Although Kanye has demanded that the lawsuit gets thrown out, it appears as though he’ll also have to take the L on this one. The judge revealed that the trial will begin on May 11, 2020 and last four to five days.
Aside from the case, Kanye recently confirmed that he has a new album on the way. It appears that Jesus Is King could be a project that was created while the Chicago artist hosted his weekly spiritual Sunday Services events across America.
Burna Boy, the Nigerian singer who rose to fame in 2012 following the release his single “Like to Party” and more recently holding down his title with recent features with Jorja Smith, Beyonce, YG, Jeremih and more. So when someone such as Rihanna asks a member her entourage to play one Burna Boy’s biggest tunes “Ye,” and they can’t deliver, naturally, she’s going to have an issue.

Such is the case in a recent video that sees Riri on Instagram Live trying to get her security guard to play a track by Burna Boy but he seemingly doesn’t know which song Rihanna is referring to. The “Stay” singer gets frustrated when a Fetty Wap song comes on asking if her security guard just went digging in a 2017 playlist.
“When you going to play that Burna Boy? You must to play a Burna Boy … it’s called Ye, Y-E hurry up now, thank God you are security and not a D.J,” she said.
When the tune finally comes on, Rihanna goes f and is nothing but excited. We can only hope Rihanna’s love for Burna Boy means the duo will have a collab on her upcoming tape.

With everything going on in the media these days, it seems like a great time to bring back The Boondocks. That’s exactly what’s happening right now. According to Deadline, HBO Max has ordered two seasons The Boondocks for 2020. The new season from Aaron McGruder and Sony Pictures Animation will debut in fall next year with a 50-minute special. The previous seasons will also be available on HBO Max upon the new season’s debut.

“There’s a unique opportunity to revisit the world The Boondocks and do it over again for today,” McGruder said about the relaunch the series. “It’s crazy how different the times we live in are now – both politically and culturally – more than a decade past the original series and two decades past the original newspaper comic. There’s a lot to say and it should be fun.”
The story will continue to follow Robert Freeman, and his two grandsons, Huey and Riley Freeman but in the revamp, Uncle Ruckus will be the “tyrannical leader” a suburban community in Maryland.
“The Boondocks was a revolutionary series that sparked conversations on hot button issues and brought dark subjects into the light with episodes like ‘The Trial Robert Kelly’, ‘The Fundraiser’ and ‘The Story Gangstalicious’,” CCO Of HBO Max, Kevin Reilly, said in a statement. “Aaron is a gifted visionary whose unique style storytelling is a welcome voice and we are elated The Freemans are making their thugnificent comeback on HBO Max.”
With the 2020 elections and R. Kelly‘s upcoming trial, along with 6ix9ine’s case and more, there is plenty content to cover the 24 episode order.
Aaron McGruder took to Instagram to share a glimpse the new characters. Check it out below.
While one student was charged over Tyler, the Creator lyrics, another student in Illinois is being suspended over singing rap lyrics. According to local ABC affiliate in Illinois, the father a freshman at Washington Community High School claims that his son was suspended over singing the opening lyrics to Future‘s “Draco.” But instead saying Draco, he mistakenly said AK, prompting another student to report him.
“He was leaving class headed to the bus,” Brandon Porter said. “He was singing the song and she felt threatened by the song apparently, but she kept walking towards the bus or what not.”
After singing the lyrics, which go “Draco, sittin’ in my bookbag,” a female student felt threatened and told the school ficials. The police and the school called the kid’s mom and the two both returned to the school where authorities were waiting. Police did an investigation but didn’t file any charges after their discoveries. From there, the school suspended the kid for six days and banned him from school functions for the remainder his years but Porter said that his son didn’t mean any harm.
“At this point, its her word over his, since when is her word more credible than his, he didn’t threaten her. What witness does she have? It’s not fair. It’s not fair to us. It’s not fair to him,” Porter said.
The Boondocks has found a new home for its highly-anticipated return. HBO Max has announced the show’s revival will launch on the streaming service in fall 2020.
WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming platform has ordered two seasons of the acclaimed series for a total of 24 new episodes. All 55 episodes from the show’s original television run on Adult Swim will also be available on HBO Max, which is scheduled to launch in spring 2020.
“The Boondocks was a revolutionary series that sparked conversations on hot button issues and brought dark subjects into the light with episodes like ‘The Trial of Robert Kelly’, ‘The Fundraiser’ and ‘The Story of Gangstalicious,’” HBO Max’s chief content officer Kevin Reilly said in a press release. “Aaron [McGruder] is a gifted visionary whose unique style of storytelling is a welcome voice and we are elated The Freemans are making their thugnificent comeback on HBO Max.”
The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder is back for the series revival after not being involved in the show’s fourth season, which aired in 2014. He will serve as the showrunner and one of the executive producers.
“There’s a unique opportunity to revisit the world of The Boondocks and do it over again for today,” McGruder said in a press statement. “It’s crazy how different the times we live in are now – both politically and culturally – more than a decade past the original series and two decades past the original newspaper comic. There’s a lot to say and it should be fun.”
The first four seasons of The Boondocks are currently available to stream on Hulu. Fans can also hear Gary Anthony Williams reprise his Uncle Ruckus character on The Breakfast Club below.
Sofar Sounds has announced it will begin hiring paid part-time crew members to work its concerts.
The organization has been under fire from artists and critics who say it relies on its volunteer workforce. CEO Jim Lucchese made the announcement, saying the paid members will augment its volunteer workforce.
The New York State Department of Labor is currently investigating Sofar Sounds for its use of unpaid labor. For-profit companies cannot use unpaid volunteers, except in one-off events. But Sofar Sounds specializes in offering one-off events.
A report called the Talkhouse report by musician John Colpitts revealed how Sofar Sounds works. The piece describes how everyone who works for the company loves it, but musicians and DIY organizers have a less than stellar opinion.
Sofar Sounds recently received $25 million in from Union Square Ventures and Virgin Group. The company was set up as an alternative to noisy pub settings. The idea is to to provide intimate concerts in people’s home and small gatherings. Attendees are asked to focus on the performance of a virtually unknown artist.
The service is appealing to music fans because the artist line-up isn’t revealed ahead of time.
Fans in the US, UK, Canada, and Spain can purchase tickets in select cities for around $10-$25. A day or two before the concert, the address for the event is revealed. According to the Talkhouse report, the average paid ticket count is 58 and the average price is $19.
“Artists are paid $100 per concert and are sometimes offered the option of a professionally produced Sofar branded video as a substitute for cash.”
That doesn’t add up. said they were told around 100 capacity with ticket prices around $12.66 per ticket. CEO Jimn Lucchese has defended the practice, saying “$100 for a showcase slot is definitely fair.”
Now Lucchese says the paid Sofar Crew is “a way to make sure that as Sofar continues to grow, we can support that growth.” Paid staffers won’t replace the Sofar volunteer ambassadors that the service relies on. Instead, they’ll be manning the merch tables and driving social media sign-ups.
The KAABOO festival brand has been acquired by Virgin Fest. Jason Felts will lead the festival next year.
Virgin Fest is the music festival arm of Richard Branson’s multi-national conglomerate, Virgin Group Ltd. Virgin Fest founder and CEO Jason Felts will oversee the launch of the festival in Los Angeles next year. He’ll also oversee KAABOO, which will move to Petco Park in San Diego.
launched five years ago at the in California. Bryan Gordon and Seth Wolkov of Madison Companies helped turn the festival into one with international acclaim.
The sale is a 100% asset sale and will continue to target KAABOO’s millennial demographic. The planned will target the early 20s demographic. With KAABOO under new ownership, fans can expect to see plenty of new entertainment. The press release made a point to emphasize that the branding won’t be changing, either.
“The KAABOO brand and signature, multi-sensory experience around live Music, Comedy, Art, and Culinary will remain and will not be rebranded. Under new ownership, fans can expect to continue to enjoy a hospitality-driven experience that engages all five senses.”
The acquisition was brokered and negotiated on behalf of Virgin Fest by a team at Latham & Watkins led by Ken Deutsch.
Since its flagship property in Del Mar, KAABOO has expanded to the Cayman Islands. In a partnership with the Dallas Cowboys, the festival headed to Dallas for KAABOO Texas. It’s likely Virgin has more international aspirations for the festival as part of its music festival arm.
This year’s concert was headlined by the Dave Matthews Band and Mumford and Sons. That’s the third year in a row the event has sold out well before it takes place. Fans interested in attending KAABOO San Diego at Petco Park can now buy passes for the event.
New York, NY – Day three of the Tekashi 6ix9ine trial went down on Wednesday (September 18). Once again, the polarizing rapper took the stand in the government’s case against alleged Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods members Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack.
During his testimony, 6ix9ine was asked about two 2018 shootings, including the incident at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the brawl at a New York City restaurant.
According to Inner City Press, 6ix9ine explained he was harassed by two men at the restaurant. Ex-manager Kifano “Shotti” Jordan stepped in and pistol-whipped the men as they got into their vehicle. He said Jordan then fired several shots at the vehicle as the men drove away — but he missed.
Two guys are harassing me. Jorge is driving my Suburban. They pull up parallel, recording, mocking me. So Shotti pulls out a gun, opens their door and pistol whips them. We're telling Shotti to chill, it's a main street, Graham Avenue…
The guys says, Come to Gates and Garvey. We drive away. There's a garbage truck. We get caught behind it. Shotti cocks the gun. Quote: "These Ns think I'm playin?" He runs toward the car. It goes into reverse. Shotti gets on 1 knee and starts firing off
In the Barclays Center incident, 6ix9ine said he and his entourage were at the venue to watch the Adrien Broner fight.
Q: Mr Hernandez, what happened after that shooting? A: We went back to Kingston. Then later that night I had a performance at the Barclays Center, the Main Event fight. Adrien Broner against some other guy, I don't remember his name
6ix9ine said he and his entourage ran into several members of Casanova’s crew inside a tunnel under the arena and a brawl quickly erupted.
“We’re in a tunnel,” he said. “The doors open and 30 of Casanova’s people come rushing at us, 6 or 7 of us. They were trying to get to me but I made my way to the back.”
Now it turns to the Barclays Center. #6ix9ine "We're in a tunnel. The doors open and 30 of Casanova's people come rushing at us, 6 or 7 of us. They were trying to get to me but I made my way to the back." Shotti told Fuquan Lovick to pull out the gun and shoot it
6ix9ine said that’s when Jordan told a fellow Nine Trey gang member to open fire.
Elsewhere in his testimony, 6ix9ine explained where his relationship with Nine Trey went south. He said it started in March 2018 when he’d booked a show in Austin, but didn’t “check in” with Rap-A-Lot Records’ personnel who consider Texas their “turf.”
Under oath, 6ix9ine said the Rap-A-Lot head honchos refused to let him enter his gig. Consequently, he couldn’t perform and lost somewhere between $10,000 and $15,000. He claims the lost money caused “tension” between Jordan and Ellison, his bodyguard at the time.
He said Ellison called Jordan a “pussy” for not standing up to Rap-A-Lot. Ellison was soon fired.
The following month (April 2018), J. Prince was in New York City and 6ix9ine said the Nine Trey gang members planned to get revenge. 6ix9ine said Jordan and his affiliates ultimately decided to pull an armed robbery on the Rap-A-Lot reps while he waited in the car.
6ix9ine and Jordan were arrested last November on racketeering charges. Jordan received 15 years in prison for his crimes earlier this month, while 6ix9ine is currently the government’s star witness in the case.
The trial is expected to go on for roughly two weeks.
Hollywood, CA – Jeezy took a look back at this storied career during a recent stop by the HipHopDX offices in Hollywood. As part of his conversation with DX, the trap rap pioneer recalled using $1.8 million in real cash for his Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 album cover and explained why his stint in the group Boy N Da Hood was so brief.
“When we did the deal that was the negotiation — I told [JAY-Z] and L.A. Reid I’m gonna do this deal with Puff [Daddy], but I’m only gonna make it a one-off,” he said of Boyz N Da Hood. “So, I was only in the group for one album.”
The veteran artist also opened up about his dealings with JAY-Z, the star-studded “I Do” remix and how one of his songs turned into Kanye West’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” He additionally detailed Gary Vee’s appearance on the TM104 intro “The enTRAPreneur” and shared insight on the ways he continues to motivate himself.
The legacy Guru and Gang Starr live on forever. Although it’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from Gang Starr, DJ Premier has said that there’s posthumous music in the cut. We’ve yet to hear any it but it appears as though we will soon. Earlier today, DJ Premier took to Instagram to tease a brand new album from Gang Starr. With the help Nas, he announced that a new album was on the way.
Premier posted a video on his Instagram page which shows a landline telephone and captioned, “I Gotta Call @nas.” Although no one is seen, Nas voice is heard through the phone. “Yo Premier, what up man, it’s your man Nas,” he said. “Is it true there’s a new Gang Starr album? That’s crazy, man. Let me know. Aight, chill.”
Premier was hinting at the release a new project earlier this week. The famed DJ shared a tweet that read, “I wonder what people would say if I released a new…”
Nas involvement in this project — if any — hasn’t been announced but we’d definitely be excited to hear the Queensbridge rapper on the album. I mean, he runs a label called Mass Appeal and Gang Starr’s biggest song shares the same name so it would only make sense.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for any more updates on DJ Premier’s upcoming Gang Starr album.
