Just in case you thought 2019 couldn’t get any weirder, the toy company Hasbro, who’s responsible for classic toys such as Mr. Potato Head, Monopoly, and more, is now the owners the Death Row catalog. Yes, you read that correctly. The toy company now owns the catalog that consists records from Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Tupac, and many others — records that have sold millions upon millions. It’s strange to think about Hasbro, which is synonymous with childhood innocence, now is in possession one the most gangster labels in the history music.
Now, you might be wondering how this all happened. Per Rolling Stone, Hasbro purchased Entertainment One for $4B. Entertainment One is a general multimedia company that owns some the biggest franchises among children such as Peppa Pig and PJ Masks. However, Entertainment One is also a prominent hip-hop label that’s worked with just about everyone in the industry. A few years ago, in 2013, the music label itself dropped $280M to acquire the Death Row catalog after the label itself went bankrupt in 2006.
Interestingly enough, it seems like the Hasbro CEO isn’t entirely aware everything that he acquired with the $4B purchase Entertainment One. “The acquisition eOne adds beloved story-led global family brands that deliver strong operating returns to Hasbro’s portfolio and provides a pipeline new brand creation driven by family-oriented storytelling,” he said.
We wouldn’t necessarily describe Suge Knight as family-oriented, but maybe that’s just us.
Most recently DJ Muggs dropped his Soul Assassins: DIA DEL ASESINATO project featuring guest appearances from Freddie Gibbs, MF Doom, Raekwon, Kool G Rap and more.
For the single and video for “Balance,” DJ Muggs recruits Action Bronson associate Meyhem Lauren. The two already collaborated on this year’s Member’s Only project. Fans in LA can also catch Mayhem September 11 at Cafe Fais Do-Do with ETO.
Los Angeles, CA – Atlantic Records gave a generous gift to the Neighborhood Nip Foundation reportedly in the sum of over six figures. The exact amount of the donation was not disclosed though payment was confirmed through Nipsey Hussle’s business partner and friend, Karen Civil to HipHopDX.
They continued, “Over the past seven years, he has built an incredible brand that reflects his independent, non-traditional approach to what it means to be a creative artist in the modern music marketplace. We are thrilled and honored that he has chosen Atlantic as his label home.”
Since the Los Angeles prodigy was murdered in front of his Marathon Clothing Store in March, many fans have paid homage through supporting his clothing business.
The enterprise has amassed over $10 million from then. The physical location is temporarily closed while a Nipsey Hussle Tower is being constructed.
Fresh off “Put A Date On It” going platinum, Yo Gotti returns with another high caliber single featuring Lil Uzi Vert. The Ben Billions and Julian Beatz-produced “Pose” further proves Gotti isn’t playing around this year, and could be the closest we get to hearing Uzi’s Eternal Atake for a while.
Jada Pinkett Smith has previously explained why she’s the happiest she’s even been in her whole entire life and it all has to do with her inner peace. “I really thought happiness had a lot to do with pleasure, and I realized that happiness is about peace,” she explained. “I am the most peaceful I’ve ever been in my life, so I am the happiest.”

Aside from her inner thoughts and feels, Jada can thank her loving family for bringing her joy, sometimes in the form little things such as her husband Will Smith giving her a piggyback when her feet hurt. The “Set It Off” actress shared an image to Instagram that sees Will carry her outside an airport. “When your feet hurt…” she captioned he image.
While Jada and Will are clear couple goals, the 47-year-old previously opened up on how his appearance on her Red Table Talk series is to show that marriages aren’t perfect. “What was really important about Will and I doing that show together — two things — first all was to get rid the idea that people in the public eye have perfect relationships. We were kind sick living up to that,” she explained.
“Will being the successful guy that he is and being willing to share what his pitfalls were in the relationship and in his family, you can’t imagine how many other successful men called and said, ‘Wow, my wife has been saying the same thing for years. Because you said it, it opened my eyes and because you said it, now I’m willing to listen,'” she added.
Before getting locked up on double murder charges, YNW Melly was considered one the fastest rising rappers from the state Florida. With the number superstars the Sunshine State has churned out in the last few years, people were excited to see what would become the teenager. Early in his career, he kept getting into rough situations with the police, earning an arrest at the beginning the year for marijuana possession. After he got out jail, he released his album We All Shine and almost directly following, he turned himself in for double murder. We’re waiting to find out what Melly’s sentence will be but right now, he’s facing the death penalty. When/if he ever gets out, he’s already got his eyes on a few possible collaborations, including one with New York’s Lil Tjay.
18-year-old Bronx native Tjay has been rising quickly in the ranks the East Coast’s favorite new rappers and it’s partly due to his stellar inclusion on Polo G’s “Pop Out.” His new music video caused a little bit confusion when some fans believed he was arrested. The star could be seen fighting with cops before being thrown into the back a cop car. Thankfully, it turns out that it was all for his “F.N” video and even from behind bars, YNW Melly is into the track.
The Florida artist took to his social media pages to extend a co-sign to Lil Tjay, reposting his video and fering a brief message. “Free Da Real,” wrote Melly, which Tjay later echoed in the comments.

A$AP Rocky is getting back into the flow things after he was convicted assault in Sweden earlier this month. The rapper was at the center international attention after he was arrested for a fight he got into. Presidential forces came into play and things got a bit messy on an international relations tip. Since his release, he’s played a few shows and made a few appearances here and there but for the most part, he’s been remaining lowkey and enjoying his general freedom in America.
Last night, the rapper and his manager had a pretty low-key evening as they headed to Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village to peep The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown. A source close to PageSix revealed he was coasted in the club around 7 p.m. to check out the venue itself before making his return a few hours later where he was kickin’ it in the VIP. The rapper’s outing was mainly to show love to the band as he kept a low prile during the night.
“He was nice to everyone but he was really there as a fan to see a legendary artist perform and not to take attention away from that,” a source said. “They loved the show and A$AP bought some vinyl at the merch table before leaving.”

Chris Brown is currently on tour to promote his new album but he’s not missing out on seeing his beautiful daughter grow up in front his very eyes. Although he will surely have less time to spend with family as he travels across the country, we’re sure he’ll be fitting in some quality time with his baby when he can. For now, he’s stuck watching videos her on his family’s proper social pages, including this one RoRo singing his most recent hit single.
She went for a swim with her grandmother when the camera came out, capturing Royalty in her element. Breezy’s mom prompted her to get a move on with her vocals as the song played in the background and she came through, belting out Drake’s verse in her adorable way. If Chris’ daughter isn’t the cutest kid on the planet, then we don’t know what’s good. Watch the video, reposted by a fan page, below.

British pop band The 1975 have come up with a novel approach to both help the environment and get some good publicity at the same time.
Instead of producing T-shirts in connection with their upcoming album, the band is going to print over their existing stock of tees from past albums and concert tours. They are also encouraging their fans to get their old tees refreshed with the new design.
With the band’s latest album Notes On A Conditional Form set to be released February 21st, 2020, frontman Matt Healy wrote in an Instagram post explaining that all shirts they will be selling at shows in support of the new record would be reconditioned from old ones. He also mentioned that at the band’s upcoming shows, in the English cities of Leeds and Reading, fans can bring their old shirts, whether they be 1975 shirts or not, and get them refreshed with the band’s new design.
“You will also be able to bring any old 1975 shirt or ANY bands you love shirts to Reading [and Leeds] festival and have the same print done over the top there”, he added.
The 1975 are not the first people to come up with the idea of printing over old concert T-shirts.
Infamously, Kendall and Kylie Jenner sold expensive vintage tees with their images superimposed over famous music artists, such as the Doors, Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. This got the sisters in big legal trouble, but the 1975 are largely superimposing onto their old t-shirts. And there’s no law against changing a t-shirt you’ve already purchased.
The move to more sustainable T-shirts is not the only environmentally conscious activity the 1975 has been up to.
The first track off their new album, which just happens to be called ‘The 1975,’ was recorded with Greta Thunberg, who is a noted environmental activist. The band is further donating all the proceeds from this track to Extinction Rebellion, which is an environmental campaign group.
The 1975 were formed in 2002, but they did not record their first album until 2013. They have since had 3 number one albums in the United Kingdom.
Toy manufacturer Hasbro has been aggressively expanding into the entertainment business.
As part of this push, the company announced that it had purchased eOne for $4 billion. eOne is the company behind the popular children’s animated show Peppa Pig as well as many other properties, such as Ricky Zoom and PJ Masks.
These properties will join Hasbro’s other valuable properties. This includes:
My Little Pony
Those in the music business are also familiar with eOne Music, which didn’t get much attention in the announcement. In its latest full-year financial disclosures, eOne Music delivered nearly $79 million in annual revenues, roughly 7% of the total eOne gross. eOne also recently acquired the UK-based Audio Network to expand its global royalty accounting and publishing capabilities.
Brian Goldner, who is the CEO of Hasbro, said that his company intends to harness eOne’s ability to create immersive entertainment toward its own popular brands, which he feels can appeal to a wide range of international audiences, including families and gamers.
The deal is not quite final, as regulators must still approve it. Analysts expect the transaction to be finalized sometime before the end of the year. As part of the deal, Hasbro indicated that eOne’s top executives would be joining Hasbro. Though, as of now, they have yet to name any of these executives nor have they described what their roles at Hasbro would entail.
However, one thing is certain: investors love the news. Shares of eOne, which are traded on the the London Stock Exchange, rose in excess of 35% upon the announcement of the purchase. This has led the market value of eOne to exceed what Hasbro agreed to pay for it. Though some believe that this might spur a rival bid for eOne, which could scuttle the deal.
The closing of toy store giant Toys ‘R’ Us last year forced Hasbro to diversify its operations into the entertainment business. As part of this, in June of this year the company announced that it had entered into a partnership with Netflix, which is developing an animated series that is based on a trading card game that Hasbro makes called “Magic: The Gathering.”
Travis Scott may have only become a household name in 2018 but his journey to the top was a lengthy one. He came up under the wing hip-hop greatness, T.I. and Kanye West, only to use that as leverage to establish his own name. In the past few years, he became a superstar in his own right. Although he’s maintained a relatively low prile in the public eye, the rapper will finally be giving deeper insight into his world in his upcoming Netflix documentary.
If you were one the lucky few in Houston yesterday, you were able to get a VHS copy Look Mom I Can Fly — the upcoming Netflix documentary on Travis Scott. The rapper revealed it was on the way yesterday with a pop-up shop. Now, Netflix has blessed fans with the extended trailer which opens up with Travis Scott looking at old footage himself performing in front a very small group people, reflecting how far he’s come in the game. The documentary trailer also includes footage Travis Scott with his daughter and his girl, Kylie Jenner.
Look Mom I Can Fly is set to arrive on Aug. 28th, a few weeks after the one year anniversary Astroworld. The album mainly focuses on the rapper’s life ahead the release his biggest project to date.
