We’ve been hearing about a lot mysterious tourists deaths in the Dominican Republic lately. And now we’re reporting on yet another which makes it the 9th American tourist to die while on vacation in the DR. According to Complex, 55-year-old Joseph Allen was found dead in his hotel room on the morning June 13th. His friend told his sister, Jamie Reed, that Allen “complained about being hot at the pool,” prior to his death. He allegedly shared he would be heading back to shower. When his friends joined him later on, he admitted he was not feeling 100% and was going to lie down for the night. The following morning, one Joseph Allen’s friends notice he missed breakfast and went up to his room to check up on him. Upon getting to answer, the friend reached out to security and they opened Joseph Allen’s door. They then found his dead body, lying on the floor. His body was cold, hence hinting that he had been dead for a while.

Tory Lanez has been the center controversy over the last few days after a video surfaced that showed him standing against colorism. The clip shows Lanez on the set Nafe Smallz’s “Good Love,” a track where he lends his vocals. In the scene, Lanez shares space with a dark-skinned model until someone asks her to step out so that she can be replaced with a lighter-skinned model. Lanez calls a time-out before bringing the original model back in.
As the video circulated throughout social media, the response was divided. Some people applauded Lanez for acknowledging colorism while others suggested that it was a staged act. Lanez received a bit backlash following his Ayesha Curry trade joke, and some fans felt as if this was his way making up for it. However, Lanez put those rumors to rest when he took to his Instagram Story and shared that he wasn’t faking or staging anything.
“The internet has a funny way tryna make the light f truthful shit. If this was a publicity stunt, why would I be doing it for someone else’s music video,” Lanez said. “Mind y’all this video shoot happened 3 months ago and a behind the scenes camera man DM’s it to me the other day,” he continued. “All parties that were involved know exactly what happened in the 30 minutes that I was at the shoot. Whether or not they wanna be truthful.”
That was to be the end the conversation, but TMZ caught up with one-half the duo directors the music video and he wasn’t happy about the suggestion that he favored one model over the other. Capone Capone x Giuse told the publication that they don’t discriminate when it comes to featuring black women with darker skin, especially because they’re heavily involved in the Afrobeats scene and most their work features women with dark complexions. Capone was adamant that no one on his team called for the women to be traded out, noting that most the people on set during that particular scene were from Lanez’s crew.
Could Akon be the latest rapper to join Love & Hip Hop Hollywood? The hit VH1 reality show has been shaking things up a bit with the cast, hoping to bring in some fresh blood in order to attract new viewers—and new drama. Over the last few days, there have been rumors floating around that the St. Louis singer was planning on making his reality TV debut on the upcoming season the show.
As soon as social media caught wind the information, the news spread like wildfire and was believed to be truthful. However, Akon adamantly denied the gossip and shared an image on his Instagram page that reads, “I am not joining Love & Hip Hop.” In the caption, he wrote, “Social Media is the Devil!!!”
Meanwhile, The Jasmine Brand claims to have exclusively reported that they’ve confirmed Akon and his partner, Tricia Ana, will be featured on the show. According to TJB, it hasn’t been revealed whether or not the 46-year-old artist will be a regular fixture, but he and Tricia Ana are set to make appearances. The status Akon’s relationship with Tricia Ana hasn’t been made clear as some people have called her his girlfriend while TJB states that she refers to herself as his wife and works with Akon’s Konvict Music as an A&R representative.
“We more than doubled our audiences using social media posts created with PosterMyWall.”
— Arielle Danos, Southern EarthTones band
The following guest post comes from PosterMyWall, a proud partner of Digital Music News.
The competition for musicians has never been more intense as you try to promote your band, your music, your sound. Along with the fact that an average person becomes distracted in 8 seconds, or less, there’s no time to waste in creating attention-grabbing promo graphics.
On social media, video generates 12 times more shares than text and images combined, while original graphics generate 40% greater engagement than stock graphics or pictures.
PosterMyWall provides jaw-dropping, customizable video and poster templates that can exponentially increase your audience engagement.
Read on to discover how you can use PosterMyWall to employ video, as well as other visual graphics that together will propel your music into the next big thing.
#1 Capture it on Video, and You Capture your Audience
Nothing engages an audience like video. But using video to hype your music may seem daunting, expensive, and requiring skills not in your toolkit. Luckily, do-it-yourself online tool, PosterMyWall, gives you easy to use, customizable video templates, as well as enables you to add your own audio tracks.
Design engaging promo videos for everything from a new album or song release, to studio clips (have a mind-blowing drum solo or a sizzling violin session?), to teasers for upcoming concerts. Tag your video with a short phrase (e.g., drum solo) that music enthusiasts may be searching for that will bring that audience straight to your band.
The digital world has dramatically changed the landscape of marketing musicians and their music. But fans still love to poster their walls with pictures of their favorite bands, concerts, and even lyrics. Post captivating graphics online, as well as give away mind-blowing posters that YOU designed, to keep your band as visually engaging as you are musical.
#2 Design Visual Content – Digital & Print
Visual content is a two-pronged approach to marketing. First, use visual marketing materials on digital platforms, especially your website. Promote gigs and sell new releases with attention-generating graphics. Second, print marketing, that is, posters and flyers, remain a tried and true method for getting the word out about your music. Future fans can’t hear you jam unless they visually learn where, when or how to listen.
It should be music to your ears that creating stunning marketing materials for digital and print use has never been easier with PosterMyWall, which offers a bonanza of customizable templates that enable you to design professional posters, flyers, banners and tour announcements. Incorporate photos of your events, crowd selfies, Instagram hashtags, and of course, your website address and logo before handing them out at events or posting them locally to build your brand recognition.

Not long after Griselda’s own Benny The Butcher revealed the release date for his upcoming The Plugs I Met, Westside Gunn came forward to detail his own upcoming endeavor. Yesterday, the entrepreneurial emcee shared the news that his FLYGOD IS AN AWESOME GOD album will be arriving on July 5th, though he’s opting to keep additional information close to the chest. One might be inclined to guess that Conway, Benny, and Daringer will be gracing the album, though given Westside’s extensive network, the sky is the limit.
The project marks his first full-length album since last year’s Supreme Blientele,a gritty serving Buffalo hip-hop styled after Ghostface’s classic a similar title. We can only assume that FLYGOD IS AN AWESOME GOD will bring forth more the same classic Gunn sound. Given that Griselda is ficially part the Shady Records family, perhaps we can expect Em and his camp to shine an additional spotlight on Westside’s upcoming effort; though a feature is unlikely, one has to wonder how Shady will factor into the movements moving forward. Perhaps we’ll soon find out.
Check out the ficial album artwork below, and be sure to sound f with your opinions. Are you excited to hear another studio album from Westside Gunn?
Ever since Nike teamed up with Off-White’s Virgil Abloh, the two brands have created some incredible sneakers and apparel. As Abloh has ventured into the world sportswear fashion, he has focused his efforts on women’s apparel which is reflected in the Nike “Athlete In Progress” collection. Today, Nike released the promotional trailer for the collection which features women’s Olympic running champion Caster Semenya.
This collection was first revealed back in September for a fashion show in Paris and will finally be released to the world on Thursday, June 27th. Included in the collection will be the Off-White x Nike Zoom Terra Kiger 5 which Semenya can be seen wearing in the video.
“I started talking with Nike about this women’s running project last summer and at the time, I was very much inspired by the aesthetic and style track and field athletes. As a result, I invited some Nike’s elite track and field champions to participate in my SS19 Off-White runway show as the natural forerunner to developing and showcasing the collection,” Abloh said in a Nike release.
The collection will put a large focus on track and field apparel which will certainly be good news for all the runners out there who are looking for some fresh gear.
Wyclef Jean has more to fer the world than just his music which is why the “Sweetest Girl” music maker wanted to one day be president his homeland, Haiti. The 49-year-old ran for the position in 2010 but ultimately got disqualified. Wyclef is sure that he made an impact either way and discussed the latter at Monday’s “Facts, Fads and a Fugee” panel.
“At a very young age, politics in Haiti has always been in the back my mind, and I knew 80 percent a population is living on less than a dollar a day. They talk about me running for president] but five years from that I was at the Congress — there were a few bills that I got passed for my country,” he said. “I’m all about job creation. That’s my whole thing within my country.”

Wyclef further explained how his musical background is something that helps him, not hinders him.
“I need people to understand that rappers have brains,” he said. “I really don’t think they understand how smarts celebrities are. Not all them, you know, but a lot them.”
He added: “I really can hear when I called up some my rap friends and I was like, ‘Yo, you know I’m going to run for president Haiti.’ I could hear them go, ‘This n—a crazy.’”
Of all the LeBron James signature shoes that have released over the last 16 years, one the most popular is the Nike Zoom LeBron 3. There are some pretty classic colorways this particular sneaker and Nike has been releasing some gorgeous colorways the shoe recently. One those models is the Nike Zoom LeBron 3 QS “Houston Oilers” which dropped overseas on May 1st. Sneakerheads in the United States have been waiting for the shoe to release stateside and this Saturday, they will finally be getting their wish.
The toe box, bottom half, and back heel are all white, while the top layer the sneaker is “Houston” blue with some red highlights near the white laces. The front and back the midsole is blue all while the middle part is white and red. In many ways, the colorway is reminiscent the Air Jordan 4 “Cactus Jack” which was also inspired by the Houston Oilers.
According to Bossip, Alex Fine liked a comment that reads: “Diddy really tried to steal your moment along with your photo. I think people can see now who he really is. He has no place in the future you have both built, you’re obviously a man with heart, integrity, and the right values. Blessings to you all.” While it may have been an accidental slip-up, it’s very possible that Alex and Cassie aren’t impressed with Diddy’s congratulatory message. Neither the two has publicly said anything about his well wishes and they may believe he’s only reaching out to strengthen his own brand.
What do you think? Is Diddy genuinely happy about Cassie’s pregnancy or do you think he’s salty?
In honor of Father’s Day, Champagne Papi shared a special gift he received from his son Adonis. Taking to Instagram, Drizzy posted a photo of the artwork that says “Papa” in a stencil cutout with splotches of paint around it.
Adonis, who turns two in October, is turning out to be quite the artist. Drake previously shared artwork he received from his son for Christmas. “Adonis > Picasso don’t @ me,” he wrote at the time.
The artistic gene runs in the family. Adonis’ mother, Sophie Brussaux, is a talented painter and shares her art regularly on Instagram.
Drake opened up about becoming a father and meeting his son for the first time on his Scorpion album. “I only met you one time, introduced you to St. Nick,” he raps on “March 14.” “I think he must have brought you like 20 gifts.”
During his appearance on HBO’s “The Shop,” he also gushed about Adonis. “I have a son, he’s a beautiful boy,” he told LeBron James. “Crazy blue eyes, baby blue eyes.”
Drake is still celebrating the Raptors NBA championship. In honor of the Toronto team’s first-ever win, he dropped his “Best in the World Pack” featuring two new tracks–“Omertà” and “Money in the Grave” featuring Rick Ross.
Another Empire star found himself in some legal trouble lately according to reports by TMZ. Bryshere Gray, who plays the youngest Lyon brother Hakeem Lyon on the television show, was arrested in Chicago this past Thursday for car-related fenses. The news outlet reported on the actor getting pulled over this past Thursday for a registration issue. The tags did not match the car he was driving and the authorities quickly discovered that his 2014 Rolls-Royce was being driven without a license or insurance. As such, the actor was arrested and booked on a misdemeanor due to driving a vehicle with unauthorized registration. He was also nabbed for not having a license nor insurance.
One the most entertaining parts the Toronto Raptors’ championship run was the antics rapper, Drake. The Canadian artist is a global ambassador to the team and was constantly trash talking opposing players from his courtside seats during the playfs. Now that the Raptors title has been secured, the team is in Toronto today for the championship parade where thousands fans have come out to support their team. All the Raptors players are on the float and to no one’s surprise, so is Drake.
Drake’s presence on the float may come as a bit an eye-roll inducer although considering just how big a star he is, it only makes sense that he would be allowed to take part in the festivities. He will probably come through with a huge speech that will unite the entire city as they celebrate their first pressional sports championship since 1993.
Hopefully, the team brought the dips out as Drake famously stated that he wants his “chips with the dip.” The rapper is one those people who would prefer a plain chip with a nice dip on the side, then a chip that is already flavored. Personally, I have to agree with Drake on that one. Flavored chips are usually packed with so many chemicals that they’re just not that good.
We can only hope that the Raptors stocked up on some lays for their big day.
