T-Pain Reveals His Brother Passed Away In February

T-Pain recently hopped on Instagram Live and inadvertently revealed his brother had died in February. He evidently felt he had to defend himself after a random person suggested his brother would still be alive if T-Pain gave the hospital more money.

Mind you, he already paid the hospital where his brother was receiving care over $2 million in medical bills. The Grammy Award-winning artist wasn’t exactly pleased by the person’s suggestion and responded accordingly.

“My brother just died February 5, bro,” he says. “And this man just told me I let my brother die because of the hospital bill after I paid $2.2. million to the hospital. And he told me if I wouldn’t have paid more money then my brother would still be alive. Money don’t fix everything. You’re putting too much power in money. Why would you think that’s possible? Nigga don’t even know how my brother died.

“I paid $2.2 million. He got out the hospital and was living his life. He had just got back to Walgreen’s, was walking on his walker at my mama’s house, he slipped up, his leg gave out and he hit his head on the fucking kitchen counter, and his brain started bleeding, and he went braindead, and then he died. How can money fix that? If money could fix that, all my family members would be alive.”

T-Pain’s brother had been sick for some time. In January, the Godfather of Auto-Tune was grateful for the medical care but clearly frustrated by his brother’s mounting bills. He shared a since-deleted Instagram post which included a screenshot of a $1.4 million hospital bill.

“I first wanna say thank you to all the ppl that were involved in keeping my brother alive,” he wrote. “I can’t express enough gratitude to the medical staff that kept my family whole. My brother was in two hospitals for a total of a month and some change. Just got the bills.”

HipHopDX sends its condolences to T-Pain and his family.

New Music: DJ Snake, Offset, 21 Savage, Sheck Wes, & Gucci Mane ‘Enzo’

Following his “Taki Taki” collaboration with Cardi B, Ozuna, and Selena Gomez, DJ Snake rounds up another star-studded cast for “Enzo,” a powerhouse anthem featuring Offset, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, and Sheck Wes.

The high-octane track, which DJ Snake teased during his Coachella set over the weekend, finds each MC delivering menacing bars over the hypnotic beat, while Sheck Wes provides the hook.

During an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, DJ Snake revealed that he started working on the song two years ago. “I was watching at the first Sheck Wes video called ‘Live Sheck Wes.’ It was maybe like 10, 20 thousand views, and I was like, ‘This kid is special.’ So we connected, and we started the song, and I started adding all the people on it. We ended up with a crazy lineup.”

A video has already been shot. “It’s going to be iconic man,” said Snake. “Iconic black-and-white cars and four superstars, four rockstars and, you know, a lot of like drip. That’s a big one. They better be on this one.”

“Enzo” is set to appear on DJ Snake’s upcoming album, due this summer. “My album looks like, I don’t know, it’s like a carnival,” he said. “It’s like different type of vibes, styles, different part of the worlds. I’m just going to tell you that it’s going to be a hot summer.”

Instagram Now Lets You Quiz Your Friends Through Stories

At first, it felt like Instagram was biting SnapChat with their Stories function. As the years passed, both mediums have remained strong but Instagram clearly has the upper hand, boasting a huge number daily users and allowing people to continually update their friends on what’s going on in their lives through visual means. The developers at their headquarters have been trying out a few things in recent months, adding new filters and functions to the in-app camera. They have also seemingly been working hard to implement a new quiz function, allowing users to ask multiple-choice questions to their followers and see how well they know them.

You may have already noticed but this week, Instagram put forth a new mode in their Stories to allow their loyal following to ask questions to their own network. In the past, you were able to poll your followers or invite them to ask questions on your Story but now, you can assign a whole damn quiz to your friends. The sticker will let you know just how well your friends have been paying attention to your ramblings by asking them multiple-choice questions, giving them a chance to answer one four possibilities.

Have you already tried out the new function? What do you think it?

“At the time, it was the most popular search query we had ever seen. But we had no surefire way getting users exactly what they wanted: JLo wearing that dress,” Google’s CEO, Eric Schmidt said in a 2015 essay. “If you looked at the search results for the query on that day, you could see that we weren’t delivering what people were asking for.”

“We realized that we needed to do better. So the day after the Grammy’s, we started work on a new type visual search engine that put images front and center; Google s,” the company stated. “In that way, Jennifer Lopez played an important role in the launch one our most popular products.”

Jennifer discussed the topic in her recent YouTube video, where she jokingly added, “I’m just wondering, where’s my check?” Google then followed up to JLo’s video post, presenting her with a mock-up a business card calling her the “Chief Inspiration Officer, Google s.”

Damian Lillard won the battle and the war against Russell Westbrook on Tuesday night and today he added the cherry on top.

Lillard posted a message on Instagram moments ago that is certainly directed at OKC’s All Star point guard. The post, which contains several images from last night’s Game 5 victory, includes the following quote from Sun Tzu’s “The Art War.”

“It is the unemotional, reserved, calm, detached warrior who wins, not the hothead seeking vengeance and not the ambitious seeker fortune.”

Lillard outplayed Westbrook throughout the brief, five game series, including last night where he went f for 50 points, seven rebounds and six assists with the series-clinching game-winner to boot.

In regards to his on-court battle with Westbrook, specifically the way Russ likes to show up his opponents, Lillard recently told Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes:

“I’m not even paying attention to it,” Lillard told Yahoo Sports. “But when I do see it, that’s cool. He does it every game, so it doesn’t bother me. I don’t celebrate in someone’s face and try to disrespect my opponent. But if a team calls a timeout, I’ll go acknowledge the crowd and celebrate with my teammates as I’m going to the bench. I’m not going to say some wild s—. I think with him, he’s pounding his chest and talking s— and that’s what gets him going. That’s the difference between us.”

Lillard and the Blazers will now take on the winner the Nuggets-Spurs series in the second-round the NBA playfs. The Nuggets lead that series 3-2 heading into Game 6 in San Antonio on Thursday.

XXXTentacion’s Mother Teases New Single With Stefflon Don & Vybz Kartel

XXXTentacion’s mother Cleopatra Bernard has been keeping her son’s legacy alive after the genre-bending rapper was killed at the young age 20-years-old last year. The Florida-based superstar was on the verge achieving big things in the music industry but unfortunately, his life ended suddenly and tragically when he was murdered outside a motorsports store. Since his passing, we’ve heard several new songs with his previously-recorded vocals including Lil Pump’s “Arms Around You,” Lil Wayne’s “Don’t Cry” and “Scared Of The Dark” from the Spider-Man soundtrack. It appears as though a new song will soon be released because Cleo has started teasing the arrival a major collaboration between X, Stefflon Don, Vybz Kartel and Ky-Mani Marley.

Damian Lillard’s Sister Storms Court After Game-Winner: "That’s My Brother"

The sports world has been consumed by the game-winning heroics Damian Lillard who helped his Portland Trail Blazers advance to the second round the playfs. Lillard hit a last-second three-point shot over the head Paul George the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was a beautiful shot that will stand the test time as one the most iconic series-winning shots all-time. Since the shot, there have been plenty memes surround Lillard who even declared that he would put the series away, earlier in the week

When Lillard hit the shot, there was a huge celebration on the court and even some the fans were involved. Those sitting courtside ended up being a part the pileup on Lillard and one those people was his sister. La’nae Lillard was sitting courtside and took a video herself celebrating after the shot went in.

“THAT’S MY BROTHER! THAT’S MY MOTHER F**KING BROTHER!” she screamed as the entire Trail Blazers bench rushed to congratulate Lillard on his huge shot.

Now that the Trail Blazers have made it to the second round, they will have to wait for the winner the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs series.

Lil Dicky Details Adventure At Leonardo DiCaprio’s Manor: "We Played Pickle Ball"

It’s been a minute since Dicky stopped by Sway In The Morning to chop it up with his old pal. Off the bat, the bromance between Sway Calloway and Lil Dicky is evident; it’s no surprise, given that LD shut it down with some bars during his last appearance. “When I look at you, I see sweetness,” introduces Sway, this time around. Lil Dicky smiles, and responds “hey, I’ll take it.” He proceeds to outline his adventure in crafting “Earth,” which found him sitting down in Leonardo DiCaprio’s manor for a meeting the minds. At this, Sway can barely control his glee.

“He fered me a seat, he fered me a drink,” details Dicky. “It was a different type water. The right kind water. We sat, and there was a beautiful view, and we talked about the Earth. He literally cares so much about it. He gets worked up just talking to me about it. Then we played ‘pickle ball.’ It’s like a mini-tennis game. He’s very competitive.” Sway proceeds to cut to the heart the matter. “Did you use the bathroom?” Lil Dicky affirms that yes, he did. “It was one those cool toilets,” he adds. “It flushed itself.”

Heather chimes in, reminding Sway that “his butt is the sensor.” When Sway is shocked that Dicky would dare drop a deuce at the DiCaprio manor, Dicky quickly realigns the narrative. “I pee sitting down,” he admits. “You didn’t know that?”

Kodak Black Cancels Canadian Tour Dates Following Border Arrest

It’s been a controversial few months for Kodak Black. He’s made some inappropriate comments towards Reginae Carter, Young M.A., and Lauren London and his sexual assault trial has been a reoccurring topic in the news cycle in recent times. He’s exhibited reckless behavior over the past few months which has drawn both concern and criticism. The rapper recently got into some trouble at the Canada-U.S. Border where he was arrested on gun and marijuana possession-related charges. Unfortunately, this may have played a factor in his recent cancellation a slew Canadian shows.

Canada won’t be getting a visit from Kodak Black on his “Dying To Live” tour. Live Nation confirmed the rapper’s shows in Montreal on Monday, in Toronto on the 23rd, and his May 7th show in Vancouver was canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

“Due to unforeseen circumstances the Kodak Black shows in Montreal (4/22), Toronto (4/23), and Vancouver (5/7) have been canceled. Ticketholders can receive refunds at point purchase,” they wrote on Facebook.

The Vancouver show was postponed from the previously scheduled March 24th date at the PNE Forum. The venue announced that the postponement was due to “scheduling conflicts.”

Y’all government don’t play the radio, just know we tried to get in there for y’all and Kodak is very upset about the outcome this situation. #DyingToLiveTour,” he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post.

Female Voices Are Dominating The Hip-Hop Landscape

Strong women have long shaped the course history. We’ve been the voices and the backbones many a movement, yet, far too ten have we gone unrecognized for fueling change. Hip-hop as a genre, and a business, which some may deem to be male-centered, has been no different. Despite creating amongst an industry that is geared towards amplifying the voices men, strong women in hip-hop have always prevailed. From OGs like Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah, to MC Lyte and Lil Kim, to Nicki Minaj, we have seen the landscape and placement  women in rap ebb and flow over the course time. Now, women who are products the 21st century are taking their own shot at the mic and shifting the current status the industry in the process.

The amount new and emerging female rappers is the highest it has ever been in the past decade. With the surge so many new women in the playing field– it’s safe to say now is a wonderful time for hip-hop. Prior to today’s climate, any conversation that surrounded women in hip-hop was dominated by the idea that there could only be one staple voice for women in hip-hop, one woman who “held the throne.”

Now, it seems that out  this dark cloud, a new narrative has arisen. From Dreezy to Kash Doll and Megan The Stallion, the sheer number new voices (and versatility) in the game make it almost impossible to put girls against one another. Rather, the female rapper the 21st century does not abide by any male created business model or any singular persona that seeks to stroke the male ego and appease the male gaze. The biggest tool in the female rapper’s arsenal is her individuality and her ability to step outside the box, musically.

Female Voices Are Dominating The Hip-Hop Landscape

Rico Nasty – Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty s

Take artists such as Rico Nasty and Bali Baby for example. These two have been at the forefront women who are creating their own unique, genre-mixing sounds. With Rico combining elements punk rock and heavy metal with rap, and Bali intertwining grudge elements into her bars, the two have created previously-uncarved lanes for themselves and, in the process, they’ve helped in shine a spotlight on new SoundCloud artists who may be experimenting with sound in a similar way. The two have been able to rack up massive success both on and f the charts, based on pure individuality and a rejection the status quo. Rico has forged her own path and lived by her own rules throughout her entire career. She is uniquely herself, in every aspect, down to her tone and sound: her raspy, gritty, hard-hitting vocals are a clear detion from the norm. She flips the music industry’s social constructs on its head and blurs the lines between gender norms. Much to the chagrin male counterparts who prefer to only see the feminine side any female, Rico welcomes androgyny in both sound and imagery. Her raw authenticity and one–a-kind Sugar Trap sound, has lead her to a spot on Forbes 30 Under 30, top charting hits, an Atlantic Record Deal, plenty magazine covers and millions devoted fans. Her 2018 release Nasty fully cemented her as an artist that can always deliver, while changing the conversation for women in rap at the same time. Chances are, she is probably on your favorite rapper favorite rapper’s moodboard, already receiving praise from hip-hop tastemakers like A$AP Rocky and Dame Dash.

Female Voices Are Dominating The Hip-Hop Landscape

Bali Baby at the HNHH fice

Bali Baby has also helped in re-mixing what it means to be a “female rapper.” The young creative’s sound has evolved since her early candy-coated mixture pop and rap on tracks like “Iggidy.” In fact, her latest album, Baylor Swift, takes a much different approach. Bali proves her versatility even more as an artist shifting her focus into rock/rap territory, while also exploring a much darker sound alongside revealing personal issues. Her recent aesthetic borders on emo/grunge rap with songs like “Stanley Steemer,” intertwining with heavily distorted reverb and hard baselines.

Elsewhere, someone like Dreezy has shaped the field representation for women in the genre. In 2012, we saw young legends such as Chief Keef arrive on the scene and swiftly change the culture music. Drill music swept America. The cultural shift brought a new class young pioneers Fredo Santana, Young Chop, Lil Durk, Lil Reese, leading up to G Herbo’s viral “Chiraq” release in 2016. For some time, young men spitting over slow-tempo drill beats was the clear face Chicago music. Dreezy came and shook up Chicago’s status quo– mixing R&B with her own unique rapping flow.

Female Voices Are Dominating The Hip-Hop Landscape

City Girls at the HNHH fice

Aside from sound, the new generation women in hip hop have become symbols feminism and sexual liberation; perhaps no surprise here. A prime example: the renowned Miami duo City Girls. City Girls bring the ball back in their own court and flipped the script on male gratification. Instead, they tell the story from the point view a woman out for pure sexual gratification and self-indulgence– a tune we haven’t heard much since Trina. One thing remains clear about their music, the girls demand respect. Their boastful tracks are not only a reminder that women can be as sexually liberated if they so choose, without the stigma shame, but also that, even so, they know their worth and keep men in check.

Today’s women in hip-hop are taking over the business playing field as well. With Kamaiyah gearing up to launch her own hair braiding company, Cuban Doll starting a charity for people with cancer, Saweetie starting her own lipstick line and Rico signing huge marketing deals– it is almost impossible to be a modern voice for women in hip-hop without having your hand in multiple business investments. Although young, the girls are priming themselves to become future moguls, creating legacies that will transcend, both inside and outside the world music.

With that future legacy always in mind, the current girls our generation are blazing trails and creating new avenues for those that will come after them. Women no longer have to match the “sound” their generation or have their voices limited to a 16 bar feature on their male counterparts track. These new paths are a testament to the fact that there is no direct formula for what it takes to be a female rapper in today’s industry.

T-Pain Claps Back At Man Who Accuses Him Of Letting His Brother Die

Back in December, T-Pain posted an image on Instagram that saw the jaw-dropping bill he had to pay for his brother in the hospital. It was unknown just what his bother was in the hospital for, but the $1.4 million bill assured his fans it was something serious. It’s with sadness that we report that T-pain’s brother passed away in February and the now the “Bartender” music maker has gone f on someone who had the audacity to say it was T-pain’s fault.

“My brother just died February 5th, and this man just told me I let my brother die because the hospital bills, after I paid $2.2 million to the hospital, and he told me if I had paid more money then my brother would still be alive,” T-Pain said in a video. “Money don’t fix everything bro, you’re putting too much power into money why would you think that’s possible?”

In total, T-Pain put down $2 million for his brother’s hospital stay where he then relocated him at home. His leg gave out at one point, resulting in a fall, that then resulted in a brain injury and his untimely death.

“How could money fix that?’ T-Pain asked. “If money could fix it like that then all my family would be alive, If I could just throw money at a health issue and everyone would be fixed, then everyone’s alive, we living forever.”
