A$AP Rocky Reportedly Refused to Thank Trump

The White House is reportedly upset that A$AP Rocky didn’t issue a public “thank you” to President Trump over his attempts to pressure the Swedish government to release the rapper from jail.

According to a new report from Yahoo! News, Trump’s team got involved in trying to secure Rocky’s freedom under the condition that they would receive a public thank you.

“The White House didn’t ask for anything. There were no conditions attached, but my condition and Kareem [Lanier]’s condition was that all I’m asking for you guys to do is say thank you,” said Darrell Scott, an Ohio pastor and Trump surrogate, who helped to advocate for the rapper’s release.

According to Scott, Rocky’s manager John Ehmann consented. “If a serial killer gets Rocky out of jail, I would have no problem saying thank you to the serial killer,” Ehmann allegedly said.

Despite Trump’s attempt, a Swedish court convicted Rocky of assault, sentencing him to the time he already served and two years of probation. Rocky previously spent a month in Swedish jail.

After his release, the White House was expecting a public acknowledgment that Trump had helped with his case, hoping that his plea for the rapper would help his image with black voters. Rocky thanked his supporters on Instagram, but made no mention of Trump.

When Trump’s team spoke with Ehmann, he reportedly started making excuses about Rocky needing time to travel and rest. Within two days after he was freed, his team stopped responding to text messages from Trump’s people.

Scott told Ehmann, “I hope you guys aren’t going back on what you said you were going to do.”

Rocky apparently wouldn’t even thank the White House behind the scenes. “All he had to do was do a two-minute call to say thank you,” said Scott. “Rocky hasn’t even called us and said, ‘Hey, man, thank you guys. I appreciate it,’ in private. Just in private.”

Lanier, co-chairman of the Urban Revitalization Coalition, attributed this to the potential backlash that Rocky could face for embracing the President. “One of the problems that we have as a culture — and I’m talking about black Americans — is herd mentality,” said Lanier. “Right now it’s popular for those guys to bash President Trump.”

Lil Uzi Vert Offers to Pay Student’s $90,000 Tuition

Lil Uzi Vert is giving back in a big way.

The Grammy-nominated rapper agreed to pay a Temple University student’s $90,000 tuition, and it was all captured on video. While walking through a department store in Philadelphia on Thursday night, Uzi ran into a fan named Raheel Ahmad, who asked if he would give him $90,000 for his college tuition.

“Can you pay for my college tuition?” asked Ahmad before Uzi stopped in his tracks to ask him how much. “Ninety grand, I go to Temple, bro,” replied Ahmad.

“Ninety grand? I could pay for that,” said Uzi before revealing the terms of his donation, including that the student finish school. “But this is the thing, though. If I pay for your college tuition, are you going to finish college or are you going to bullshit?”

After Ahmad vowed to keep his end of the deal, Uzi then asked for his Instagram handle and told him to send all his transcripts. “If you don’t show me, you won’t get 90 grand,” he said.

On Friday, the generous rapper also teamed up with Yo Gotti on their new collaboration “Pose.”

Hasbro Toys Now Owns Death Row Records

Death Row Records has reportedly been acquired by the Hasbro toy company, the same entity responsible for several classic toys such as Mr. Potato Head, My Little Pony and G.I. Joe.

According to Rolling Stone, Hasbro announced on Thursday (August 22) they had purchased Entertainment One, a multimedia company that owns the children’s franchises Peppa Pig and PJ Masks.

eOne also has a music division, which just happens to be one of the largest independent labels in the industry. During this year’s first quarter, the company took in $30 million worth of revenue.

“Hasbro will leverage eOne’s immersive entertainment capabilities to bring our portfolio of brands that have appeal to gamers, fans and families to all screens globally and realize full franchise economics across our blueprint strategy for shareholders,” CEO Brian Goldner told Deadline. “We are excited to welcome eOne’s talented employees from around the world into the Hasbro family.”

eOne has owned Death Row’s catalog for several years. The company spent roughly $280 million to buy it in 2013, seven years after the legendary Hip Hop label was forced to declare bankruptcy.

99% of Americans Don't Care About the Headphone Jack

A survey of over 3,000 smartphone owners found most Americans don’t care about the headphone jack.

Ting — a mobile virtual network operator (MNVO) — conducted the survey.  Only 1% of those who responded said the headphone jack is a top-three feature for them. The question was asked to over 3,640 respondents.

The survey asked participants to rank the three most important features they consider when choosing a new phone. Respondents could pick from a pre-selected list of options like price, camera, battery, storage space, specs, operating system, headphone jack, and cool factor.

Only 1% of respondents picked headphone jack as one of the three most important factors.

So what did smartphone buyers rate as the most important factor when choosing a new phone? Unsurprisingly, 35% of respondents said the price was the main factor.  30% of respondents picked operating system as an important factor.  The third-most picked option was specs at just 14% of the votes.

Despite a lot of hand-wringing and noise, it seems as though smartphone buyers in the U.S. are doing just fine without the headphone jack.  Most smartphone manufacturers are , anyway.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 launched last week , spelling death for the rest of the Android world. Samsung was the last major manufacturer hold out for the technology. Now that phones cost over $1,000, it’s much easier to get someone to .

Even though Bluetooth audio is objectively worse than good old analog wires, most consumers don’t care.  Heck, even the cool factor option scored 2%, which means more people care about having a cool phone over a conventional jack.

One interesting point from the survey is that most people keep their old devices. 46% recycled them to children, while 28% said they use their old phone . You know, the old phone with a headphone jack for easy listening. Funny world we live in, isn’t it?

Oregon Police Digitally Edit Mugshot To Match Witnesses Description Of Bank Robber

Police in Oregon were confident they had their man in Tyrone Lamont Allen. They received a tip that he was the man responsible for a string bank and credit union robberies; however, they faced one glaring issue. Allen is loaded in face tattoos, but none the witnesses claim the assailant had any facial tattoos to speak .

So what did police do? As reported by The Washington Post, rather than let Allen walk free, they decided to digitally photoshop the tattoos f their suspects face and show his mugshot to witnesses. Police did not inform witnesses that the mugshot had been photoshopped to match their description. Two tellers then picked Allen out a lineup five other men’s mugshots, identifying him as the robber.

On the surface, this seems like a case blatant tampering with evidence, but ultimately, that decision will come down to a federal judge in Oregon. Allen’s attorney, Mark Ahlemeyer, believes allowing this type police behavior is a slippery slope injustice. “There would presumably be nothing wrong with adjusting various pixels to make someone’s face appear slimmer, so long as the government’s theory was that the suspect had gained weight since the crime,” the attorney wrote in a recent motion.

Perhaps most concerning about this story, is what the ficer who altered the image said in his testimony, “There are times it has been appropriate to make those small subtle changes. The main purpose is not to make the suspect stand out.’’ This is a clear allusion to having used the tactic in the past, and apparently, including this methodology in a report isn’t a requirement.

Justin Gaethje Wants To "F-ck Up" Conor McGregor After Watching Video Of Bar Attack

Justin Gaethje has been lusting over a potential bout with Conor McGregor for some time. Few took the Irishman at his word when he threatened retirement in late March last year. McGregor has been fervently active on social media, with fighter’s FOMO, every time a catalyst passes him up the UFC charts.

It was also apparent that McGregor wasn’t actually interested in leaving the sport, but entering a labor dispute with his employers at the UFC, whom he believes, owe him an ownership stake for his contributions to the brand – none which is any concern to Justin Gaethje, the UFC’s #5 ranked Lightweight, as this writing.

“Of course I want to f**k him up. I see him punch an old man, do I want to punch him for that? F**k yeah, I want to f**k that dude up for s**t like that,” Gaethje said McGregor and his latest transgression, a PR-nightmare a bar fight in Ireland. “He looks like a crackhead on your video.”

Gaethje reiterated his desire to fight McGregor while partaking in an episode TMZ Sports on FS1. Although his mid-term projections are now fully-evident, if Gaethje doesn’t get past a tough Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 158, he will likely miss out on the McGregor sweepstakes, as the Irishman looks set to fight on the biggest spotlight possible, commensurate with his selling power within the sport.

“Hey I got f**king business in front me, I got ‘Cowboy.’ And then I’m your huckleberry,” Gaethje says … “I’m right here, this s**t has to go forward, has to move on. He’s either in or out.”

50 Cent Expresses Amazement At Busta Rhymes’ Fitness Results Once Again

As you may remember, last year, 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes got in a bit a spat. It all started with 50 clowning Busta for having the “strongest neck in hip hop“. Despite this being a relatively innocuous comment and 50 Cent being the biggest instigator in hip hop, Busta did not take 50’s odd compliment lightly. This led to a series childish back-and-forth jabs, with the latest development being 50 genuinely commending Busta on his progress in the gym back in April. But course, when it comes to 50 – who can be as petty as a cartoon villain – it’s hard to tell whether he’s praising someone or taking a subtle shot.

For this reason, 50’s latest Instagram post about Busta’s physique has us on our toes. In regards to a photo an incredibly hefty-looking Bus-a-Bus, 50 wrote, “Damn it man, Busta arms the size my leg. LOL WHAT TF is going on BUS”. While this can be interpreted as amazement at his strength, the “LOL” and laughing emojis might stir this semi-friendly feud in the wrong direction. Busta probably won’t be too happy when he finds himself as the butt 50’s joke once again. Considering Busta’s ever-increasing size, 50 still making these comments shows that he is truly afraid nothing and everyone is merely a pawn to be used for his own amusement.

Kim Kardashian Has Six Toes In Latest Photoshop Fail

Every Kardashian is far too familiar with the accusations Photoshop and their failed edits on Facetune or any other app that lets them touch up their body before posting to Instagram. While neither Kim, Khloe, Kourtney or Kylie and Kendall have ever responded to the public on any given photo, the latest fail had by Kim proves that sometimes saying nothing at all is the best way to go.

The mother four uploaded an image to her feed that sees her and her sister Kylie Jenner posing in bodysuits to promote their fragrance collaboration. “She’s been wearing my perfumes forever so this collab is extra special because I know how much she loves the process. Finding her perfect scent was impossible so we narrowed it down to her three favorites!” Kim wrote.

While KKW Body fans are surely excited, a large number Kim’s followers couldn’t help but hilariously call her out for her sixth toe that’s very obvious in the image. “That sixth toe is iconic, Perez Hilton commented, while another user added: “Am I tripping or does Kim have 6 toes? Someone explain, I’m so confused! I counted so many times.”

Safe to say Kim won’t respond to the comments at all.

A$AP Ferg & Chance The Rapper Freestyle Over Classics By OutKast & Jay-Z: Watch

Having both completed full-length projects in recent weeks, A$AP Ferg and Chance The Rapper were in rare form when the opportunity arose for them to flex their chops on Sway in the Morning. As the narrative went, Ferg was in the studio recording with Sway when Chance The Rapper and his entourage entered the establishment for reasons unknown.

Right away, Ferg had the bright idea putting Chance to work, in a two-person freestyle session with an episodic storytelling arc. “We got the richest n—as in Chicago in here right now,” Ferg said upon seeing Chance in the building. He then suggested they do the aforementioned freestyle, to which Chance The Rapper responded. “I’m so ready for that, let’s do it.”

Chance and Ferg’s interplay went as well as one would expect, with the Harlemite repping everything from his father D-Ferg to veteran battle rapper Murda Mook, himself a product Harlem, NY.

“That was before you was listening to gospel music,” Ferg rapped, hoping to incite his partner into a lyrical rapture . “And that was when you used to be rockin’ to it, on the tour bus.”
“I’m married now/Don’t get carried now, don’t get carried away,” Chance interjected in full-swing. “I got the ring, shout out to my bae.”

Check out both freestyle rounds in the above video, as well as Ferg’s dolo interview with Sway – before Chance The Rapper entered the frame. Listen to Floor Seats here.

Despite Getting Broiled, Scooter Braun Offers High Praise For Taylor Swift

Despite the bad blood between Scooter Braun and Taylor Swift — or perhaps because of it — Braun congratulated the singer on her latest album.

Braun made headlines after purchasing Big Machine Label Group, which stores the ultra-valuable recording catalog of Taylor Swift.   The deal was rumored to be worth $300 million and was orchestrated through Braun’s company, Ithaca Holdings, a move that enraged Swift.

In the moments after the deal, we quickly learned that Taylor Swift absolutely hates Scooter Braun.  Suddenly, Braun became Swift’s next ex-boyfriend, or some variation thereof, always an unenble role.

Swift took to Tumblr back in July to air her grievances about the deal, lamenting about the raw deal that took place.  “Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it,” she wrote.

Now, Braun is taking the high road by praising Swift’s recent album campaign on Twitter.

Regardless of what has been said the truth is you don’t make big bets unless you are a believer and always have been. Brilliant album with #Lover,” he wrote. “Congrats @taylorswift13. Supporting was always the healthier option.”

Despite Getting Broiled, Scooter Braun Offers High Praise For Taylor Swift

Lover is Swift’s seventh studio album and one that she owns exclusively. Now, Swift has confirmed her plans to re-record and re-release all of her earlier albums to regain her IP.

At first, a move to re-record seemed out of the realm of possibility.  But apparently Swift’s contract states that from November 2020 she can start .  Accordingly, Swift will re-record her first five albums to help take some of the wind out of .

Swift has been extremely vocal about the treatment she received from Big Machine founder and Braun. Now, the re-recording option offers a nice, high-profile game of payback, with Braun himself standing to lose hundreds of millions in long-term equity as Swift dilutes her catalog with duplicates.

The specter of earlier and later versions sitting side-by-side on platforms like Spotify — with Swift urging her fans to listen to the latter — is a nightmare scenario for Braun and his investors. Whether litigation is the next step is uncertain, though Braun and Ithaca may also attempt to cancel the deal with Big Machine given the prospect of extreme asset devaluation.

Swift is one of the best-selling artists of all time.

During her career, she has sold over 150 million singles and 50 million albums. She has 10 Grammy Awards under her belt, with countless other accolades. Time Magazine has named her one of the most influential people of the year on multiple occasions.

Most recently, Swift has advocated for and has begun voicing her political opinions after years of shying away from it.  Any way you look at it, Swift wields a lot of power — including the power to drastically complicate life for Scooter Braun.

Apple Music Tries to Kill Stale Playlists With 'New Music Daily'

Apple Music has launched a new human-curated playlist that updates on the daily.

The new playlist is called New Music Daily, and it aims to provide a look at the newest tracks in music. The debut lead single for the playlist is Taylor Swift’s “The Man,” from her brand-new album, Lover.

Apple will likely use the new playlist as a way to promote lead artists on a rolling basis.

The long-time playlist Best of the Week will cease to be now that New Music Daily is here. The old playlist was updated once a week on Friday. The new list will be updated daily with “new music you can’t miss from across the world and genres.”

The result is a more dynamic mix of tunes that will refresh daily. You can add the playlist to your library for automatic updates as the list changes. Apple Music currently offers a 3-month free trial if you don’t use the service, with Spotify recently matching the generous 90-day term.

But Apple is still far behind Spotify in terms of subscribers, and playlists offer one way to catch up. New Apple Music playlists like Rap Life and ALT CTRL have launched to compete with Spotify’s branded playlists. A big part of Spotify’s success can be attributed to the popularity of its playlists .
But playlists are only one theater in this war. The two streaming giants have duked it out in the past with and . Both services offer a bevy of exclusive music content and podcasts to entice users, though major labels like UMG have put the kibosh on restrictive exclusives.

Apple recently debuted a that features the most searched for songs using the Shazam service. Count that as another unique playlist that sets Apple Music apart from other services.

Despite a proliferation of smart tastemaking algorithms, many listeners prefer the human-curated touch of a playlist, which is supposed to be an intensely personal thing. Even Apple has taken shots at Spotify for its algorithm-driven playlist selection, though it .

Kid Buu Allegedly Robbed, Thieves Flex His Jewelry On Social Media

The streets Toronto haven’t been kind to Kid Buu. Recently, there were rumors floating about that the 30-year-old rapper got himself caught up in some trouble after he was robbed during a visit to the Canadian city. DJ Akademiks and No Jumper‘s Adam22 shared video clips and images a masked person flaunting Kid Buu’s jewelry, suggesting that the rapper had been robbed. The alleged thief wears one chain while displaying another along with an iced out watch.

“Goons in Toronto claimed they robbed #kidbuu…most likely a stunt but idk,” Akademiks wrote in the caption to the video. A Canadian outlet named 6ixBuzz TV also shared the news Kid Buu’s alleged robbery and commented on Akademik’s post, “Nah its facts crodie. @kidbuu can’t be acting up in the city 😤💯.”

Meanwhile, a Twitter user shared what may have gone down before the supposed altercation occurred. “KidBuu posted a video him in Toronto saying ‘n*ggas scared to come outside’ and then got immediately robbed for his chain and watch, made his Instagram private LOL 😂😂😂😂😂.” Others are claiming that the entire episode is for clout and nothing even took place. Who knows. Check it out and judge for yourself, and make sure watch Kid Buu kicking it with us for our Snack Review series below.

Johnny Depp’s Alleged Assault Victim From Tupac & Biggie Film Suing For $70K

Someone else besides Johnny Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard is looking to take the acclaimed actor to court. Back in 2018, Depp starred in the film City Lies alongside Forest Whitaker. In the film, Depp portrayed real-life Los Angeles Police Department detective Russell Poole who investigated the murders Tupac Shakur and Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace.

One month before the film was to hit theaters, it was pulled and shelved. While there hasn’t been any further announcement regarding a worldwide release date (although it has been leaked), it hasn’t kept the movie from making headlines. Earlier this year, a crew member from the film named Gregg “Rocky” Brooks filed a lawsuit against Depp claiming that the actor punched him twice in the ribs when Brooks attempted to impose the restrictions certain permits.

According to The Blast, new documents state that Brooks is asking for $70K from Depp, but Depp isn’t having it. The actor reportedly counters that the assault never even happened and Brooks didn’t ask for medical expenses. Brooks is seeking damages for lost wages which is how he came up with his number.

Depp also wants the case to be moved to a lower court, something Brooks is adamantly against because the most the alleged victim would be able to take home would be $25K.

Juice WRLD Fans Express Disappointment After He Doesn’t Show Up To Festival

It was almost a year ago when the Reading & Leeds Festival announced their 2019 line up. The two-day event planned to host artist like Post Malone, Billie Eilish, Stefflon Don, Foo Fighters, DaBaby, Yungblud, and Chicago’s very own Juice WRLD. United Kingdom fans couldn’t wait to purchase their tickets and see their favorite artists take to the stages, however, the hoards people waiting on Juice WRLD were left with disappointment.

According to NME, the 20-year-old artist was all set to begin his performance at 4:10 p.m. There was a DJ hyping up the massive crowd that was gathering together awaiting Juice WRLD to take to the stage, however, just five minutes later host Huw Stephens instead grabbed the mic and delivered a message. “We have an important announcement to make and we’re afraid it’s bad news,” he said. “Juice WRLD will not be able to perform today due to a flight issue.”

Before leaving the area, fans reportedly let their frustrations be known by booing the stage and storming social media with criticisms. Fans also shared that Lil Uzi Vert was supposed to perform as well, but he, also, backed out at the last minute. However, his name isn’t listed on the festival’s website.
