Drake Flies To The Bahamas On New Luxury Private Jet Following Raptors Win

Drake‘s essentially become an unficial benchwarmer for the Toronto Raptors. Throughout the Eastern Conference, he was seen courtside at all the Raptors home gamescartoonishly cheering for his team and chirping the opps. Needless to say, he’s lived up to his title as the team’s Global Ambassador. With a few days until the finals kick f, Drake flew out to the Bahamas on his newly purchased, “Air Drake.”

Rappers constantly brag about flying private but Drake is among the few who actually owns his own private jet. According to TMZ, the rapper’s “Air Drake” PJ was seen at the landing zone in the Bahamas this past Sunday, posted next to a smaller Delta brand plane. Drizzy’s new jet isn’t just a typical G4, it’s a 767-300F Boeing plane which typically cost hundreds millions dollars. This type PJ is around $185M to $220M.

Drake previously gave fans a little tour the OVO plane on his Instagram page earlier this month which looks as luxurious as you’d expect. With Drizzy continuously building his business resume, maybe an OVO airline is the next thing he has up his sleeves.

With the finals coming this Thursday, 90s group Smash Mouth, best known for their cover The Monkees’ “I’m A Believer,” called out Drake this weekend, warning him to relax while he sits courtside in Oakland. “When the ball is in-play sit the FCK down! That aint gonna fly in Oakland! #GlorifiedMascot,” they tweeted at Drake. Drake’s yet to respond but given how petty he’s been in the last week, it wouldn’t be surprising if he does clap back.

Lone Business Subscriber Challenges Cox Communication's Agreement with the RIAA

Earlier this month, Cox Communications and the RIAA reached an astonishing agreement.

The internet service provider, which has suffered multiple defeats against the music industry in court – including to BMG – submitted a proposed stipulated order.

Both Cox and the RIAA – representing Sony, Warner, and Universal Music – agreed the ISP would promptly hand over the names, payment information, and addresses of business subscribers who allegedly downloaded illegal content.

Promptly signed by U.S. District Judge Liam O’Grady, the ISP agreed to identify 2,793 business subscribers who received infringement warnings between February 1st, 2013 and November 26th, 2014.

Under the proposed order, Cox would first notify its business subscribers.  They would have the option to contest the decision.  Should they fail to do so, however, the major labels would receive their personal information.

Yet, not everyone agrees with this proposed order.  Now, one subscriber has declined to hand over their personal information to the music industry.

A lone wolf challenges Cox and the RIAA.

Dubbed ‘John Doe,’ a non-profit corporation which provides hospital and medical care facilities outside of Virginia, wrote,

Like other medical care providers, John Doe provides an unsecured, public wireless network that can be accessed by patients and other visitors who agree to abide by John Doe’s terms of use for the Public Wi-Fi network.  Cox is the internet service provider for this Public Wi-Fi network.”

The unsecured network, writes John Doe, ultimately triggered copyright infringement notifications.  Prior to logging into the free Wi-Fi, users had to agree with the medical company’s Terms of Service.

In using the System and the Services, You agree that you will not: (1) infringe any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, right of publicity or other right of any party; (2) defame, abuse, harass, stalk any individual, or disrupt or interfere with the security or use of the System or any website accessed by it; (3) interfere with or damage the System, including, without limitation, through the use of viruses, cancel bots, Trojan horses, harmful code, flood pings, denial of service attacks, packet or IP spoofing; forged routing or electronic mail address information, or similar methods or technology…

The medical company admits users may have downloaded copyrighted files.  Yet, as it doesn’t track MAC addresses of individual users, ‘John Doe’ can’t identify individual people nor devices.  Thus, the company argues it shouldn’t have to share its business details with major labels.

Thus, disclosure of John Doe’s subscriber information will not lead to the discovery of the individual(s) who are alleged by Plaintiffs to have engaged in copyright infringement through the misuse of John Doe’s network in violation of the access agreement.

In addition, should Cox and the RIAA ignore this request, the proposed stipulated order would breach the corporation’s legal rights.

All disclosure will accomplish is a breach of John Doe’s privacy rights under the Cable Communications Privacy Act, 47 USC § 551, and the imposition of time and expense burdens on John Doe, all without furthering any claim or defense in this case.

The court will now decide whether to provide John Doe’s information to the RIAA.  As previously explained, it remains unclear whether the RIAA plans to take all 2,793 Cox business subscribers to court.

Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 "Antlia Reflective" Drops Next Month: Closer Look

Kanye West‘s Yeezy brand has had a pretty exceptional 2019 so far as there have been a plethora releases the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 and the Yeezy Boost 700 V1 & V2. The rumored 350 V3 doesn’t seem like it will be coming anytime soon as the brand with three stripes continues to greenlight V2 colorways. One those models that is one the way is the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Antlia” which is an all-over muted yellow that is reminiscent the “Butter” colorway from last summer.

This particular model has a translucent stripe and the same pattern that was found on the “Static” colorway that was released back in December. Just like the “Static” entry into the Yeezy library, the “Antlia” colorway will have its own reflective version that has 3M throughout the upper. This means that they light up under certain conditions. Thanks to @hanzuying, we now know what this reflective model will look like.

As right now, there is no ficial release date although some signs are pointing to a June 21st release for the reflective model and June 22nd for the regular version.

Will you be looking to cop this shoe or is it an easy pass?

Ty Dolla $ign Hypes Kanye West’s "Yandhi" With Immense Praise

Kanye West‘s Ye was a solid album, consistently enjoyable across its concise seven-song runtime. Yet the project served as a chapter a greater whole, the so-called Surgical Summer, which added a certain sense importance to Ye’s eighth studio album. Still, many have lamented a perceived decline on Kanye’s end, a slope that has been present since The Life Of Pablo – some might even cite Yeezus as the beginning the end. In any case, Yandhi seemed destined for a similar fate, originally announced as Ye’s second album the year. However, he proceeded to have a change heart and pushed the project back indefinitely, citing creative reasons.

Now, confirmed Yandhi collaborator Ty Dolla $ign has once again come forward to stoke hype for the album. Speaking with Beats 1, Ty Dolla opened up about his experience witnessing Kanye in peak form, speaking about the project as if already completed. “His album is amazing,” states Dolla. “He’s constantly upgrading, upgrading. We think the song is done, we think it’s fire and he’s like ‘Nah, let’s keep going, let’s keep going. It’s a great learning experience and you already know his next project is about to be stupid.”

As we already know, Ty Dolla, Kanye, and Nicki Minaj have linked up for a track called “New Body,” which finds Yeezy rapping the following lyrics: “New ass, new tits, new bitch, who this? Who else, you know, this bad, with two kids? New body, new uh, never get you shit.” Will he be back on his MBDTF lyrical tip? Unlikely. Yet when it comes to arrangement and sonic aesthetic, it stands to reason that Ye will continue to raise the bar.

Kawhi Leonard’s Uncle Dennis Comments On Decision To Leave Spurs

All last season, Kawhi Leonard had a very public falling out with the San Antonio Spurs after he had a dispute with team doctors over his injury. Some felt like he should have been playing, although Leonard himself felt as though he simply wasn’t ready to go. In the fseason, Leonard was shipped f to the Toronto Raptors and on Saturday, Leonard led the team to their first NBA Finals. Leonard’s uncle, Dennis Robertson, has served as his advisor throughout his career and recently spoke to Chris Haynes  Yahoo! Sports about his struggled with the Spurs.

“I think it just became a lack trust,” Robertson said. “They didn’t believe Kawhi couldn’t play and that caused a lack trust in us and then us not believing in them.”

Robertson went on to say that the Spurs medical staff didn’t want to believe that Kawhi was in significant pain and kept clearing him to play even though it was obvious that he wasn’t ready. For “Uncle Dennis,” Leonard is too much a competitor to just stop playing because an injury. He tried to fight through it but at the time, it simply wasn’t an option.

“Any time a player says he’s not capable playing, you should believe him,” Robertson explained. “Why would Kawhi just stop playing all a sudden? He’s a competitor. Sometimes you get these team doctors telling you what you can and cannot do, and Kawhi was just in too much pain to get out there. This was a serious issue. They didn’t believe him, and after that, the relationship couldn’t recover and we decided we had to move on.”

Leonard and the Raptors will start the NBA Finals at home on Thursday against the Golden State Warriors.

Stephen A. Smith Breaks His Silence On The Baby Filter Memes

Stephen A. Smith is one the most entertaining sports analysts on television thanks to the way he’s able to express himself on topics that he is particularly passionate about. Because his mannerisms, Smith has become quite the meme factory especially when it comes to his “stay f the weed” catchphrase. Over the past few days, Smith has become even more a meme as Twitter users have been subjecting him to the Snapchat baby filter which as the name suggests, makes you look like a baby, all while altering your voice.

Fans have been taking some Stephen A’s best rants, particular his LaMar Odom crack moment and have given them the baby filter treatment.

Today, Smith took to Twitter to humorously disavow the memes saying “Y’all really NEED to stop with these baby filters.” Of course, Smith is just kidding around here as in the video, he is using the babyface filter. Although it is interesting to note that he pronounces meme as “ME-ME” instead “MEEM” which will surely generate even more ridicule at some point.

In the video, Smith goes on to say that he particularly enjoyed the LaMar Odom meme and that he hopes to see even more baby filter edits in the future. Whether or not you agree with Smith’s sports takes, you got to admit these edits are pretty funny.

Draymond Green Calls LeBron James Playoff Absence A "Mindf*ck"

For the last four seasons, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers have played against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. This season, James joined the Los Angeles Lakers who missed the playfs with a record 37-45. It’s been weird not seeing LeBron in the playfs which have actually negatively affected the television ratings, according to commissioner Adam Silver

In a recent article from Bleacher Reportthey asked players around the league what it’s been like to not have LeBron in the playfs and some the responses were pretty interesting. Draymond Green had particularly strong feelings about his absence, especially considering they’ve met in the finals four years in a row.

“It’s just weird,” Green said. “More as a basketball fan than anything: ‘Damn, Bron not there. It’s super weird. You always relish the opportunity to play against a talent like that.”

Green and the Warriors will be playing against either the Toronto Raptors or the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA Finals this season. As Green explains, it’s going to be odd not having to guard the King.

“It’s just weird to look over there to know that you’re going to play someone completely different,” Green said. “It’s kind a mindf*ck.”

Spotify's Bitter War With Songwriters Claims Its First (But Not Its Last) Casualty — Adam Parness

Spotify’s decision to publicly oppose the Copyright Royalty Board’s (CRB) 44% songwriter royalty increase has created a PR nightmare for the company.

Top music industry executives, publishers, and songwriters have spared no words in slamming the music streaming giant.

Vowing to defeat Spotify’s CRB appeal, Warner/Chappell in a public letter to the industry,

The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) and other trade bodies, of which Warner/Chappell is a member, are being very vocal in their opposition to this appeal.

As such, we will vigorously seek to protect the value of music and passionately promote the rights of songwriters.

On Twitter, influential music exec Irving Azoff ,

Apple understands they’re in the artist business.  Clearly, Google, Pandora, Spotify, and Amazon don’t.

Justin Tranter, who has written songs for Ariana Grande, Fall Out Boy, Justin Bieber, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Gwen Stefani, said,

Without songs, these tech companies have nothing to stream/sell.  Shameful.

Others took a more direct approach, like notable music lawyer Dina LaPolt.

Spotify, you cheap pieces of s—t.   F—k you and your secret bulls—t Genius awards.  You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Finally, in a united front, the songwriting community – including Ali Tamposi, Frank Dukes, Teddy Geiger, Babyface, and Nile Rodgers – penned an open letter to Spotify CEO Daniel Ek.

We’re hurt and disappointed.  You created a songwriter relations team and ingratiated Spotify into our community…You have used us and tried to divide us but we stand together…

WE all create the ONE thing you sell – songs….

Do the right thing and drop your appeal of the Copyright Royalty Board rate determination.

Oblivious to the criticism, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek explained the royalty increase would ultimately hurt consumers.  Defending the company’s much-maligned feud with the CRB, he added Spotify won’t ever change its position.

We think $10 a month is a very, very cheap and an amazing proposition.  But the amount of people who wake up in the morning thinking, ‘Hey, I want to like pay $10 a month for music’ isn’t as great as most people would believe.

Stating over 30,000 artists now make a wonderful living off of Spotify – as well as songwriters – Ek later ,

I don’t know what the number is now but it’s far greater.  Even on Spotify itself, it’s far greater than [30,000 artists].”

Now, Spotify’s public feud with songwriters has claimed its first victim.

Adieu, Adam Parness.

Spotify’s Global Head of Publishing, Adam Parness, has resigned.  He’ll officially leave the company on June 3rd.

Parness had joined the company two years ago, previously serving in publishing relations roles at Pandora and content acquisition at Amazon.  He reportedly led efforts at Spotify to add songwriter and producer credits.

Parness’ abrupt departure may not be the only casualty of Spotify’s bitter feud with songwriters.  An unnamed senior US publishing executive lamented,

It feels like all of the people who took care of music publishers at Spotify are jumping ship.

“Adam was a true champion of music publishers in that company.  He will be sorely missed.”

Watch Berner & Logic Taste Test Their New "Anxiety Killer" Weed Strains

Los Angeles, CA – Berner and Logic have reached a major milestone in their quest to collaboratively develop new strains of weed focused on killing anxiety.

Last September, Merry Jane reported Berner and Logic were working on creating a strain of weed, much like Wiz Khalifa’s own Khalifa Kush, and planned to produce a documentary detailing the process of the collaborative cross. The pair have since been working hard developing their exotic flower and have shared the first glimpse of the process.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, (May 23) Berner shared footage from January featuring Logic and a number of his other associates in the studio taste testing a number of unique and new strains. The El Chivo rapper appeared extremely impressed with the results, saying he and Logic had been actively working for months on the strains.

“First joint of anxiety killer right here,” Berner says while showing an exorbitantly fat joint.

“It’s a breeding project I did with Logic — took the time, it has been about a four or five-month process,” he continued.

The video is about five minutes long and shows the guys testing out a couple of different strains, all of which they insist are tasty. The clip also appears footage of Logic recording his verse for Berner and Mozzy’s track “Ayy” from their collaborative album Slimey Individualz around the four-minute mark.

Peep the full video of Berner and Logic’s anxiety killer taste test above.
