Tristan Thompson Ordered To Pay $40K Per Month In Child Support Payments For Son

Tristan Thompson’s personal life is playing out in the headlines, on reality television, and in court. The Cleveland Cavaliers star has been taking hits lately as his ex-girlfriend and mother his son, Prince, has stated that Thompson left her for Khloe Kardashian. He went on to have a two-year relationship with Kardashian and in that time she gave birth to their daughter True, but they split over his alleged encounter with Jordyn Woods.

According to documents obtained by Radar Online, Jordan Craig and Thompson have been battling it out in court over child support payments. In Craig’s original court documents, she claimed that Thompson had only visited with his son nine times in two years. In January 2019 during his deposition, he denied that accusation but said he couldn’t remember the exact number times he’d seen his son.

Craig and Thompson’s attorney, Peter Lauzon, faced f in court as she argued that her son should be afforded the same lifestyle that Thompson is living. “On Tristan’s spreadsheets, it looks like he’s frequenting Nobu and several top-rate restaurants — Craig’s in Los Angeles. My child should share in the same lifestyle,” Craig said. “Whatever that child is living, like I said, whatever restaurants…they take that child to or that Tristan is even just going to, my son should be doing the same thing.”

“When you say ‘that child,’ you’re referring to True?” Lauzon asked.

“Absolutely,” Craig responded.

A judge ruled that Thompson will have to pay $40K per month in child support for Prince plus $200K in back child support. The $40K will continue until Prince is 18-years-old; or until he graduates from high school; or becomes self-supporting and emancipated; or ordered by the court.

But wait, there’s more! Thompson also has to dish out $1,250 per month to a savings plan for Prince along with $2,000 for his private tutor. If he attends a private school the tutor’s payments will cease, but Thompson will still be responsible for 100 percent the school’s tuition.

Testimony During 1st Congressional Hearing On Reparations Yields Heavy Emotion

Washington, D.C. – The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties held a hearing at Capitol Hill on Wednesday (June 19) to talk about the “legacy of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, its continuing impact on the community and the path to restorative justice.”

As reported by CNN, New Jersey Democratic Sen. Cory Booker, writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and actor Danny Glover testified before the House panel.

During the hearing, the panel discussed H.R. 40, legislation that would “establish a commission to study the consequences and impacts of slavery and make recommendations for reparations proposals.”

On Tuesday (June 18), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell caused an uproar when he said reparations aren’t a “good idea,” something Rep. Jerry Nadler addressed with Coates.

In what was an undeniably eloquent response, Coates outlined how slavery still impacts African-Americans today.

The last time Congress held a hearing on the topic of reparations was 2007, but the idea has recently gained new traction.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) sponsored the resolution earlier this year and advocated for this week’s hearing, while Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi hinted her support in February during an event at Howard University.

“While we have focused on the social effects of slavery and segregation, its continuing economic implications remain largely ignored by mainstream analysis,” Pelosi said.

June 19, which is also referred to as Juneteenth or Emancipation Day, is particularly important because it celebrates the end of slavery.

On June 19, 1865, Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger of the Union Army finally notified slaves of their emancipation more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation had been written and read.

Juneteenth started in Texas and is the oldest known U.S. celebration of the end of slavery. There are 46 states with laws pertaining to Juneteenth. In fact, Pennsylvania on Wednesday became the latest state to officially recognize the day.

Twitter has exploded with reactions to the hearing. Check some of them out below.

Beyoncé’s Dad Talks Colorism & Says If Daughter Was Darker It "Would Have Affected Her Success"

The issue colorism is a sensitive topic that has once again surfaced in the hip hop industry. Recently, Tory Lanez has spoken out on the subject following what he claims was a discriminatory move he witnessed while on the set Nafe Smallz’s music video. In a clip that went viral, Lanez was shooting a scene with a dark-skinned model when she was replaced with a lighter-skinned model.

While the moment has sparked a debate on social media in regards to the validity the incident, it’s also created a dialogue about colorism in the media—more specifically, within hip hop culture. Mathew Knowles, father to Beyoncé and Solange, sat down with Clay Cane on SiriusXM Urban View on Tuesday and their chat included just that subject.

Knowles was once the head honcho when it came to Destiny’s Child, and as their manager, he was instrumental in shaping the careers the superstar girl group. During his discussion with Cane, the host shared that his Texas Southern University students did a study that showed in a 15-year period, Top 40 airplay artists who were black women were all lighter-skinned. This list included Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, and Beyoncé.

“In the music industry, there’s still segregation, as you know,” Knowles said. “There used to be the black division, race records and programmers, especially at pop radio, has this imagery what beauty looks like. They wanted that imagery to be the same that’s singing those records. If you look back, even like Whitney Houston, if you look at those photos, how they lighten her to make her look lighter complexion because there’s a perception in colorism…the lighter you are the smarter, the more economically… all around the world about color, even with black folks, there’s a perception.”

“How different do you think Beyoncé’s career would have been if she were a darker skinned woman?” Cane asked.

“I think it would have affected her success. I use Kelly Rowland as] a great example,” Knowles responded. “The great thing is Kelly did exceptional outside America, especially in Australia. Kelly sold over 4 million records.”

Master P & Romeo Weigh In On Anthony Davis Trade: "We Got Everything"

New York, NY – It appears NBA history was made for the second time in less than a week. On Saturday (June 15), one of the biggest trades in Los Angeles Lakers’ franchise history saw the team shipping Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart — and three first-round picks — to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Anthony Davis.

The trade — aside from putting massive pressure on Davis and LeBron James to provide massive ROI — earmarks a new era for New Orleans, which is expected to select Zion Williamson for the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

On their way to Good Morning America, father/son duo Master P and Romeo Miller — both New Orleans natives — spoke to TMZ. During their conversation, they weighed in on the epic trade and what it means for the future of the franchise.

“It’s a win-win for everybody,” Romeo said. “They got Brandon Ingram, and I think Lonzo Ball is a hell of a player. They got Josh Hart, too. It’s like we have two Lakers teams now, Lakers and Pelicans. They both win.”

When asked about whether Ball would make a perfect running mate for Williamson, Romeo noted the duo would be “a beast.”

“I think the Pelicans won the trade — we got everything,” Master P said later in the clip, before adding that a $20 million shoe deal for Williamson (he mentioned in a May interview) was still on the table.

P also predicted joining the new era of the New Orleans Pelicans squad would be an especially good look for Ball.

“Coming to a place like New Orleans, we (really) love our team man, so it’s a good look,” he explained.

In Chronicle Of A Serial Killer, X is set to play a character named Detective White, the man tasked with tracking down the titular killer (played by Brendan Sexton). Interestingly enough, actor Michael Madsen was originally set to play White, but was dropped after being hit with a DUI arrest. As it happens, the casting director suggested DMX as a replacement, a move with which director Steve Stanulis endorsed to the fullest. As TMZ reports, Stanulis praised X’s versatility, claiming the rapper is “going to bring a different dynamic to the role.”

The movie also stars Tara Reid, Eric Roberts, and Aly Mang, and while it’s unlikely this one will see a theatrical release, it’s still nice to see DMX once again getting back into the swing things. Have you any interest in catching this one, once the filming process comes to an end? Perhaps DMX’s presence will bring a new set eyes to the film, which may have otherwise flown under the radar. Keep it up, X!

U.S. Patent Office Reveals Microsoft's Next Gen AirPods Killer Dubbed the Surface Pen

Apple’s wireless earbuds, the AirPods, have proven a success for the Cupertino tech giant.  Now, Microsoft wants in.

Providing an estimated amount of units sold, Ming-Chi Kuo, a trusted Apple analyst at TF International Studies, says the company sold around 16 million AirPods in 2017.  That number soon rose to 28 million a year later.

Last year, he predicted AirPods sales would reach 55 million units in 2019, 80 million in 2020, and 110 million in 2021.  Consumers, Kuo said, would push toward upgrading Apple’s wireless earbuds rather than their iPhones.

The Cupertino tech giant has fiercely guarded the overall sales total of the AirPods.

Now, with the success of its wireless earbuds, a rival wants in.

Introducing Microsoft’s AirPods Surface Pen.

According to Patently Apple, which about the ‘resurrection’ of Apple Music Up Next – its former indie-centered mini-documentary series – the U.S. Patent Office has published a patent application from Microsoft.

Currently known as the Surface Pen, the new wireless device has a “capacitive stylus nib” along with an earpiece dub.

The earpiece will include a speaker, an earpiece battery, and a wireless radio built right in.  The wireless radio remains configured to “communicatively” pair with a host device.  This comes several months after Microsoft patented a foldable dual display device first revealed by Intel.

Speaking about the dual display device, Patently Apple explained,

Devices like [Intel’s] Copper Canyon, on the other hand, are being designed for enterprise and business professionals along with college students where multitasking is more of a priority as is a manageable form factor.

The website added Microsoft wants to add a next-gen Surface device as well as a “revolutionary” Surface Pen accessory doubling as a wireless earpiece.

By flexibly bending the pen around the user’s ear, the user will be free to listen to music or use it as a presentation slide controller.

The schematics published by Microsoft reveal a computing system and the Surface Pen in different modes of operation.

You can view several pictures of how the device will work below.

Jason Momoa Wants To Be The Next "Wolverine"

Jason Momoa recently shared that he’d love to play Wolverine. The actor shared the latter when asked what Marvel Universe character he would see himself playing while he was in Santonio at Celebrity Fan Fest. Moreover, there was no hesitation in his voice as though his mind was already set from the jump: “Wolverine. Oh, I’d love to play Wolverine.” He also spoke about the actor behind the title role, famed actor Hugh Jackman: “He was phenomenal. I grew up just loving Wolverine.” The revelation is interesting considering Momoa is currently under contract with DC Comics to continue on as Aquaman. Though that does not mean he is unlikely to cross over. Additionally, we can surely expect Marvel to revive the Wolverine story with a different actor in due time. Indeed, timing is everything.

Aside from this, the last we’ve reported on Jason Momoa, he shaved his iconic beard to save the planet. The Prince Gypsies grabbed the razor to promote his new aluminum cans, which are “100% recyclable, so you drink the can and in about 60 days, it’ll be back.” The environmental-friendly initiative was revealed to cease all use plastic water bottles which are highly harmful to the earth.

YouTuber Buys Michigan Town & Renames It "Gay Hell" To Spite Trump

Pride Month is fully underway and we’ve been making an effort to highlight some the top talents that are represented in both the LGBTQ+ and hip-hop communities. We recently published a piece about the Prism Battle Rap League, which houses some the freshest lyricists from the LGBTQ+ community. We also wrote about stars like Frank Ocean, iLoveMakonnen, Quay Dash and others who are seriously shaping the way we look at hip-hop and its surrounding culture. With so many people taking advantage the month June to show they are allies to their LGBTQ+ peers, YouTuber Elijah Daniel decided to take things one step even further by purchasing an entire town and renaming it just to spite Trump.

In a piece news that has impacted most major networks today, Elijah Daniel has bought the town Hell, Michigan and decided to rename it Gay Hell. The town has been on sale for years and as the new mayor Hell, Daniel’s first action was to announce the name change. In a direct response to Trump banning embassies from flying pride flags, the content creator is enforcing a rule that only pride flags can be flown in Gay Hell.

Back in 2017, Daniel was also the mayor Hell and he banned heterosexual people from the town as a stunt according to CNN. This most recent move is funny but it’s far from a stunt. This time, Daniel is trying to send a message and it’s coming through loud and clear.

Kawhi Leonard Reportedly Not Interested In The Lakers

Kawhi Leonard will be one the biggest stories in free agency thanks to his unique situation with the Toronto Raptors. Leonard just helped the team win their first ever championship and won NBA Finals MVP in the process. Despite his success with the Raptors, it has been believed for some time now that he actually wants to play in Los Angeles where he grew up. In the meantime, Raptors fans are trying to convince the superstar to stay so that he can instill some longterm success for the franchise.

It has also been reported that the Lakers are interested in Leonard but based on a new report from Adrian Wojnarowski, Leonard is more interested in playing for the other team in Los Angeles, the Clippers.

As he explains, Leonard probably wouldn’t even take a meeting with the Lakers and that he is leaning towards staying with the Raptors or heading over to Doc Rivers and the Clippers. Either decision would be huge for the league as the Raptors are trying to become a dynasty while the Clippers are looking to become a contender in the depleted Western Conference.

Free agency begins on June 30th at 6 P.M. EST so that’s when players will be allowed to start meeting with teams.
