend its stance.

The CRB rate structure is complex and there were significant flaws in how it was set.

“A key area of focus in our appeal will be the fact that the CRB’s decision makes it very difficult for music services to offer ‘bundles’ of music and non-music offerings.

This rate structure, continued the company, would ultimately “hurt consumers.”  They would lose access to these bundles.

The move with top songwriters and music industry executives – including Irving Azoff.

On Twitter, Azoff wrote,

Apple understands they’re in the artist business.  Clearly, Google, Pandora, Spotify and Amazon don’t.

Justin Tranter, who has written songs for Ariana Grande, Fall Out Boy, Justin Bieber, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Gwen Stefani, added,

Without songs, these tech companies have nothing to stream/sell.  Shameful.

Others didn’t hold back.

Dina LaPolt, a notable music lawyer, took a more direct approach against the streaming music giant.

Spotify, you cheap pieces of s—t.   F—k you and your secret bulls—t Genius awards.

“You should be ashamed of yourselves.

To win over songwriters, the streaming music giant a series of town hall meetings.  That move didn’t sit well with the industry.

Mark Beaven, Founder and Co-CEO of Advanced Alternative Media (AMM), warned songwriters,

Spotify is getting pushback from songwriters and their supporters.  So, it’s now campaigning to ‘make nice’ and put a friendly face and spin on things.  They’re attempting to hold songwriter ‘Town Halls’ in both L.A. and Nashville.

“…songwriters should strongly consider not attending and advising Spotify they will not do so.  [The company] had the opportunity to have such a Town Hall before making a challenge.

Now they’re just trying to propagandize while the knife digs in deeper.

As Spotify continues to reel from these attacks, the songwriter community – in a united front – has now penned an open letter asking the streaming music giant.

How Spotify lost the songwriter community.

In an open letter penned to CEO Daniel Ek, hit songwriters, including Ali Tamposi, Frank Dukes, Teddy Geiger, Babyface, and Nile Rodgers, wrote,

Dear Spotify.

We’re hurt and disappointed.  You created a songwriter relations team and ingratiated Spotify into our community.

We know you’re not the only DSP (digital service provider) appealing the Copyright Royalty Board determination.  You are, however, the only provider that made us feel we were working to build a modern music industry together.

Continuing on, the songwriters expressed their outrage at the company.

Now, we see the real reason for your songwriter outreach.

“You have used us and tried to divide us but we stand together.”

Explaining their fight is for “all songwriters,” especially those struggling to build their careers, those in the middle class, and “those few who have reached your Secret Genius Level,” the letter continues,

But none of us are ‘secret!’  WE all create the ONE thing you sell – songs.

Begging the company to rethink its CRB appeal, the songwriters conclude,

Do the right thing and drop your appeal of the Copyright Royalty Board rate determination.”

Jesse Williams’ Ex-Wife Requests $200K From Him To Pay Her Divorce Lawyers: Report

In 2012, Jesse Williams and his longtime girlfriend, real estate broker Aryn Drake-Lee, married after five years dating. The pair seemed as if they were a Hollywood relationship that would be able to withstand the tests the entertainment industry, but unfortunately, in 2017 it was reported that Williams filed for divorce.

Since then, the former couple has been embroiled in a contentious battle in an effort to end their relationship legally. The pair share custody their two children, Sadie and Maceo, and The Blast reports that timing has been flexible to accommodate Williams’ filming schedule. Not only does Drake-Lee reportedly want the custody schedule to be more consistent with an expectation Williams to give her his shooting schedule every week, but she also wants him to pay up to $200,000 for her lawyers. Court documents show that Williams has already paid $270,000 towards his ex-wife’s legal bills, but she’s requesting $100K for her lawyer and another $100K for a forensic accountant to help prepare her for the forthcoming September divorce trial.

Drake-Lee currently receives $100,000 from Williams per month in support, $50K for child and $50K for spousal, a number that Williams wants to be reduced. Drake-Lee wants that number to remain the same and reportedly will argue that Williams owes her nearly $1 million in retroactive support. Williams dishes out so much cash to his ex because he is said to make $521,000 per month.

R. Kelly’s Sony Music Royalties Seized By Former Landlord Over Unpaid Debt

R. Kelly‘s legal troubles are more than just the sexual assault accusations that he faces. The singer allegedly owes his landlord back rent and the debt is steep. According to documents obtained by The Blast, Kelly’s former landlord, Midwest Commercial Funding, has issued a subpoena to Sony Music Holdings in an effort to get them to freeze $264,535 in the singer’s royalty account.

Kelly allegedly stopped paying rent on his Chicago recording studio and owed the company $173,855.08, but after Sony froze the account, Midwest was able to collect $154,527.22 from one the singer’s Bank America accounts. That only came after a “turnover order” was issued for payment. Now, Midwest needs Sony to make payment on the remainder Kelly’s debt to the tune $52,431.55. After that, Kelly will be in the clear.

Kim Kardashian Once Jumped Over A Table To Aid Her Son Having An Allergic Reaction

Keeping Up With The Kardashians season 16 is now two episodes deep and the latest episode had fans applauding Kim Kardashian on Twitter for how calm and collected she was when confronting Kanye West about moving to Chicago. I guess the way Kim stayed chill on the matter, calmy talking with her husband about why it wasn’t the best idea was something her fans admired.

“Love seeing more Kim and Ye’s relationship on KUWTK. They’re truly goals,” one user tweeted, while another added: “Kim is so calm. can she teach me how to be that calm? #KUWTK.”

Kim responded to the last tweet, letting it be known that she isn’t at all “calm” when it comes to her kids. “t doesn’t benefit you to not be calm. But let me tell you when one my kids get injured or anything and I’m screaming and freaking everyone out,” she responded.

In a since-deleted tweet, she added: “I did it this weekend when my Sainty had an allergic reaction and I jumped over the table like a hurdle lol Screamed call 911 and Khloe had to calm me down! I’m either super zen or so dramatic!”

It’s safe to say Saint is doing fine and well and Kim assured so in yet another tweet, “Yes my baby is fine.”

Elizabeth Hurley Shows Her Stunning Bikini Body At 53-Years-Old

At this point, when you see Elizabeth Hurley’s name in the news, it’s probably because she took a trip to the beach and wowed everybody with her incredible physique. For months, audiences have been confused about how the actress still looks so great at 53-years-old. Each new bikini photo is more astounding than the last. Men and women wish they can retain their good looks as they grow older but reality ten settles in and you wake up with a big belly, stretch marks and no hair on your head. That’s a fact for most people. With Elizabeth Hurley, time seemingly stopped somewhere in her timeline because the star has just returned with a flurry new shots in her bathing suit, reminding us all that she’s still got it.

The 53-year-old posed in her teal bikini, not looking a day over the age thirty. In another video posted to her page, she stood inside the pool, letting the water drip onto her body and smiling big the entire time. Finally, she rocked a pink one-piece while on vacation, taking in the sun and shining brightly for her fans to marvel over.

It’s insane to take into the account the fact that Hurley has been living for over half a century and she still looks this good. Whatever fountain youth she’s been drinking from is working wonders.

LeBron James Reportedly "Lost Trust" Amongst Young Lakers After AD Fiasco

One the biggest storylines the NBA season this year was the Los Angeles Lakers’ reported willingness to move almost all their young players in order to acquire New Orleans Pelicans star, Anthony Davis. The whole thing went down prior to the trade deadline when the Lakers were still in contention for the playfs. After AD never came to the team, it was clear that there was a shift in chemistry and the Lakers suffered because it.

Today, The Athletic’s Bill Oram wrote about the Lakers demise this season and made the claim that the reason why the team fell apart was indeed due to the Davis debacle.

“It was apparent that the young players no longer trusted James, believing he was operating behind the scenes to get them traded to New Orleans,” Oram wrote.

In the past, LeBron has been adamant that he is always trying to make the team better and that the young players can “handle” the rumors against them. Considering the team went into a downward spiral after the trade deadline, perhaps this wasn’t the case.

Now, the Lakers are out the playfs and have sat LeBron for the rest the season so he doesn’t reaggravate his groin injury.

Beyoncé’s Mother On Nipsey Hussle’s Death: "Jay-Z Loved Him So Much"

Last week, there were conflicting reports about a trust fund that Jay-Z had set up for Nipsey Hussle‘s children after their father passed away. After verifying the source the rumors, we quickly determined that the news was not authentic and that no such donation had been made. Jay-Z was extremely close with Nipsey Hussle and the late Crenshaw rapper worked closely with Hov’s label. It’s been difficult for us to process Hussle’s death and many us are relying on our loved ones and friends to get through this. Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, is leaning on her two daughters and Kelly Rowland to fully understand Nipsey Hussle’s death as she revealed that they’ve been involved in lengthy group text messages about his untimely murder.

Tina Knowles spoke with Maria Shriver on an episode her podcast yesterday where she spoke about how her family has rallied together after Nipsey Hussle’s death. Tina, Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly Rowland and Kelly’s niece are all part a group chat and they’ve been mourning together with Tina noting that it’s been “comforting.”

“I’m sure you heard about Nipsey Hussle being killed, so we’ve been on this group chat… the sadness about that, and the disappointment,” said Tina Knowles. “He’s on my son-in-law’s label and my son-in-law Jay-Z] loved him so much. He was such a great guy that the whole community is sad, but it’s really comforting to be able to be on that group chat and talk about it.”

Beyoncé issued a statement after Nipsey’s passing, writing that she was “praying with every ounce her heart.” Nipsey Hussle was scheduled to meet with LAPD and Roc Nation to discuss ways to reduce gang violence in his city the day after he was fatally shot.

Final "Hellboy" Trailer Gleefully Depicts R-Rated Violence & Debauchery

It’s strange. A dissonance seems to exist between the presented Green-Band trailer and the true nature the upcoming Hellboy film, which looks to be a bloody, disturbing, grotesque, and swear-laden good time. Many theater viewers might walk away with a false impression the upcoming film, as the “Red Band” trailers are far superior in just about every way. Now, the powers that be have issued the final Hellboy trailer, doubling down on everything that makes it look so delightful. Gory violence. Disturbing creature design. Copius swearing, as uttered by Ian McShane, who makes saying “fu*k” into an art form.

While brief, this Hellboy trailer is the most violent thus far. Faces are torn f, eyes are gouged out, severed heads are sewn onto necks, foreheads are branded, and that’s only a few clips. The trailer promises no shortage “STRONG BLOODY VIOLENCE,” “GORE THROUGHOUT,” and “LANGUAGE.” Behold the carnage now, and sound f below. Is this movie something you might be interested in? One has to wonder if many a youth will find themselves led astray by the original trailer, only to be subjected to a digitally-rendered gorefest the likes which they’ve never seen.

Hellboy, based on the Mike Mignola comic-series the same name, stars David Harbour, Daniel Dae Kim, Penelope Mitchell, Mila Jovovich, Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, and more. Look for it when it hits Theatres on April 12th.
