Rolling Loud Active Shooter Scare: Here's a Statement from the Festival

The Rolling Loud Festival is recovering from an active shooter scare over the weekend.

Thankfully, there wasn’t an active shooter at the Miami mega-event.  But at some point during the festivities Friday night, reports of a gun-wielding assailant triggered panic among attendees.

Anyone who’s witnessed the large crowds at Rolling Loud — or any large music festival — can quickly guess the problem that developed.

Many booked for the exits or safe shelter, prompting a stampede and numerous injuries.  At this stage, the total damage seems limited to a few injured concertgoers, though full details are still emerging.

As an aside, reports of a high-speed drive-by shooting involving Rolling Loud performer Young Thug have also emerged.  But that violence reportedly occurred on the nearby I-95 highway earlier on Friday.

Here’s a full statement from Rolling Loud’s cofounder, Tariq Cherif, on the situation.

“Shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday night, there was a disturbance that led a large group of fans to believe there was an active shooter within the festival grounds.  The commotion resulted in these fans running out of the venue, some of whom were injured and/or scared in the process.  Security and public authorities immediately sprung into action, established it was a false alarm and there was not an active shooter in the festival, and diffused the situation.

“Safety is #1 at Rolling Loud. We have hundreds of police officers and security guards hired to protect our fans. While we are upset this situation occurred, we are proud of the swift reaction of law enforcement to verify the area was secure.

“Thank you for understanding,” he added. “Let’s all come together today with positivity and have a great day.”

The statement was posted early on Saturday, May 11th on the festival’s Instagram account, hours after the Friday night incident had died down.

Joyner Lucas Says Church Got Paid For "Devil’s Work" Video After Pastor’s Criticism

Whether or not you like Joyner Lucas, if there’s one thing we know he’s good at, it’s starting a dialogue. A few weeks back, the rapper unleashed his latest single, “Devil’s Work” which is f his forthcoming project, ADHD. The single and music video for it sparked controversy across the board. Many accused him trying to capitalize f the deaths Nipsey Hussle and XXXTENTACION while Tomi Lahren got upset that yet another human being wished death on her… and Trump.

“Devil’s Work” was filmed inside the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Joyner’s hometown  Worcester, Mass. In the music video, the rapper is seen inside the pews while drinking out a bottle Hennessy which caused a pastor from the church to criticize the rapper. He said that he wouldn’t have approved the rapper filming the video if had known that Joyner was praying for God to strike death upon people (i.e. Tomi Lahren, Laura Ingraham, Trump etc.).

Joyner recently responded to the criticism from the pastor. He said that the church was more than aware what was going down when he was filming the shoot and said that they even accepted money in order for him to film the music video.

Joyner also addressed whether he’s going to sit down with Tomi Lahren.

"Rolling Loud" Issues Statement Distancing Itself From Kodak Black’s Arrest

Rolling Loud’s PR team is taking measures to distances itself from Kodak Black‘s arrest, in light the fact he wasn’t apprehended on festival grounds. It’s safe to say the 2019 edition the tourney hasn’t gone as planned, and not because anything they or any their hundreds staffers put into motion.

The first knock came as Lil Wayne canceled his set in abrupt fashion after being forced to undergo by a spot check. By all accounts, Weezy wasn’t the only participant perturbed by ficials standing just outside the entrance. In all fairness to Rolling Loud, Lil Wayne did fer a distinction – the so-called “Festival Police” unit wasn’t, to his knowledge, employed by the festival, but an outside source.

“The Festival Police (Not Rolling Loud) made it mandatory that I had to be policed and checked to get on the stadium grounds. I do not and will not ever settle for being policed to do my job,” Lil Wayne lamented.

Then there’s Kodak Black’s arrest, creating yet another unforced void in the lineup. Given that Kodak’s arrest took place outside festivals grounds, over an outstanding criminal warrant, Rolling Loud was/is in no mood to let their brand integrity slip away –  due to something outside their control. Their statement reads as follows.

“May 12, 2019 – Miami, Florida –  Kodak Black was not arrested at Rolling Loud,” the statement begins matter–factly. “He was arrested on his way to the festival and we have no knowledge what led to the arrest since he was not on festival property.”

R. Kelly’s Daughter Forced To Drop Out Because He Stopped Paying Tuition

It seems trouble follows wherever R. Kelly goes lately. In the thick his numerous trials, we recently reported on R. Kelly acquiring a second chance on his sexual assault trial which he had previously lost by forfeit for not showing up. While the rapper experienced a small win, he was hit with an action capable jeopardizing his streak as the Cook County State attorney’s fice launched a phone line dedicated to answering phone calls from anyone who has been victimized by R. Kelly in the past. Considerably, the crooner better ensure to be fully lawyered up because it looks like his legal troubles will not end anytime soon.

To add another L to the list, TMZ reported on R. Kelly’s daughter, Joan Lee, being forced to drop out university because her father failed to foot the tuition bill. Lee also claims her father stopped paying for her housing and school supplies, furthermore alleging that she had to pay for her own books.

Despite his daughter’s claims, R. Kelly’s manager, Darrell Johnson, affirms the singer’s payments to be reliant on “billing statements and pro expenses” which the artist claims to have never gotten. Kelly also claims to have believed his daughter dropped out because she stopped providing pro payment requirements. Though sources shared with TMZ that Joan is ready to go back to school yet with all the legal issues her father has been experiencing, we can’t help but wonder whether or not it is financially possible.

"Pokémon: Detective Pikachu" Has Much More Than Nostalgia To Offer (Review)

Spoilers Ahead.

If you’re the millennial generation or Gen-Z, chances are that your childhood involved a healthy dose Pokémon. Whether it was on the fringes your social interactions or an intrinsic part your day-to-day life, there was a time when the handheld worlds these mythic yet endearing creatures was ubiquitous in popular culture. Cherished by adults and adolescents alike, the Japanese realm “pocket monsters” has nurtured such a retained prescience in all corners the globe that it’s now estimated to be the highest-grossing media franchise all time. A staple in video games and anime since 1996 and 1997 respectively, their tried-and-tested formula for success within these formats goes some way to explain why it’s taken until 2019 for a live-action Pokémon movie to hit the silver screen. As illustrated by misadventures such as Dragonball: Evolution, Assassin’s Creed and countless others, transposing the lore and far-reaching worlds these mediums entertainment has proven to be a delicate alchemy to perfect. Blessed and cursed with audiences that feel a deep-seated devotion to the sights and sounds their childhood, anime and video game adaptations very seldom equal or even come close to the lty expectations that the fanbases carry. However, it’s something that those who’ve been playing since generation 1 or were transfixed by the adventures Ash, Brock & Misty needn’t be reticent about.

"Pokémon: Detective Pikachu" Has Much More Than Nostalgia To Offer (Review)

Keith Tsuji/Getty s

Helmed by Rob Letterman– Monsters & Aliens, Shark Tale and Gulliver’s Travels— this daring project centres around Tim Goodman, an insurance appraiser that had left his youthful aspirations becoming a Pokémon Trainer behind him. After the disappearance his estranged father, he reluctantly makes the trip to his seemingly deceased parent’s residence in Ryme City. Upon entering his father’s apartment, he soon encounters a wisecracking Pikachu with a razor-sharp wit that only he can understand. Waylaid by a case amnesia, this talkative lightning type– and his comical over-reliance on cfee– convinces Tim to help him delve into the inconsistencies and mystery that his father’s alleged demise is shrouded in. Set in a utopian paradise where Pokémon and humans live side-by-side, this apparent exemplar coexistence was founded by Howard Clifford. The CEO the monolithic CMN corporation, he is presented as a benevolent, Darwinian figure that is only interested in the prosperity both species and enhancing human-Pokémon relations. Yet as the plot unfolds, it becomes increasingly clear that something untoward is afoot and it all hinges around the emergence an illicit substance known as “R.” A tale subterfuge and intrigue, to define the main plotline as a “mystery” would be a stretch– it takes little more than a few seconds cogent thought for it to unravel, but it’s more than enough to keep audience engaged. Amid all the controversy around the beguiling horrors live-action Sonic the Hedgehog, it’s a relief that the world Detective Pikachu is nothing short a veritable feast for the eyes. Whether scaled, furry or gilled, each Pokémon seems tangibly real and sidesteps the childhood-besmirching efforts their Sega counterparts.

Aside from circumventing the uncanny valley, the effects team have also done a great job in distinguishing each Pokémon and highlighting the idiosyncrasies that had us rushing for those game-link cables back in the day. As for the range pocket monsters that Tim and Pikachu encounter, the filmmakers have clearly made a concerted effort to incorporate beloved figures from across its canon. Whether interacted with or steeped in its lusciously-realized environment, fans are treated to stunningly rendered takes on Charizard, Charmander, Gengar, Eevee, Bulbasaur, Machamp, Primeape, Magikarp, Gyarados, Ludicolo and a fleet mischievous Aipom among many others. Although every Pokémon is eyecatching and faithful to the source material, the crowning glories come in the deceptively dangerous Psyduck and an inspired use roguish shapeshifter Ditto while a fully anthropomorphized Mr Mime puts in a scene-stealing performance that pokes gentle fun at the ludicrousness his central premise. As the trailers had alluded to, Reynolds’ Pikachu is the indisputable star the show here. Bursting with that snarky charisma that he implanted on Deadpool, he manages to provide some emotional heft when needed and even sneaks in a couple gags that teeter towards the PG-13 territory. Featuring a cameo from Diplo and Rita Ora, Justice Smith’s portrayal the reluctantly heroic Tim is handled capably but is clunky in places. Through no discernible fault her own, Kathryn Newton’s character Lucy Stevens is one the film’s less admirably fleshed out aspects the film. Positioned as an unpaid intern at CMN that yearns to be an investigate reporter, her continued use as a source exposition or plot device makes it feel as though she was created to make up for shortcomings in the writing team’s ability to interweave its story elements together while doubling as a love interest that’s been shoehorned in for good measure.

"Pokémon: Detective Pikachu" Has Much More Than Nostalgia To Offer (Review)

Billed as the first a minimum two live-action films, this adventure’s cloak-and-dagger nature means that it is relatively scant in terms the momentous battles that we’ve become acquainted with in Pokémon lore. With that said, the fleeting scenes combat make it clear that a more action-centric film would be well within their power in the future. With most the high-stakes moments confined to the third act, its final 20 minutes teaches us that aspects Ryme City’s alleged ethos harmony have been compromised and manages to make a very coherent point about the intrepid dangers human entitlement. Introduced a legendary Pokémon that long-time fans will be well-acquainted with, its climactic moments provide us with a twist that is somewhat unanticipated but consequentially creates a few glaring issues in regards to pre-established logic in the movie. However, it’s always important to remember that this film is aimed at a younger demographic than those who grew up with the franchise and thus it’s important to take the inner-workings its world with a pinch salt.

Overall, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is a fun-filled caper that goes way beyond fan-service and agilely leaps over the obstacles that befell many well-intentioned filmmakers in the treacherous world video-game/anime adaptations. Anchored by Reynolds’ magnetism and the immersive feel its CGI-infused world, the film would be enjoyable for those left dewy-eyed by nostalgia and the more ambivalent alike. A worthy addition to a celebrated franchise, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is accomplished while not taking itself too seriously. Provided that you bear this in mind and do the same, good times await.

Chris Brown Proudly Embraces Michael Jackson Comparisons

Despite fielding the occasional public shaming, Chris Brown‘s talent has been largely celebrated by the hip-hop community and beyond. Though Justin “Bugatti” Biebs stands rap adjacent at most, his words still do carry a certain weight within the game. Biebervelli recently took to Instagram to celebrate Breezy’s legacy, directly comparing Chris to the late King Pop himself, Michael Jackson. “I’m calling it now when CB passes away after a long full life, you will miss what you had in front you the whole time,” wrote Bieber, bringing an t-cited comparison into the public eye. The notion was more or less echoed by The Game, who bolstered Bieber’s thesis with his own on-brand take: “As far as people not wanting to work with Chris Brown… “Fuck You!”

While Breezy fered Bieber some truly kind praise, the singer slash dancer slash actor took to Instagram to fer his own interpretation the MJ parallel. For the most part, it seems as if Chris understands his position as the “Prince Of Pop,” at least by the estimation some. Sharing a piece artwork, Breezy praised MJ’s influence, explaining that he ultimately drew many lessons from Jackon’s career. “Learn from the greatness in a person .then learn from the greatness in you!” he writes, as an animated Jackson prepares to pass the crown.

What do you think the comparisons? Has Chris Brown earned the right to be mentioned in the same breath as Michael Jackson, or is the coveted “Prince Of Pop” still ripe for the taking?

Halle Berry Shows Love To Drake After Rapper Rocks Jacket With Her Image

Halle Berry has been mentioned in so many hip-hop songs that it’s hard to keep track how many rappers have placed her at the top their wishlists. Drake is one the many artists that have a crush on the actress, rocking a jacket with her image on the back and turning heads while doing so. It may have taken Halle a few months to formally respond but she made sure to return the favour, showing the Canadian kid some love.

Yesterday, the world-famous actress took to Instagram to post a playful snap herself wearing a shirt that effectively returns the love to Drake. One the rapper’s most memorable moments was on Big Sean‘s hit single “Blessings” and the hook is still stuck in Halle’s head so she wanted to remind us all that she’s “here for a good time, not a long time.” The photo tags both Drake and Big Sean, ensuring that the message gets to both artists respectively.

Halle Berry has been doing press for her new movie John Wick 3 and she revealed that while filming the flick, she suffered three broken ribs. She also touched on the Drake love. As for the 6ix God, he’s been staying busy in the studio and to get from point A to point B, he’s got a fresh aircraft all to himself.

McDonald’s Is Treating Americans To "International Menu Options" This Summer

Come June the 5th. 2019, McDonald’s lovers in the United States will be treated to host menu options that are normally to countries such as Netherlands, Spain, Canada, and Australia. The expanded menu options, as selected in no order whatsoever, range from the carb-loaded Cheesy Bacon Fries to sweeter delicacies such as the Stroopwafel McFlurry, which I’m told is a syrupy wafer cookie popularized in the Dutch city Gouda, which is incidentally also the place origin for the world famous cheese bearing its name.

Elsewhere on the menu, American consumers will be Tomato Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich, which if I’m not mistaken, is the closest McDonald’s clients will get to a chicken parm without paying restaurant prices. Let it be known, McDonald’s is not exactly “the restaurant” it sets out to be on a minor scale, and maybe that’s for the best.

Last but not least, the Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger gets added to the menu for the McAthletes who like to punch over their weight. Topped with Applewood smoked bacon and deposits cheddary goodness, you’d be hard pressed to find more glutton anywhere else on the expanded menu. Like anything that enters the market with a certain degree speculation, the 4 menu adds will likely vanish from the US market once the Summer comes to an end unless they go DUMB at the box fice for a sustained period time.
