Burger King Jumps On "Stranger Things" Bandwagon With Upside Down Whopper

The anticipation for season three  Stranger Things is real. So far fans have been given a Nike collection based on the show, an ficial soundtrack and even some words from one the lead actors David Harbour who calls the new season the “most moving.” Now it looks as though fast food chain, Burger King, has joined the hype since announcing an Upside Down Whopper ahead the new season’s arrival.

The burger is course no different from the original Whopper. All that’s changed is that way the burger sits since it will be served to customers upside down. The Upside Down Whopper meal goes for $5 and comes with fries and a Coke.

In other Stranger Things news, we just posted about the new synopsis dropped f by Netflix getting us even more ready for the new season.

“It’s 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer’s heating up. School’s out, there’s a brand new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp adulthood,” the synopsis reads. “Romance blossoms and complicates the group’s dynamic, and they’ll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms. When the town’s threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they’ll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.”

Kid Cudi Joins "Bill & Ted: Face The Music" Cast

Kid Cudi, as usual, is moving pretty low-key these days. That’s not to say that he’s not active but that he’s making these moves quietly. It seems unlikely that we’ll get any new music from him this year because he seems to be focusing on other ventures. Earlier this year, it was announced that he’d be joining the cast the upcoming opioid crisis film, Dreamlandbut it looks like he’ll be getting into his comedy bag in the upcoming sequel to Bill & Ted.

Back in March, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter announced they’d be returning to their roles as Bill & Ted for Bill & Ted Face The Musicthe sequel to Bill & Ted’s Bogus Adventure. Deadline reports that Kid Cudi joined the cast for the film, although his role isn’t quite clear at this point. However, a press release did mention that he’ll have a “significant role.” The film will follow the middle-aged duo as they try to save the earth with a song.

Over the years, Kid Cudi’s expanded his acting resume exponentially. He previously appeared on HBO’s Entourage but in recent years, he’s landed roles in Andy Samberg’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until 2020 for the next Kid Cudi project. The rapper announced earlier this year that he’s not in a rush to put out any new music but he will be spending the remainder the year cooking up.

Kemba Walker Says He’d Take Less Than Supermax Money To Stay With Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets will have the upper hand when it comes to signing soon-to-be free agent point guard Kemba Walker this summer, thanks to him being voted to the All-NBA Third Team. As a result the All-NBA nod, Walker is eligible for a five-year supermax contract worth roughly $221 million if he stays in Charlotte, compared to the four-year $181 million deal that other teams can fer.

Although, it appears that Walker is willing to sign for less than the super max if it’ll help the Hornets bring in other talented players. According to Nick Carboni NBC Charlotte, Walker says, “Yeah I would take less. Sure why not. I would take less.”

Walker has said in the past that staying with the Charlotte Hornets is his first priority, and the feeling seems to be mutual. Throughout the year, Michael Jordan has reportedly turned down trade fers and expressed a strong desire to do whatever it takes to keep Kemba in town.

Even though the two sides appear committed to inking a long-term extension this summer, multiple teams around the league are still expected to pursue the three-time All Star. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks are among the teams expected to make a run at Walker when free agency ficially opens on the night June 30.

Walker, who has been with the franchise since being selected ninth overall out UConn in 2011, averaged a career-high 25.6 points per game last season to go along with 5.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds.

Klay Thompson Has Perfect Response When Asked If KD Earned ‘Splash Bro’ Status

Kevin Durant may have already played in his final game as a member the Golden State Warriors, as he now prepares for free agency this summer while recovering from an achilles surgery.

The two-time NBA Finals MVP helped the Warriors win back-to-back titles in his two years with the team, but the question remains: Has he done enough to earn “Splash Brothers” status? That’s the question one reporter lobbed up to Klay Thompson and Steph Curry during their media session on Wednesday.

“I guess he didn’t win enough Finals MVPs too,” Klay replied, shaking his head.

He continued, “I think he is above and beyond a Splash Brother with his ability. Me and Steph, we can practice as many jump shots as we want, we still can’t rise up and shoot over any man on this Earth.”

“I don’t think we need to include him in the Splash Bros. to validate his talent and his skill, because it’s pretty obvious to the human eye how great an athlete he is.”

Steph jokingly added, “Klay’s just stingy. He wants that nickname for ourselves. He’s not going to be giving that out.”

D’Angelo Russell Likes IG Post Suggesting Kyrie Irving To The Nets

Kyrie Irving parted ways with his agent yesterday and it is believed that he will be joining Jay Z‘s Roc Nation. What’s interesting about this is that Roc Nation has strong ties to Brooklyn which has many believing that Irving will end up signing with the Brooklyn Nets in free agency. The Nets have reportedly been one the teams on Kyrie’s list which just adds even more credence to the idea that he could end up playing for the team eventually.

D’Angelo Russell is another free agent this Summer and some are salivating at the idea Irving and Russell playing together in the backcourt. On Instagram recently, someone posted a photo two Nets jerseys, one with Russell’s name and the other with Irving’s. Interestingly enough, Russell himself ended up liking the post which further ignites rumors that Kyrie might be joining the team.

There have been other franchises reportedly in the running for Kyrie, including the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and potentially the Boston Celtics should he decide to come back at an increased salary.

With his move to Roc Nation in the works, it will be fascinating to see what Irving decides to do in the coming weeks. Free agency opens up on Sunday, June 30th at 6 P.M.

Disgruntled Bonnaroo Attendees Draw Dreaded "Fyre Festival" Comparisons

Organizing a successful music festival is no easy feat. Given the increased spotlight on Billy McFarland and Ja Rule’s notorious Fyre Festival, many have come to gain a better understanding what not to do. Yet we don’t tend to hear about those that operate as if well-oiled machinery. In that sense, the smooth operation our favorite festivals are taken somewhat for granted. The sheer amount potential pitfalls is staggering, and the margin for error isn’t exactly generous. Sadly, the legendary Bonnaroo festival has been dragged through the wringer by legions  disgruntled attendees, many whom waited up to eight hours in line.

Many took to Twitter to document their experience trying to enter. From the sound it, people were directed to wait alongside Hillsboro Highway, where they received little-to-no updates on the situation at large. The McFarland-esque lack organization is surprising given Bonnaroo’s reputation, and the festival did attempt to steer the course with a Twitter update. Yet it’s equally possible that many attendees, should they be in keeping with today’s Festival attendee, are sorely lacking in patience. This is, after all, an age instant gratification, and the selfies aren’t nearly as worthwhile if one is stuck in a queue.

All things considered, Bonnaroo will bounce back. Performances from Post Malone, Childish Gambino, Solange, The Lumineers, Cardi B, The National, and more are still set to transpire across the three-day extravaganza. Not to mention, the sheer level collective inebriation will help blur memories any unwieldy lines real quick. Still, we abide by a simple formula – we see Fyre Festival comparisons, we have a laugh.

Pelicans-Lakers Trade Reportedly Hinges On Kyle Kuzma

If the Los Angeles Lakers really want to pull f a trade for New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis, it looks like they’ll have to be willing to part with Kyle Kuzma. Seems like a no brainer, but the Lakers are reportedly reluctant to include the 23-year old forward.

According to The New York Times’ Marc Stein, the Lakers have made Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and the fourth overall pick in the June 20 NBA Draft available in talks with New Orleans. That said, Tania Ganguli‏ and Brad Turner  the Los Angeles Times reports the Pelicans want Kuzma to be part any Davis package.

Any potential Lakers-Pelicans deal will likely involve a third team. As Stein notes, “The Lakers’ ability to seal a deal for Anthony Davis likely hinges on what the No. 4 pick can fetch. If the No. 4 pick can land a player to excite New Orleans, on top Ingram and Ball, then the teams are headed for an agreement in principle before draft night next Thursday.”

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Boston Celtics are also involved in trade negotiations with the Pels, despite the fact that Davis’ agent, Rich Paul Klutch Sports, has confirmed that AD will leave Boston for free agency in the summer 2020.

A List of Artists Whose Masters Were Lost In the 2008 Universal Studios Fire

The ripples are just being felt from Jody Rosen’s bombshell New York Times Magazine exposé on the Universal Studios fire of 2008.

The losses felt by Universal Music Group were staggering — not to mention the broader music community.  Yet nobody knew about the horrific losses, including affected artists, their managers, or their estates.

That wasn’t by accident.

The Times’ Jody Rosen pointed to a well-coordinated effort by Universal Music Group to lie about the actual damages incurred, with former PR exec Peter Lofromento effectively tricking major media outlets into completely misreporting the situation.

“We were able to turn [L.A. Times reporter Jon] Healey around on his L.A. Times editorial so it’s not a reprimand on what we didn’t do, but more of a pat on the back for what we did,” Lofromento gloated in an internal email obtained by the Times.

Healey, none the wiser, parroted the line that the damage was minimal.  “At this point, it appears that the fire consumed no irreplaceable master recordings, just copies,” Healy reported.

Zach Horowitz, then UMG’s president/COO at the major label, was reportedly copied on the email but declined to comment.  Doug Morris, CEO of the major label at the time, also declined to discuss the issue.

Similar non-truths were spoon-fed to the New York Times itself, which also reported the misinformation back in ’08.  But even those that caught wind of the real damage were silenced.  Deadline’s Nikki Finke originally pointed to thousands of destroyed masters, only to issue a clarification the next day based on UMG’s pushback.

Beyond the media, artist representatives and industry executives were also misled.  According to Rosen, that included Irving Azoff, who inquired about a specific Steely Dan archive but was subsequently uninformed about the destruction of others.  According to UMG whistleblower Randy Aronson, the lost Steely Dan archive included outtakes and other recordings that were never released — and are lost forever.

Universal is still downplaying the incident in 2019, specifically by pointing to digitized versions and other remasters that make the original versions less important.

Of course, that sounds a lot like the damage control from 2008, and it’s now uncertain whether the major label will face serious litigation or other repercussions from affected artists and their estates.  Already, a number of artists have confirmed that their masters were lost in the blaze, including R.E.M., Questlove of the Roots, Eminem, and surviving members of Nirvana, who believe that the original copy of Nevermind was destroyed.  It’s also believed that the entirety of Buddy Holly’s catalog was permanently lost.

Also unclear is whether UMG’s broader valuation will suffer.  At present, UMG parent Vivendi is shopping a 50% stake in the major label, though most of that valuation is predicated on streaming music’s explosion and the underlying IP ownership of UMG’s catalog.  Just recently, UMG’s valuation was pegged at more than $50 billion.

It’s impossible to determine what exactly was lost in the fire, though Rosen estimated more than 500,000 different recordings were obliterated.  Here’s a list of all of the artists mentioned in the Times article that lost original masters.

Kevin Durant Posts Update On IG Following Surgery On Ruptured Achilles

Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant posted a message on instagram on Wednesday, confirming that he did, in fact, rupture his achilles tendon.

In the post, Durant explained that he underwent successful surgery today – and noted that it was his decision to play in Game 5 “because that’s what I do.”

What’s good everybody I wanted to update you all: I did rupture my Achilles. Surgery was today and it was a success, EASY MONEY

My road back starts now! I got my family and my loved ones by my side and we truly appreciate all the messages and support people have sent our way.

Like I said Monday, I’m hurting deeply, but I’m OK. Basketball is my biggest love and I wanted to be out there that night because that’s what I do. I wanted to help my teammates on our quest for the three peat.

Its just the way things go in this game and I’m proud that I gave it all I physically could, and I’m proud my brothers got the W.

It’s going to be a journey but I’m built for this. I’m a hooper

I know my brothers can get this Game 6, and I will be cheering  with dub nation while they do it.

Despite the injury, Durant is still expected to turn down the $31.5M player option with the Warriors for next season, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Earlier today, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that picking up the player option is viewed as a “last resort” for KD. Furthermore, ESPN’s Bobby Marks says multiple teams are still prepared to fer Durant a four-year max contract, assuming he does turn down the player option with Golden State, as has been reported.

Boosie Badazz Earns Response From American Airlines After Irate Rant

When Boosie Badazz, born Torrence Hatch, missed his flight this weekend, he hopped on Instagram and called out the entire airline. His rant has since gotten picked up by several news outlets and because the traction, American Airlines was forced to respond to him. Boosie believes that they didn’t let him on his flight because the colour his skin, noting that he and his kids missed a pool party because the mix-up. However, AA says that they would have restricted anybody from hopping aboard.

As reported by USA Today, American Airlines has issued an ficial statement regarding Boosie’s complaint from this weekend. The Louisiana-based rapper claims that the captain told them that they could be let on the flight but because one employee’s “jealousy” toward him, they denied him entry. AA says that’s simply not true.

“Mr. Hatch’s inbound flight from Jackson, Miss., to Charlotte, N.C., this past Saturday was delayed, and he arrived at the gate for his connecting flight to Grand Rapids, Mich., after the airplane door had been closed,” said American Airlines spokesman Ross Feinstein in a statement. “We immediate rebooked Mr. Hatch and his family for a later flight, which is our standard procedure for missed connections.”

According to the airline’s records, Boosie made his way to his connecting flight at 2:32 PM, arriving at his gate four minutes later. The plane was scheduled to leave at 2:44 PM and it’s an American Airlines policy that all passengers must arrive at their gate ten minutes ahead time. Since the door was already closed, they could not accommodate Boosie.

Do you think they did him dirty?

Chris Brown & Drake Celebrate "No Guidance" With Epic Comic Book Artwork

A pair “mortal enemies” teaming up and setting fire to the world certainly plays out like the plot a comic book. And by Drake’s own admission, that’s exactly what he and Chris Brown enacted, by teaming up to craft Indigo summer smash “No Guidance.” Though Drake‘s enemies once notably “took away his energy,” it would appear that they currently have the adverse effect, giving him the boost momentum he needed going into a music-free summer. As for Breezy, he’s looking well suited for his upcoming album launch, which promises to be his biggest release in a minute.

Today, Breezy took to Instagram to enhance the “No Guidance” experience, sharing some cool new artwork. The image depicts Drake and Brown as comic-book avatars sorts, white-eyed and flaming, mortal enemies united under a singular cause. The panel stands in keeping with Indigo’s artistic direction, hallucinogenic and somewhat anime inspired; one has to wonder if his myriad collaborators will earn the same treatment.

In any case, check out the picture below, and sound f in the comments. Are you excited for Indigo to hit stores on June 28th?

Kyrie Irving Not Opting Into Deal, Will Become Unrestricted Free Agent

It’s ficial – Kyrie Irving will become an unrestricted free agent at 6pm ET on June 30.

According to Shams Charania, the Boston Celtics’ All Star point guard will not be opting into his $21.3 million deal for next season, allowing him to sign a max contract with a team choosing. This is not an unexpected move by any means, but it is a necessary step ahead the rapidly approaching free agency period.

On a recent episode ESPN’s “First Take,” Stephen A. Smith described, “I have learned that Kyrie Irving has given every indication to the Brooklyn Nets that that is where he wants to go.” While it remains to be seen which team Irving chooses as a free agent, it has become quite clear that he has played his last game as a member the Boston Celtics.

SNY’s Ian Begley writes, “in recent days, people around Irving have described the probability him returning to Boston as a free agent as low. Those around Irving also said recently that he hasn’t ruled out teams—including the New York Knicks—as possible destinations for him this summer, per SNY sources.”

Irving, 27, averaged 23.8 points per game last season to go along with 6.9 assists and five rebounds.
