David Ortiz Suspected Shooter Reportedly Part Of $8,000 Hit

David Ortiz was shot in the Dominican Republic over the weekend and is already well on his way to recovery. The Boston Red Sox legend ended up undergoing surgery in the DR and was then transported to Boston where he had received even more care. Ortiz’s wife has made some updates on the situation saying he’s been able to walk around and that he will make a full recovery. This is all great news although it is disconcerting when you think about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Eddy Vladimir Feliz Garcia was one the men believed to be an accomplice to the shooting and was immediately apprehended by civilians who beat him up and then handed him over to the police. Since then, four more men have been arrested in connection with the shooting, including Rolfy Ferreyra who is believed to be the alleged shooter.

Police in the Dominican Republic are currently reporting that this was an orchestrated attack against Ortiz and that a 400,000 Peso, or $8,000 hit was placed on Ortiz, according to Complex. Authorities have also recovered the gun that was used and even showed it f to the media.

Regardless the investigation at play, we are sending best wishes to Ortiz as he works his way to recovery.

St. Louis Blues Win First Stanley Cup In Game 7 Against Bruins

Hockey on a hip-hop website is a rare sight but when you consider what the St. Louis Blues accomplished this season, it’s only right that they are given their due praise. On January 1st, the Blues were a joke a team. They were last place and had no hope to even think about making it to the playfs. That’s when the team made a drastic change at the goaltender position, replacing Jake Allen with 25-year-old minor league goalie Jordan Binnington. Binnington was an immediate success with the Blues and dug them out a huge hole as he led them to the playfs.

The Blues went on to eliminate the Winnipeg Jets, the Dallas Stars, and the San Jose Sharks en route to the Stanley Cup Finals. The only team left in their way was the mighty Boston Bruins who were dominant this season. Binnington went toe-to-toe with Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask in what ended up being a seven-game series. In Game 7 last night, Binnington stood on his head as the Blues managed a 4-1 victory, upsetting the B’s and earning their first Stanley Cup since entering the league in 1968.

Admittedly, I was skeptical that the Blues could pull it f. Not because they didn’t have the will to do so, but because the Bruins have a championship pedigree thanks to a team experienced veterans. Instead, the Blues proved to the world what a great story they have been this season. They showed the sports world what parity looks like and you can’t help but feel a sort satisfaction to see such a team hoist one the greatest trophies in sports.

There will certainly be one commenter who will tell me I was wrong about my prediction yesterday and honestly, I’m glad I was wrong. It was a fairy tale end to fairy tale season for a team and fan base that had suffered for far too long.

Old Navy Apologizes To Woman Who Was Grabbed & Allegedly Racially Profiled By Employee

An Old Navy Canada employee is out a job after a video went viral that showed her grabbing a customer that she accused shoplifting. Ontario, Canada resident Lisa Calderon shared videos on her Facebook page that showed the encounter she had with an Old Navy employee and mall security guards. Calderon claims that she visited the store because she wanted to exchange some merchandise. She writes that she was being racially priled and it made her feel uncomfortable, so instead making the exchange, she just decided to leave and go somewhere else.

However, while she was at another store looking at shoes, an Old Navy associate named Stephanie approached her and accused her shoplifting. According to Calderon, Stephanie said that Calderon exited Old Navy wearing a different shirt than when she’d entered. “She then proceeded to put her hands on me in front security guard Quesada 10830909, after getting very irate they advised her to let go, I went back to the store and had to wait, after she already said she previously seen the video. Her manager Gillian Pike than apologized, took my info after approx 15mins and said they would get back to me with the district store manager.”

Calderon continued, “I would’ve been more calm and understanding if she didn’t accuse me first, and would’ve been happy to show my receipt, especially because I voiced my racial prile complaint to the employee before I left the store. This needs to stop, Stephanie had no Right to aggressively lay her hands on me and accuse me stealing a $13 dollar top, had she not have done that this situation would’ve ended quietly.”

It’s been two days since the video the incident first hit social media and after the video went viral, Old Navy Canada issued an apology on their Twitter account. “Old Navy was founded to be a place where everyone belongs. It’s been a part our culture & values since day one, and that makes it even more upsetting when incidents occur that don’t reflect those values.”

“We are so sorry that our customer Lisa Calderon had an unacceptable experience in one our stores, and we apologize for letting her down. We investigated quickly & thoroughly,” the company continued. “The employee involved in this situation is no longer with Old Navy. Our commitment to ensuring everyone who shops and works in our stores feels welcome & respected is a top priority. As part our commitment, we have ongoing training for our employees and strict policies in accordance with our values.”

Anthony Davis Rumors: Lakers Offering Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram & 4th Pick

The Anthony Davis trade rumors are heating up, as both the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics are reportedly engaged in negotiations with the New Orleans Pelicans.

According to The New York Times’ Marc Stein, the Lakers have made Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and the fourth overall pick in the June 20 NBA Draft available in talks with New Orleans. Stein also notes that the Lakers appear keen on keeping Kyle Kuzma out any trade discussions.

Depending on what a third team can bring to the table, Stein believes the deal can get done in advance the draft next Thursday. It remains to be seen which team will jump in as the third wheel, but rumors suggest that the Washington Wizards or Atlanta Hawks could be involved.

Earlier this week, New Orleans Pelicans executive vice president basketball operations, David Griffin, reached out to several teams interested in trading for Anthony Davis and provided them with a framework  the package the team is hoping to get in return.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, “Griffin is pursuing a combination assets that include an All-Star player, a young player with All-Star potential and two first-round picks, league sources said. Those wants are on a sliding scale. For example, the better the player, the ster the requests on the draft picks — and vice versa.”

Siri Now Supports Spotify, Pandora, Audible, and Other Platforms

Thanks to iOS 13, Siri now supports third-party applications.

Siri, Apple devices’ built-in AI, is set to receive some significant upgrades.

iOS 13, an upcoming firmware update for Apple products, will provide Siri with the ability to operate third-party music, audiobook, and entertainment applications, including Spotify, Audible, and more.

This news has been positively received by Apple diehards and casual users alike; Siri’s inability to use third-party applications had long been a source of frustration for those who own Apple products.

In the past, Siri has been able to activate Apple’s apps, including iTunes and Apple Music, but was not capable of interacting with third-party programs; users had to access the applications manually.  After iOS 13 launches, playing songs on Spotify, for instance, will be as easy as telling Siri to, “Play rock music on Spotify.”

Artists, albums, and songs can also be specified.

However, failing to mention the application through which the song, audiobook, or other media should be played will cause Siri to default to Apple programs, the company revealed.

For example, saying “Siri, play Led Zeppelin,” will cause the AI to play Led Zeppelin in Apple Music.

This caveat hardly seems like a deal breaker, and entertainment-loving Apple owners haven’t made much of an issue about it on social media.

iOS 13 will also introduce performance benefits, swipe-typing features, an improved version of Apple Maps, and more. While the cumulative advantages of these additions are significant, Siri’s enhanced functionality has received the most positive attention from Apple owners and members of the press.

Apple did not provide a specific launch date for iOS 13, but the update is expected shortly. Moreover, the operating system’s public beta will drop sometime in July. iOS 13 will be available for download on most Apple products, and future Apple tech will automatically be equipped with the firmware.

Here’s to greater options and more convenience while using Siri.

Anthony Joshua Hits Up Charity Event With Prince Harry After Historic Loss

Anthony Joshua was considered one the best heavyweight boxers in the world before his fight against Andy Ruiz Jr, a couple weekends ago. Despite being a 25-1 underdog in that fight, Ruiz was able to pull f the huge upset which led many to wonder about whether or not Joshua was actually as good as people thought. Joshua will have a chance to prove himself in a rematch which will go down in either November or December.

In the meantime, Joshua is making sure he still serves the public as today, he was spotted at a local gym with Prince Harry for the launch the Made By Sport campaign, according to TMZ Sports. This is an organization that helps connect youth in disadvantaged areas to the world sports.

Joshua and Prince Harry seemed to be all smiles at the event especially as the former heavyweight champion gave some boxing tips to all the kids who were in attendance. Joshua didn’t seem to carry himself like a man who had just suffered the worst loss his career, which is a testament to AJ’s character.

As for Joshua and Prince Harry, the two have been good friends for a while now so it’s nice to see two friends supporting each other for such a great cause.

Anthony Davis Will Not Re-Sign With Celtics If Traded To Boston, Says Rich Paul

Anthony Davis and Klutch Sports agent Rich Paul have made it quite clear that there are only a couple teams that Davis is willing to re-sign with if traded by the New Orleans Pelicans this summer. Those teams are the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.

That said, other teams like the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers have all reportedly inquired about a potential trade package with New Orleans. And if the Celtics do decide to pull the trigger on a trade for AD, the 26-year old superstar is reportedly planned to leave the following summer.

“They can trade for him, but it’ll be for one year,” Paul says, according to Sports Illustrated. “I mean: If the Celtics traded for Anthony Davis, we would go there and we would abide by our contractual obligations] and we would go into free agency in 2020. I’ve stated that to them. But in the event that he decides to walk away and you give away assets? Don’t blame Rich Paul.”

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Davis has listed the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks as his “two desired long-term destinations.”

NOLA’s desired trade package, which may take multiple teams to complete, consists a combination an All-Star player, a young player with All-Star potential and two first round draft picks.

"Hard Knocks" Announces Oakland Raiders As Subject Of New Season

One the most dysfunctional teams in the NFL last season were the Oakland Raiders who were playing their first season under head coach Jon Gruden. Gruden pretty well took over the entire team and made some questionable personnel decisions, including the trade Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears. The Raiders ended up finishing the season with a record 4-12 and were the subject some pretty hefty ridicule from fans around the league.

Heading into this season, there is no telling what the future holds for the Raiders but lucky for us, the team will be the subject the popular HBO series Hard Knocks. Yes, that’s right, the Raiders and their newest wide receiver, Antonio Brown will be gracing the screen to show us all just how interesting this team is going to be. Gruden is typically some must-see television but if you were to add in someone like Brown, the possibilities are truly endless.

If you’re looking forward to the new season, it will be premiering on August 6th on HBO just a few weeks before the start the regular season. Even if you’re not a big fan the Raiders, this will surely be a season to remember.

Shazam Now Identifies Songs Played on Other Apps — But Only on Android

Prior to its acquisition by Apple late last year, Shazam had bled millions.

Breaking down the song recognition app’s for 2017, the company reported a gross profit of £38.4 million ($50.6 million at the historic exchange rate), up just 2.3% year-over-year.

While that sounds good at first, Shazam’s administrative expenses also increased.

In 2016, the company posted £41.6 million ($54.8 million) in total administrative expenses.  That number jumped 35.2% to £56.3 million ($74.1 million) in 2017.

Had it not been for Apple’s $400 million acquisition late last year, the company would’ve likely drowned in debt, just as most music tech startups do.

Taking full advantage of the purchase, the Cupertino tech giant from the music identification app last December.

Now, as the app’s developers prepare to offer exclusive series content access on Apple Music, Books, TV, and Podcasts, Shazam has unveiled a new feature.

Identifying what you’re listening to through your headphones.

On Android, the Apple-owned app has launched Pop-Up Shazam.

In the company’s latest Android version of the app, Shazam quickly tracks and identify songs played through wired headphones and earbuds as well as wireless Bluetooth headsets.  In short, Pop-Up Shazam no longer needs to hear a song through your smartphone or tablet’s speaker.  The new feature tracks and identifies songs played on other apps.

The Pop-Up appears as a floating chat icon on your phone’s UI, similar to Facebook Messenger.  Once the app successfully identifies the song, users receive a notification featuring the song and artist name.  You can also access additional information, including a track’s complete lyrics.

To get started, Android users will first have to enable the notifications under Settings.  Strangely enough, the iOS version of Shazam hasn’t made the feature available just yet.  This may be due to an iOS restriction, which disables developers’ ability to access audio playing through another app.

It remains unclear when this feature will come to iOS, if ever.

Since most people probably don’t want to talk about last night’s basketball game where the Raptor’s lost to the Golden State Warriors by one point, we’ll just focus on Drake who was seated courtside in a watch worth a cool $750K. The Scorpion rapper attended the game wearing an all-black Nike get-up paired with a luxurious accessory called the Richard Mille “69 Tourbillon Erotic” watch.
