Bill Murray Admits To Misjudging Selena Gomez: "I Like Her Very Much"

Bill Murray has become a legend in the hip-hop community, if only because the GZA once described him as “Bill Groundhog Day, Ghostbustin’-Ass Murray.” In that sense, many fans have come to respect his wisdom and insight, even if he doesn’t directly operate under the greater hip-hop umbrella. Of course, his tenure as a legendary and beloved actor certainly helps. Most recently, Murray is starring in the upcoming film The Dead Don’t Die, which stars Adam Driver, Selena Gomez, Steve Buscemi, the aforementioned RZA, and more.

With the movie hitting theatres on June 14th, Murray has already begun making waves on the press circuit, particularly over his comments about co-star Selena Gomez. As it happens, he originally found himself negatively predisposed toward the young actress, largely due to her ridiculously gargantuan flock Instagram followers. Speaking with People, Murray reveals that he was ultimately pleasantly surprised by Gomez, so much so that he would have liked to introduce her to her mother.

“I learned that I like her,” he admits. “I learned that whatever preconception I had about someone that had 55 million, billion followers something, maybe, I probably thought she was different than she turned out to be. I enjoyed her very much. I like her very much. If my mother were alive I’d bring her home to her. ‘Mother. I want you to meet Selena.’”

Tyler Perry & BET Partner Up For Streaming Service Offer

There are reportedly over 200 streaming services in the United States alone, and now Tyler Perry and BET want a piece the pie. The media mogul and the popular urban network are planning to launch a new subscription-based streaming service called BET+. According to Deadline, they will fer TV shows and films from fellow Viacom flagships MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central. It’s believed that Perry will begin plugging the service and the forthcoming BET Awards.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see original programming, including both films and television series, flooding the streaming service from Tyler Perry Studios, too. There’s not yet word on how much the service will cost viewers, but Deadline suggests that it will be comparable, if not slightly less, than what’s currently being fered in the market. The Wall Street Journal spoke to a source who claims to have intimate knowledge the deal, and they made it clear that BET and Perry are looking to tap into the African American market, not become the next big global competitor.

“This really suggests quite a significant opportunity to complement the services that are out there,” the person said. “This is not about replacing a Netflix or replacing a Hulu or replacing an Amazon.”

Cardi B & Offset Gush Over Their Daughter Kulture Nearing One-Year Birthday

It’s hard to believe that Baby Kulture will be one-year-old in a month. Offset and Cardi B are proud parents who love to show f their daughter on social media, whether she’s having cute or fussy moments. Earlier this year, Cardi B told Harper’s Bazaar that motherhood has shifted her perspective and made her a reformed party girl. “I just wanna be home all the time,” Cardi said. “I don’t care about going out anymore. The things that I thought matter, it didn’t really matter. I’m just so focused on my kid. I don’t be sad for long because whenever I’m with my baby, it’s like, ‘Yeah, whatever. F*ck everybody.'”

Both parents recently took to social media to share more photos Kulture as they anticipate her turning one-year-old. Cardi wrote, “My baby 11 months and I can’t handle it 🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭😢😢what’s wrong with me ? I been emotional all day😭😭😭😭I’m fine,I’m fine ,I’m fine .Im madly ,overly in love with my child ❤️❤️❤️Thanks @fsetyrn.”

Steph Curry Talks "Ugliness" Of Raptors Fans Cheering Kevin Durant’s Injury

The Golden State Warriors were able to scoot by with a one-point win over the Toronto Raptors on Monday evening’s Game 5 the NBA Finals. Following Kevin Durant‘s untimely exit after going down in the second quarter, it was reported that Durant was suffering from a calf injury. Later, Warriors general manager Bob Myers admitted that it was his Achilles. “It’s an Achilles injury,” Myers said in an emotional statement. “I don’t know the extent it. He’ll have an MRI tomorrow…I don’t believe there’s anybody to blame. But I understand this world. And if you have to, you can blame me. I run our basketball operations department.”

As Durant made his way f the court, Raptors fans cheered as they watched the wounded Warriors player. Many Raptors team players held their hands up to the fans to tell them it wasn’t appropriate behavior, and in a post-game interview, Steph Curry also addressed the “ugliness” he witnessed that moment.

“I’ve been in this city for…I’ve lived here. Really enjoyed the people and their passion and excitement for not only the game but they] just enjoy life and they’re nice people,” he said. “I’m] very confused around that reaction. That’s not my experience with the people this city. I commend, obviously, Danny Green and Kyle Lowry especially. I think they were the ones that were kinda signaling to the crowd like, let’s check ourselves a little bit. You understand that this is about an individual and human being and not, oh shoot, he’s out, he’s hurt, we won the championship. That was probably their initial thought and…you hate to see that when a guy’s going through pain like that. Again, that’s not my experience with this city and I just hope that that ugliness doesn’t show itself again as we go forward in the series.”

Draymond Green told USA Today Sports the taunting reaction from fans was “bullsh*t.”

Following the Warriors’ Game 5 victory, Durant wrote on social media, “Dub nation gonna be loud as f*ck for game 6. I’m hurting deep in the soul right now I can’t lie. But seeing my brothers get this win was like taking a shot tequila, I got new life. #dubs”

Kevin Durant Officially Cleared To Play In Game 5

Warriors’ fans have been frantically refreshing their default search engines in the hopes gaining a more conclusive answer to Durant’s status ahead Game 5. It’s been a few hours since Durant declared himself willing to participate in the contest, pending a medical clearance. At this point, Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr could only confirm that his star player “looked good” in practice and they, his staff, would take it from there.

Whether Kerr’s words connoted gamesmanship or actual uncertainty, is anyone’s guess. More importantly, no one was EVER doubtful  Durant’s best intentions – even though many have speculated that he’s lost his spark for the game basketball in a repetitive, winning motion. Not… my thoughts exactly.

Notwithstanding Kerr’s final verdict notwithstanding, the NBA’s ficial website brought the speculation to a close, by quoting the Warriors’ coach in their ficial media report confirming his in-game status. Before the update was even published, a video Durant entering the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto had already begun enticing the NBA massive into an uncontrollable fit excitement. If you readily thought Golden State plays better without KD in the lineup, please look away – and stay firmly planted in your booster seat. Game 5 is about to be a dandy.

Paradigm Talent Agency's Chairman Walks Away From UTA's Acquisition Offer

Several days ago, rumors pointed to United Talent Agency’s (UTA) intentions of buying out rival Paradigm Talent Agency.

Sources speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, for example, said talks were “real” and had “heated up lately.”  Yet, several large hurdles remained as both sides went on the record stating such a deal never existed.

Now, to shut down the buyout rumor, Paradigm’s top boss has stepped in.

Yes, UTA had wanted to purchase Paradigm.

In an e-mail sent out to employees yesterday, Sam Gores, Paradigm’s Chairman, confirmed acquisitions talks between both top talent agencies did exist.  Yet, before they could go any further, he walked away.

Paradigm’s roster includes Coldplay, Shawn Mendes, Halsey, and Imagine Dragons, among many others.

In the e-mail, Gores explained,

UTA made an offer to acquire Paradigm that would have represented one of the largest talent agency transactions in the history of our business.

The offer was made for both the Talent/Literary and Music divisions…  After careful consideration and in consultation with leaders of both the Music and Talent/Literary executive groups, I have made the decision to shut down discussions and not make this deal.

The acquisition talks first started after Endeavor, WME’s parent company, filed to go public two weeks ago.  This will help the talent agency – considered one of the ‘Big Four’ alongside CAA, UTA, and ICM Partners – raise much-needed capital to further eclipse its rivals.

Founded in 1992, Paradigm has ten offices in the U.S., Canada, and the UK.  If the acquisition went through, UTA would’ve become one of the world’s top talent agency, if not the top.

According to sources speaking with Deadline, Paradigm decided to reject buyout talks over a potential “clash of cultures.”  Yet, both talent agencies’ top executives had gotten along well.

Gores added,

There are reasons why a combination like this would have made sense for both agencies, but in the end, what is more compelling for us is how unique the culture at Paradigm is and how powerful our independent path can be.

Expressing his disappointment over the rejected acquisition, Jeremy Zimmer, UTA’s CEO, said,

We admire Sam and the business he and his colleagues have built.  We’re disappointed we didn’t come to an agreement.  But we wish him and everyone at Paradigm the best.

FBI Confirm They’ve Analyzed "Big Foot" Hair

People have been trying to prove that Big Foot exists for ages, and according to newly released documents from the FBI, the government agency actually looked into it at one point. According to NBC News, a man from Oregan pressed the GBI to test hair and tissue samples that he believed could belong to Bigfoot.

“The FBI has analyzed hair in connection with the search for Sasquatch, aka ‘Bigfoot,’” an internal FBI memo from February 1977 states.

The Oregan man, 93-year-old Peter Byrne, said that he’s still on the hunt to prove the existence the creature. “It’s a great challenge,” Byrne said about his decades-long search for the Yeti. Byrne’s gone on three lengthy searches for the Yeti in Nepal in the 1950s but no dice. After moving back to the States in the 60s, he directed “The Bigfoot Information Center and Exhibition” in Oregon where — with the backing some wealthy men — he would try to come up with conclusive evidence Big Foot.

The newly released documents confirmed communication between the FBI and Byrne, although he downplayed that he did.

“The FBI has analyzed hair in connection with the search for Sasquatch, aka ‘Bigfoot,’” the agency wrote. “It was concluded as a result these examinations that the hairs are a deer family origin. The hair sample you submitted is being returned as an enclosure in this letter.”

Byrne explained in his letter to the FBI in the 70s that the hair wasn’t able to be identified and that the FBI needed to examine in in order to confirm that this could be Bigfoot’s hair.

“We do not ten come across hair which we are unable to identify,” he wrote. “Will you kindly set the record straight, once and for all, inform us if the FBI has examined hair which might be that a Bigfoot, when this took place, and if it did take place what the results the analysis were…Please understand that our research here is serious.”

DJ Khaled, Tyler, the Creator & DaBaby Maintain Positions In Top 10 Of Billboard 200

This week on the charts, the top 10 the Billboard 200 has remained pretty static where hip-hop is concerned.

You’ll find No. 1 occupied by country singer Thomas Rhett for his Center Point Road project, clocking in at 76,000 equivalent album unit with 45,000 accounting for pure album sales, marking the biggest week in sales for any country album in 2019.

Wunderkind Billie Eilish is still making waves with When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? slips down to No. 2 with 63,000 units while DJ Khaled‘s Father Asahd pushes down to No. 3 with 39,000 units. Next up is Khalid’s Free Spirit still finding a home in the Top 10 at No. 4 with 38,000 units.

The only other debut the weeks belongs to Miley Cyrus, who enters at No. 5 with 36,000 units for her She Is Coming project, the first three EPs set to lead into She Is: Miley Cyrus. Altogether, including her Hannah Montana stretch, this marks Cyrus’ 12th Top 10 effort.

Tyler, The Creator leads the second half the list at No. 6 with his “mysterious” IGOR earning 32,000 album units while Elton John locks in his 20th top 10 effort as his greatest hits album Diamonds, zooms from No. 23 to No. 7 thanks to the success his Rocketman biopic.

Closing things out is DaBaby‘s Baby On Baby at No. 8 with 31,000 units while the Aladdin soundtrack slides down 6-9 with 30,000 before Ariana  Grandes Thank U, Next ends things with just under 30,000 units.

Henry Cejudo Wipes The Floor Of Marlon Moraes At UFC 238: "I’m The Greatest All-Time"

Marlon Moraes and Henry Cejudo met at the crossroads for the main event at UFC 238 last night. The Brazilian challenger held the distinction number one contender status in the bantamweight division. Since T.J Dillashaw had to vacate the bantam belt due to a doping scandal, the division was seemingly his for the taking – which is evidently why Moraes treated Cejudo like an unwanted guest in his house.

Cejudio’s aspirations towards multi-division excellence were encouraged by UFC boss Dana White, much to the chagrin Moraes, who watched as the former Olympian was granted what he felt was an undeserved “bye” up the bantamweight ranks. For Moraes, the feeling was akin to a stranger stealing food right from the grasps a beggar in need.

Unfortunately for Marlon Moraes, he was not up to the task last night. After a dominant display in the first round, Moraes would succumb to Cejudo’s mode attrition. By the 3rd round, a battered Moraes was brought to the ground where a flurry overhead strikes awaited him. Referee Marc Goddard would inevitably put an end to the contest once it had become apparent that Moraes could no longer defend himself.

“I’m not champ-champ,” Cejudo exclaimed in a post-fight monologue. “My name is Triple C — Olympic champion, flyweight champion the world and now bantamweight champion the world. I’m the greatest combat athlete  all time and I just stole the title best pound-for-pound fighter too.”

In the aftermath his devastating loss, Moraes had very little to say beyond an expression gratitude towards his fans and supporters. “Thanks for everyone’s support,” he wrote on Instagram. “The fight continues.”

Rajon Rondo Explains Lakers’ "Psychological Undoing" During Anthony Davis Talks

Like a true pressional, Rajon Rondo waited until the end the season to air out his teammates’ grievances in 2018-2019. In speaking with Bleacher Report for an op-ed report titled “RAJON RONDO UNPLUGGED,” the four-time NBA All-Star confirmed our greatest suspicions: that midseason trade talks did in fact, stifle the young Lakers core their everyday confidence. Rondo took it a step further by describing the recruitment AD as the “psychological undoing” an upward trending roster.

“You can’t really relate to it until you’ve gone through it,” Rondo began to explain. “Not knowing the future, waking up every day—and now you’re on the phone reading stuff. When I was going through it, there wasn’t so much social media; it was just on TV.”

“You’d hear it, or someone would text you about it, but it wasn’t so much in your face, with eight different blockbuster or proposed trades and your name in every one them. Every Instagram scroll, you’re in it. So, psychologically, it probably took a toll,” he continued, before touching on how his younger self had reacted to similar distractions (in Boston).

Nonetheless, Rondo didn’t scapegoat LeBron James for his prominent role in the midseason recruitment Anthony Davis. Instead focused on the need for the team to become more self-reliant, outside his or LeBron’s proven leadership model. “No one person can have it all,” Rondo said LeBron. “Who did he respect coming in? Who were his vets that showed him the ropes on how to be a leader?

Cardi B Defends Her Songwriting

Cardi B is clapping back at her pressed critics over songwriting claims.

On Thursday (June 6), the Grammy-winning rapper took to Twitter to address reports that she doesn’t write her own lyrics.

In response to one commenter who questioned why Cardi was included on Billboard’s Top 100 Songwriters of 2018, Kulture’s mother defended herself. “Because I do write a lot of my shit that’s the thing,” she tweeted.

The 26-year-old rapper admitted that she has co-writers, but still writes herself, including on her debut album Invasion of Privacy and Gangsta Bitch Music mixtapes. “Yes just like every other artist I do have a couple writer that help with hooks but I wrote plenty of songs on my album specially my mixtape,” added Cardi.

She ended it with a message for her haters: “Ya just flip shit and ya want to believe the fuck shit so bad but EAT IT UP BITCH!”

Cardi is credited as the sole writer of her latest single “Press,” which dropped last month. She is now gearing up to release her highly-anticipated sophomore album later this year.

On June 23, Cardi will perform at the 2019 BET Awards, where she is nominated for seven awards, including Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Video of the Year, and Album of the Year.

Kawhi Leonard On What Finals Title Would Mean to Canada: "I’m Not Really Sure"

Kawhi Leonard is notoriously unbothered f the court.

After Leonard led the Toronto Raptors to their third win the NBA Finals championship series Friday night, the star admitted in a press conference that he’s not really too sure what a championship win would mean for Toronto or Canada as a whole for that matter.

“I’m really not sure,” he responded when prompted. “I guess you really have to ask somebody on the street or one our fans. I’m pretty sure it’s a long time waiting, they’re going to be excited. They’re already excited, just us being here for the first time. They were going crazy after the Eastern Conference Finals. I don’t know. There’s no tellin’. You gotta ask, like I said, a fan or somebody that’s been livin’ in Canada for a while. I know they’re going to be super excited. I don’t know. We’ll see.”

His rather toned down response is pretty well-warranted considering that Kawhi has only been with the team for one season, impressively leading the squad to such heights within the span that time. Nevertheless, it would signal the first time the Larry O’Brien trophy would find a home north the US-Canadian border.

The Raptors have the chance to make that a reality when they face f with the Warriors on Game 5 on Monday (June 10th). They led the series 3-1.
