Nipsey Hussle's Puma Collection Is Still Happening — Release Next Month

The status of a Puma collaboration with Nipsey Hussle was previously unclear.

Nipsey Hussle had been collaborating with Puma on a fall fashion collection, though it was unclear where things stood when the rapper was killed.  Now, it turns out that the collection was far enough along and will be released on September 5th.

Hussle’s TMC brand, which is an acronym for “The Marathon Continues,” announced the news in a post on the late entertainer’s Instagram account. The post indicated that Hussle, before he died, had spent the previous year working on this project, with which he was involved from the conceptual stages all the way to the final products.

The Instagram post further indicated that the project is very important to the entire TMC team, and that they are taking care to make sure that the final products are what Hussle envisioned.

Since the spring of this year, both TMC and Puma have been providing teases of what would be included in the collection.

Hussle himself originally announced the collaboration on his Instagram account on March 4th in a video. He posted this just a month prior to his shooting death in Los Angeles, which occurred outside of his apparel store. A few months later, Puma put up billboards all over Los Angeles that featured an image of Hussle praying.

Among items expected to to be released in September are both a tracksuit and a khaki suit.

Before his death, Nipsey Hussle had been involved in the west coast hip-hop scene for more than a decade. But his debut album, Victory Lap, was only released in 2018.  It received both commercial and critical acclaim and also received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album.

Hussle also served as a brand ambassador for Puma, joining other celebrities such as Rihanna and Selena Gomez, while appearing in numerous advertising campaigns for the company.

Dave East Pays Tribute to Nipsey Hussle on Freestyle

The Marathon continues.

While overseas in London, Dave East paid tribute to Nipsey Hussle during a heartfelt freestyle for “Tim Westwood TV” on Capital XTRA. Wearing a Nipsey “God Will Rise” T-shirt, the Harlem rapper put on for the Crenshaw MC, who he called a brother.

He revealed that he and Nipsey were planning to release a mixtape together and that he turned to him for advice when he wanted to start a clothing line.

“I’ma listen to your raps forever / On the real / Fuck how they feel, Victory Lap was better,” he raps. “South Central ain’t never gonna feel the same / You got me scared ’cause it ain’t too many of us left.”

He ended with a prayer: “If I could ask God for something, just give me back my ni**as.”

Earlier this month, East dropped his Survival Pacc EP featuring a pair of tracks with Gunna and Max B. He is now readying his major-label debut album for release later this year.

Meanwhile, Puma has announced that its co-branded apparel collection with Hussle’s The Marathon Continues will launch on Sept. 5.

Billie Eilish Found Stealing Anime Artwork on Sweatshirts, T-Shirts, Other Merch

After the flat-out copy was detected, Billie Eilish pulled the items from her official merch store.

Billie Eilish’s merchandising collaboration with Siberia Hills has created a messy situation.

Over the weekend, it came to light that Billie Eilish has been using copyrighted anime artwork on her merchandise without the permission and/or support of the original artist, Makoto Kurokawa.  As a result, Elish has pulled all the products from her merchandise store.

At this stage, it looks like two separate hoodies, a t-shirt, and possibly other articles of clothing used the lifted anime.

Siberia Hills, an apparel and design company, took to Instagram to apologize for the copyright infringement, going as far as naming “Mr. M Qurokawa,” the artist whose work was taken.  In the same post, Siberia Hills claimed full responsibility for the mishap, writing,

“Billie and her team were not aware that we used your art.”

Anime fans quickly spotted the apparent similarities between Eilish’s design and the anime artwork, and the resulting controversy forced Siberia Hills and Eilish to act.  It’s unclear why Siberia Hills lifted the artwork, and the mentioned apology provided no explanation as to how the infringement occurred.

Perhaps that part will be settled in court.

Siberia Hills has been accused of stealing artwork in the past, but this episode is their most public — and controversial — example of copyright infringement.

At the time of writing, Elish hadn’t addressed the subject publicly. Makoto Kurokawa issued a statement on Twitter that thanked fans for bringing the copyright infringement to his attention.

“I was informed that a company used one of my fan-art of an existing copyrighted character on the clothes for sale without permission,” Kurokawa stated.  “I didn’t permit them to use my fan-art for their design work. I didn’t permit them to use my fan-art for merchandise.”

“My fan-art is a fan-art of an existing copyrighted character,” the artist continued.  “The copyright belongs to the original holder.  Unauthorized merchandise is not allowed.  It seems the promo tweet was already deleted and the merchandise was removed from the online store.”

The purchased items will not be shipped, and customers will receive a full refund.  That last part could prove critical if legal action arises, as Kurokawa seeks damages based on previously sold (and unreturned) items.  Items already sold and retained by fans as collectors’ items could become serious liabilities — though Kurokawa could let the whole thing slide (or at least ‘amicably settle’).

Bille Eilish rose to prominence in 2016, with “Ocean Eyes” putting the singer on the map.

The 17-year-old has since enjoyed considerable commercial success, and her debut album, When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, dropped earlier this year.

Eilish is set to perform more than 30 dates between now and November. August and the first half of September will see Eilish hold concerts across Europe, and after that, she’ll entertain fans in various southern U.S. states and Mexico.

Supreme Teases Fall/Winter 2019 Collection: First Look

Supreme’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection will apparently include another range apparel inspired by the beloved British band, The Smiths.

As seen in the teaser image posted on Supreme’s ficial IG account, the Fall/Winter collection will include a denim jacket featuring an image from The Smiths’ 1985 album, “Meat Is Murder.” The photo in question depicts a solider from the Vietnam War, along with the text, “Supreme Is Love” stamped on his helmet.

Supreme first linked up with The Smiths as part their 2016 Spring/Summer collection, featuring lead singer Morrissey. According to Highsnobiety, Morrissey wasn’t pleased with the imagery used in that collection and he released the following statement shortly after it was unveiled.

I apologize enormously for the enfeebled photograph me issued this week by Supreme. The shot was taken in October 2015. I considered the photograph to be fit only for a medical encyclopedia and I pleaded with Supreme not to use it. This was before I learned that Supreme were sponsored in part by the beef sandwich pharaoh known as White Castle. Supreme were issued with a legal caution not to use the photograph and their fee would be returned. Evidently Supreme have ignored my lawyer. No safety within the corridors law. Ugh. I fer excessive apologies for this association. Shame is indeed the name.

It remains to be seen what other Supreme x The Smiths gear will be available as part the Fall/Winter 2019 collection, but you can check out the teaser image in the IG post embedded below.

Wendy Williams Ends Bow Wow Beef With Sly Comment On Gift From Lil Nas X

Bow Wow first stooped to a low level with he brought up his ex Ciara at a recent show telling the audience he “had this bitch first.” Of course, Wendy Wiliams discussed the comment on her self-titled talk show and called out Bow Wow for his disrespect. “It’s very distasteful, you know what I’m saying? We’ve all had somebody before we had you, man, but to be shirtless in a club, calling her a bitch, you are so wrong for that,” she said.

The “Like You” rapper stooped even lower when he shared an image Wendy on Twitter, that sees her in her bathing suit with a comment that’s very much body-shaming her. At first, sources said Wendy wasn’t fazed by his childish ways and she proved it once more on a recent taping her show when she dropped a comment clearly aimed at Bow Wow.

The sly move happened when Wendy was discussing a pair jean shorts, or rather “panty shorts” Lil Nas X sent her from his Wrangler collection. Her response to was plain and simple to anyone watching who would soon see her in her new apparel: “Please refrain from your body shame. You don’t have to like it, but someone does.”
