Los Angeles, CA – YG was stopped by paparazzi at the Los Angeles International Airport on Monday (July 1) and asked about Slim 400 who was recently shot nine times in Compton. In video obtained by TMZ, the Compton-bred rapper spoke on the incident involving his “Bruisin” collaborator.
Although he was primarily tight-lipped and admitted he hadn’t seen him yet, YG did say, “He’s straight. He’s good.”
He added, “400 niggas don’t die, the money multiply … the homie alive, don’t even worry about nothing. He pulled through already. No, he’s not [up and moving].”
Slim is expected to make a full recovery despite being shot in the upper and lower back, jaw and head. As pointed out by VladTV, Slim’s recovery time is two months and during that period, his jaw will be wired shut. This is reportedly the third time Slim has been shot.
Lil Nas X closed out Pride Month with a big announcement.
On the last day of June, the “Old Town Road” hitmaker revealed that he’s gay. He referenced his song “C7osure (You Like)” off his debut EP 7 as confirmation, saying that he thought he had already made it clear.
“some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to ‘c7osure,’” he tweeted, along with the rainbow emoji, a symbol of the LGBTQ community.

“True say, I want and I need to let go, use my time to be free,” he sings on “C7osure.” “Ain’t no more actin’, man that forecast say I should just let me grow / No more red light for me baby, only green, I gotta go … Pack my past up in the back, oh, let my future take ahold / This is what I gotta do, can’t be regrettin’ when I’m old.”
Later in the day, he posted the cover artwork for his eight-track EP, which finds him riding a horse in front of a rainbow skyline, which he zoomed into. “deadass thought i made it obvious,” he wrote.
His decision to reveal his sexuality was reportedly inspired by his surprise performance of “Old Town Road” with Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus at the Glastonbury festival in England on Sunday (June 30). According to TMZ, he felt love from the 180,000 fans in attendance and was stunned by the reception.
Sources close to the 20-year-old rapper say Nas feels he can be a role model for other young people who are scared to come out, but he doesn’t want to necessarily become “the poster child for the LGBTQ community.” He believes this will not hurt his career and will give others inspiration.
After leaving the stage, he tweeted the declarations, without explicitly saying he’s gay. His tweets were met with an outpouring of support from fans, who vowed to protect him against those who may bully him because of his sexuality.
Boi-1da, who produced “C7osure,” was among the first to express support for his collaborator. “Go krazy lil bro we love you,” he tweeted.
Stormi Webster is already slaying magazine covers this early in life, because, why, well not? The toddler recently turned one and to celebrate her first year life, her mommy Kylie Jenner and grandmother Kris Jenner fered her a cover to Harper’s Bazaar. “Here’s to STRONG WOMEN! May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them,” shared Jenner in a caption tied to a photo featuring the trio wearing Dolce & Gabbana leopard-printed styles. And considering how stunning all three them look on the cover, we can surely expect that there will be more covers featuring Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner’s bundle joy in the future.
This would not be the first time a Kardashian-Jenner youngster features on the cover a magazine. North West had her first magazine cover at 5 years old. Kim Kardashian and Kanye’s eldest daughter was featured on WWC’s new Beauty Inc issue. As you would expect with a five-year-old, the shoot was playful with bubbles, funky sunglasses, and more to keep little Northie entertained. She stuns in the final photographs, following beautifully in her mom and dad’s footsteps and raising the bar for her siblings to meet in a few years.
Rochester, New York, rapper/producer Pounds released a new visual for “Equifax” — which appears on his Blue GardeniaEP — on Tuesday (July 2). The video is an appetizer sure to keep fans on edge as they wait for the two projects he has dropping later this summer.
In July, he’s slated to release The T.O.N.Y. EP, which will feature bars from the likes of Bodega Bamz, Crimeapple, and Flee Lord — with production from Eto and Spittzwell. In August, he’ll follow that up with Trafficante — an LP produced entirely by iconic producer Buckwild, whose expansive catalogue includes work with rap icons The Notorious B.I.G and Big L.

After months post-production, J. Cole and his Dreamville roster have landed on a date for Revenge Of The Dreamers 3. With the compilation album set to arrive on Friday, July 5th, the camp came through to deliver a few appetizing singles. The first was “Lambo Truck,” a conceptually-driven west-coast anthem by Cozz and Reason, with Childish Major on the hook. The second and more immediate the two was “Costa Rica,” one the many posse cuts to manifest. In fact, “Costa Rica” has been long teased through behind-the-scenes snippets, with one particular clip Ski Mask’s rambunctious verse setting the tone.
Off the bat, it would appear that “Costa Rica” lived up to the hype, garnering a “VERY HOTTT (83% as now)” rating from our users. And given that posse cuts this nature have become an increasingly rare structural form, it seems appropriate to take a deeper dive into the track’s standout members. With verses from Reese LAFLARE, Bas, Jace, Mez, Smokepurpp, J.I.D., Buddy, Ski Mask The Slump God, and a strong hook from Guapdad 4000, there’s no shortage options. Brief though their verse may be, each artist plays a role in adding a layer character to the song; you can feel the energy throughout, a reflection the creative and collaborative Dreamers 3 studio sessions.
But who left the best impression? Was it Bas or J.I.D, representing on behalf the Dreamville camp? Was it Atlanta’s own Reese LAFLARE, who had the difficult task setting things f with the opening verse? Ski Mask The Slump God’s closing verse certainly brought some noted charisma to the mix, with his “Going on a date with an AK!” line serving as a form “hook 2.0.” And there’s also Mez in the mix, who has been quietly solidifying himself as one the nicest lyricists in the game, complete with an Arthur reference.
By your estimation, who held it down on “Costa Rica?” And do you want to hear more posse cuts like this, once the full project surfaces on Friday?

It hasn’t even been 48-hours since Lil Nas X revealed to his fans that he’s gay and already he’s got a few candidates wanting a shot with the young music maker. “Some y’all already know, some y’all don’t care, some y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure,” Lil Nas X shared on Twitter the second to last track on his debut tape.
Love & Hip Hop: Miami’s star Bobby Lytes clearly saw the news and was all kinds excited, sharing an image to his Instagram feed with a photo Lil Nas X and a suggestive caption about his new Man Crush Monday. “#MCM ❤️🤷🏽♂️ somebody tell Lil NasX I’m tryna riiiiidee till I can’t no more!” Bobby wrote alongside the image.
The joke the day surrounding Lil Nas X’s coming touches on his “ride no more” lyrics on his hit “Old Town Road” track. But don’t get it twisted, the 20-year-old jumped on Twitter to let it be known that the song is really just about horses. “Old town road is literally about horses,” he wrote.
In another tweet, Lil Nas shared another note about his sexuality. “Just cuz i’m gay don’t mean i’m not straight,” he wrote.
If Lil Wayne wanted to, he could never spend another cent his already-earned money and stay eating f features for the rest his life. The man probably fields hundreds requests a day, and more so than most artists his stature, takes quite a few them. This week, he’s inside our top ten three times, none which are songs that count him as the lead artist.
Behind Wayne’s three entries, Chris Brown and Joyner Lucas have two apiece. New songs barely missing out on spots inside the top ten this week include G-Eazy and Tyga’s “Bang” (#11), Rick Ross’ “Numb Numb Juice” freestyle (#12), Kevin Gates’ “Push It” (#14), and Cassie’s “Excuses” (#15).
10. Vybz Kartel – Loving Every Minute
Vybz Kartel has been away behind bars for some years now, and it’ll be even longe until he’s freed, but that hasn’t stopped him from sporadically releasing new music. His latest is “Loving Every Minute,” and it debuts at #10.
9. Joyner Lucas – Broke And Stupid
Months have passed since Joyner Lucas first announced his debut album, ADHD, and we still don’t have any news about a release date. He has kept fans slightly satisfied with a smattering new tracks, the newest being “Broke And Stupid.” It debuts at #9.
8. Kevin Gates – Return the Mack
Kevin Gates’ new song “Return the Mack”: unfortunately not a Mark Morrison cover, but fortunately a complete banger in its own right. This one debuts at #8.
7. Big K.R.I.T. Feat. Lil Wayne & Saweetie – Addiction
Weezy’s first appearance this week comes courtesy a new single f Big K.R.I.T.’s recently-announced K.R.I.T. Iz Here project, which arrives in less than two weeks on July 12th. “Addiction,” which features Saweetie in addition to Lil Wayne, debuts at #7.
Gucci Mane dropped f Delusions Of Grandeur, his first project 2019, two Fridays ago, and after placing one its songs in last week’s top ten, he’s back with another a week later. The Lil Baby and Gunna-assisted “ICE,” which also counts one the duo’s go-to collaborators, Turbo, as producer, debuts at #6.
Chris Brown’s Indigo is finally here, and if you didn’t think the anticipation was high for this one, look no further than our chart, as two the new album’s songs appear within our top five this week. The Justin Bieber and Ink-assisted “Don’t Check on Me” comes in first with a #5 debut.
4. Jeezy Feat. Master P – Gone
This month, Master P will commemorate the 20th anniversary his film I Got the Hook Up with the release a long-awaited sequel. Released from the film’s upcoming soundtrack last week was Jeezy and P’s “Gone,” which debuts at #4.
Dre, Cool & Dre, is much better known for his production than his rapping, but he gets to do some the latter on this new collab between him and past collaborators Fat Joe and Lil Wayne. “Pullin,” which samples Marvin Gaye’s iconic “Let’s Get it On,” debuts at #3.
Young Buck fired f a diss track at former G-Unit partner 50 Cent last week, but something went awry. Soon after being posted, Buck’s “The Story Foy”— which, like Pusha T’s “The Story Adidon” before it, samples Jay Z’s “The Story OJ”— was taken down. Nevertheless, it still debuts at #2.
1. Chris Brown, Lil Wayne & Joyner Lucas – Need A Stack
We may never see that joint album that Chris Brown and Joyner Lucas (okay, mostly Lucas) once promised, but they’ve still got some collaborations in the vault. One is “Need A Stack,” an Indigo cut they also threw Lil Wayne on. It debuts at #1.
Stockholm, Sweden – A$AP Rocky and his crew were apparently involved in an altercation while overseas. In video obtained by TMZ, the A$AP Mob rapper gets into a heated altercation with two men at a Max restaurant in Stockholm on Sunday night (June 30).
The reason for the argument was allegedly over a pair of broken headphones.
Sources reportedly say the two men kept following Rocky and threatened to call the cops over the headphones. Someone stepped in to translate the argument between the two group of men and Rocky issued an ultimatum — stop or else.
A woman interrupted the conversation and accused one of the two men of grabbing her inappropriately. Witnesses say at that point Rocky and his entourage decided to attack.
During the fight, someone smashes a bottle and three other men jump in to join the beatdown.
After Rocky and his friends fled, an ambulance and cops were dispatched to the scene. Police took statements from the witnesses at the scene.
Wiz Khalifa is usually best known for his cool & laid back demeanor, but that wasn’t the case this weekend. In a rare occurence, Wiz showed some angry emotions, and looked to be yelling at a groupie at a party for interrupting him while he was playing some pinball.
In the footage that surfaced online, the female can be heard saying “concentrate,” right before Wiz gets angry and starts yelling “stop f**king talking to me” as he messes up in pinball. The woman then can be heard saying “I didn’t talk,” to which Wiz again reiterated, “stop fucking talking.”
It’s unclear if Wiz was really that angry over a game a pinball unless there was some money on the line, but my guess is the video makes it look worse than it really was.
This clip surfaces just weeks after finding out that Wiz is working on his next album, which Juicy Jsays is coming soon. Check out the viral-clip (below) and let us know your thoughts on the matter.
Influential music industry manager Scooter Braun made a surprise announcement this past weekend.
He Taylor Swift’s former label, Big Machine Label Group (BMLG). And, with the acquisition, all of her pre-UMG masters.
Under the deal sealed over the weekend, Scott Borchetta’s label will now form part of Braun’s Ithaca Holdings. Carlyle Group, which financed the purchase, will assume a minority position in Ithaca. In addition, Carlyle will inject an additional investment in Braun’s holding company, raising its valuation to over $800 million. Big Machine Label Group will now blend into Ithaca, which includes School Boy Records, Atlas Music Publishing, and artist/label services group SB Project.
Unfortunately, someone wasn’t very happy about the deal – Taylor Swift.
Slamming Borchetta with every insult in the book, she took to social media, labeling the acquisition “my worst-case scenario.”
“This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept.”
Stating she had “woken up” to the news along with everyone else, she called Braun a “bully.” Despite owning hundreds of millions of dollars, Swift claimed she had pleaded “for a chance to own my work.”
This isn’t exactly true.
Quickly responding to Swift’s hypocritical social media post, Borchetta wrote an article, titled
In the post, he explains Scott Swift’s – Taylor’s father – was a shareholder in BMLG. He, along with Taylor, were notified days before the official acquisition news.
“Out of courtesy, I personally texted Taylor at 9:06pm, Saturday, June 29th to inform her prior to the story breaking on the morning of Sunday, June 30th, so she could hear it directly from me.”
In short, Taylor Swift played the victim and lied to her fanbase.
Now, as the true story continues to unravel, Justin Bieber has called out Swift’s own bullying against Braun.
Standing up to Swift, the true bully in this story.
Taking to Instagram to defend his manager, Bieber reminded the pop star how Braun gave her a much-needed big break.
“Scooter has had your back since the days you graciously let me open up for you!”
In addition, as the years passed, she never reached out to either party “to communicate our differences, hurts, or frustrations.” Instead, Swift merely took to social media to “get people to hate on Scooter.”
Posting a picture of himself alongside the now-pop star, Bieber apologized for his hurtful, “bullying” comments in the past. Yet, he also said her actions against Braun weren’t warranted, and thus weren’t “fair.”
Calling out her “hurtful” post, Bieber questioned Swift.
“What were you trying to accomplish by posting that blog? Seems to me like it was to get sympathy u also knew that in posting that your fans would go and bully Scooter.”
He concludes, reaffirming Braun’s and his ‘love’ for Swift.
“I usually don’t rebuttal things like this but when you try and deface someone I [love]… that’s crossing a line…”
Father’s Day may have been over two weeks ago, but some gifts are certainly better late than never. Princess Love, who has been married to Ray J since 2016, has just gifted the artist a brand new Ford Mustang. According to TMZ, she contacted Pazi Performance Auto Body Shop & Customization in Burbank and had them custom make the car. Originally, the goal was to have the ride finished by Father’s Day, June 16th, but the design took slightly longer than anticipated. Surely, Ray J doesn’t mind the wait; he was reportedly stoked when he saw the new blacked-out Mustang.
This isn’t the first holiday this year that has ended with Ray J pulling away in new wheels. Earlier this year, for his thirty-eighth birthday, Ray J treated himself to a $400,000 car shopping spree. He was able to land himself a 2018 Mercedes-Benz Maybach at a whopping $320,000, as well as a 2019 Lincoln Navigator for $90,000.
His new ride features his company’s red logo over each the matte black doors. All-together, the car cost Love a $125,000 check (apparently each rim alone costs $1000) and will surely make an impressive addition to his car collection. Princess Love undoubtedly did well by her husband this Father’s Day.
Miley Cyrus delivered an electrifying set at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in London where she surprised her fans with a visit from Ashley O – her Black Mirror character from the latest season on Netflix. Miley hit the stage with a purple wig, a hat with the letter “A” on it, bejeweled jacket and silver boots. Miley performed the beloved song that Ashley O sings in the episode, “On a Roll,” that fans can’t help but get stuck in their head considering the disturbing premise the episode.
Along with her killer performance, the 26-year-old also delivered some words on inspiration during her set, shouting out her parents for always pushing her to be her best self. “I just want to let you know in many ways this show has changed my f—ing life drastically. A lot hard work, a lot dedication and a lot sacrifice,” she told the crowd. “Both my parents, who are side-stage right now, have taught me that that’s the only way anything is going to happen for you.”
Ian Gavan/Getty s
“My dad had an amazing analogy for me,” she added Billy Ray Cyrus. “He said go sit on a bicycle and go to the very top the hill and watch how fast you go downhill and it’s going to be easy. Now do the same thing, sit on that bicycle and go uphill – it’s not going to do it for you. You are going to have to work your f—ing a– f and you are going to feel it the next f—ing day, but it’s going to be worth it because you did something.”
She added performing at the beloved festival, “You did something that you thought you couldn’t do. And that is what I’m doing.”
Holding one her children’s hands, LL took to her Instagram story to share a clear image her healed tattoo. Placed on the lower portion her arm, the work takes up a big space on Lauren’s body, sitting in a spot that will be visible much the time. That’s how much she loved Nipsey Hussle. The large-scale portrait is incredibly well-done, serving as a constant reminder that Nipsey will always be looking over her and their family.
God bless Lauren London and long live Nipsey Hussle.
While Madlib is generally noted for his calm demeanor, and speak less- do more mentality, on June 29th he used Twitter to make the least subtle inferences. His flex: using an iPad, and solely an iPad to produce all the beats on Bandana with Freddie Gibbs. After dropping the incredulous claim, Madlib hopped in a cabby, never to be seen again – until early this morning, when his conscience caught up with him.
Madlib elaborated on those claims in a subsequent Twitter post. By the sound it, a good number Twitter users/hip-hop enthusiasts were perturbed by his perceived audacity. And thus, Madlib felt the need to clear the air, his intentions never irreverent or divisive in nature. For Madlib, creativity can be harvested on a moment’s notice; the same CAN’T be said your average bedroom producer, especially with so few resources (i.e an iPad tablet).
“Some these n—s mad lmao. I’m gonna keep making good music I like,” Madlid wrote in the subsequent post. “I’m gonna keep doin my thing till i’m 90. i’m gonna keep getting better. That iPad remark was just to say stop making excuses – use a tape deck if necessary. Technology is what you make it.”
That said, the negative reaction over Madlib’s initial Tweet is quite telling: jealousy is a scourge. Those who bought iPads to diddle on the toilet should take note: technology can limit your creativity, but it also provides a structural base for your work. Pick your poison, and remember, no one that YOU or anyone for that matter, become a jobless creative type. Don’t you dare scapegoat Madlib’s iPad efficiency.
