Cardi B Reveals Plans for New Album, Baby, & Tour

Cardi B is not slowing down.

Fresh off the $33 million debut of Hustlers at the box office, the rapper-turned-actress went on Instagram Live to give her fans an update on her big plans for 2020, which includes new music, a tour, and even a baby.

The Grammy-winning rapper plans to take the next couple months to work on the follow-up to her 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy. “I’ve been in album mode lately,” said Cardi. “I feel like I already got two songs that I definitely want to put on my album.”

After she wraps her sophomore album, she will return to the road on her own headlining tour. “I’m already working on a tour deal. I feel like I have proven myself enough that I sell enough tickets,” she said. “Yeah, Cardi sell shit. You’re lucky I’m not a drug dealer. I take over ni**as’ blocks ’cause Cardi be selling.”

In addition to her busy work schedule, she and Offset want to expand their family. “After my tour, I want to have another kid,” said Kulture’s mother. “And I’m really planning to do all of that in less than a year.”

But first, Cardi will appear alongside Chance the Rapper and T.I. in Netflix’s hip-hop competition series “Rhythm + Flow.” The 10 hour-long episodes will roll out over the course of three weeks starting Oct. 9.

J. Cole, DaBaby, & Lute Team Up in Dreamville’s ‘Under the Sun’ Video

The Ville is back.

J. Cole hits the streets with DaBaby and Lute in the video for Dreamville’s “Under the Sun.” The clip, directed by Scott Lazer, Aisultan Seitov, David Peters, and Chad Tennies, opens with Cole eating a sandwich in a bodega with DaBaby and Lute. He then gets pulled down the street by two dogs on a leash, while Lute raps on a fire escape and DaBaby reps the Charlotte Hornets outside an NYC housing project.

The track, which also features vocals from Kendrick Lamar, appears on Dreamville’s chart-topping compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in July and was certified gold.

“Under the Sun” follows Dreamville’s video for “Sacrifices” with Cole, Smino, Saba, and EarthGang, whose album Mirrorland dropped earlier this month.

Anderson .Paak’s Soulful Cover Of Lil Nas X’s "Old Town Road" Is Everything

Lil Nas X’s hit track “Old Town Road” seems to be going nowhere considering Lil Nas’ efforts to push his other single, “Panini.” After “Old Town Road” shined on the charts, scored a historical placement and became the song the summer, Lil Nas X’s team clearly made a move to show love to his other work and secured even more love when DaBaby was grabbed as a feature on “Panini.”

However, when none other than Anderson .Paak decides to perform a new rendition any given song attention has to be paid and Anderson has done so with “Old Town Road” in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. The soulful, bodied rework was accompanied by a handful backup singers and hears Anderson simply slow things down a bit and hit some those notes just a little higher.

In other Lil Nas news, he previously admitted that he’s working on his debut album that’s only “2% complete.”

“With this, I wanna have at least 70 songs to choose from, for like making a 10-15 track album,” he said his progress. While we wait for the full tape, we can expect more remixes “Panini” since the 20-year-old made it clear that 25 remixes are on the way.

Twelve6 Entertainment, Downtown Music Publishing Ink a JV Partnership

Earlier today, Nashville-based Twelve6 Entertainment announced a broad-reaching partnership with Downtown Music Publishing.

As part of the multi-faceted partnership, Downtown will provide administrative and creative services to Twelve6’s artists and songwriters, a roster that includes Jerry Flowers and Trevor Rosen of Old Dominion.  The two companies will also collaborate on a joint venture that will entail both groups identifying and signing new musical talent.

The joint venture has already signed its first new artist: singer and songwriter Alex Hall, who just released his first song, titled “Half Past You.” Hall is currently in the studio recording his debut album, which is being produced by Grammy Award winners Shane McAnally, Pete Good, and AJ Babcock.

Hall started his musical career as a teenager. Through singing at restaurants and local shows, Hall landed a Nashville booking agent, which led to him performing more than 100 shows while attending high school. His music blends such diverse influences as country music stars like Eric Church and Keith Urban and rock stars like John Mayer and Bruce Springsteen.

Twelve6 Entertainment, which focuses on both artist development and publishing, expects more songwriters to join Hall, Flowers, and Rosen in the next few weeks. They are looking to sign both established stars and new artists, according to plans shared with DMN.

Founded in 2007 with offices all over the world, Downtown Music Publishing is now considered one of the top music rights management companies. They offer creative publishing services to some of the best songwriters in the past century, and their publishing roster includes works from The Beatles, George Gershwin, The Kinks, Mötley Crüe, Phish, Tori Amos, Ryan Tedder, and One Direction.

The company also represents emerging talent, such as Phony Ppl, Theophilus London, Mae Muller, Cautious Clay, and Stella Donnelly.  Just recently, Downtown acquired CD Baby for .

Tom Brady Is Battling Swamp-Ass One Towel At A Time

Faithful HNHH readers, this was the day I always feared growing up. As a life-long football fan, I never thought I would have to write about Tom Brady and his distaste for the wet butts his teammates. For fear being labeled as “sus” by the likes you Chad commenters out there, I have to preface this by saying I don’t co-sign what I’m about to write about, just stating the facts.

Okay, now that we’ve got that out the way, let’s talk about Brady’s biggest fear out on the field: swamp-ass. You’re probably thinking to yourself that such a hindrance is natural and couldn’t affect how you play that much. Well, for Brady, it’s a big deal. In a new piece from The Athletic, Brady’s centers confess to how Brady wanted their butts dry so sweat wouldn’t touch the ball when it was snapped. This led to some interesting tactics, or antics depending on how you see it.

“I have actually tried to train my body not to sweat,” center David Andrews said. “So, I would sit in the sauna and just try not to (sweat). It didn’t work.”

Damien Woody also chimed in on this story fering up a similar tale. “As a center, I’m like, hell, my job is hard enough. I got to snap the ball. I’ve got a 300-plus-pound man on top me,” Woody explained. “You’re just going to have to deal with the swamp ass.”

Another center, Dan Koeppen, said Brady used to stuff a towel down his pants to reduce the swamp ass. Brady would even pour baby powder down the pants his centers to get everything dry.

So there you have it, kids, if you want to win six Super Bowls like Tom Brady, you’re going to have to become a stickler for swamp-ass. Otherwise, it’s gonna be a long, sweaty, stinky career for you.

Spotify's Shopping Spree Continues With a SoundBetter Acquisition

Buying SoundBetter’s the easy part. Now, Spotify’s gotta figure out what to do with it.

And Spotify’s latest acquisition?

That would be SoundBetter, an audio production professional marketplace that’s been quietly facilitating collaborations since 2012.  SoundBetter says they currently have a community of roughly 18,000 musicians, audio professionals, and content creators, with ‘tens of thousands’ of projects facilitated through its platform.

It’s a well-worn internet marketplace idea with a musical twist — and apparently, great execution.  But exactly why Spotify, a streaming music company, wants to acquire a company like SoundBetter is initially unclear.

At the onset, Spotify seems intent on rounding out its artist services, with Spotify for Artists the focal point.

That shifts the focus from ingesting and curating millions of songs to helping to facilitate the creation of music,

“As we build out our tools for creators, we want to give them the resources they need to thrive,” relayed Beckwith Kloss, VP Product, Creator at Spotify.  “SoundBetter has the same vision.  We’re excited that creators can generate income through SoundBetter, as well as benefit from its network of top professionals – from instrumentalists to songwriters to producers – as they perfect their tracks.”

SoundBetter cofounder and CEO Shachar Gilad says his company is now spread across 14,000 cities and 176 countries.  He declared SoundBetter “the most comprehensive global marketplace for music and audio production professionals for hire in the world,” with Spotify obviously agreeing.  Indeed, Spotify desperately needs to establish its global footprint, with incumbents like Apple, Amazon and Google already enjoying broad worldwide infrastructure.

SoundBetter sounds like a rich community, though it’s still unclear how Spotify plans to integrate SoundBetter into its broader business model.  The quick version is that Spotify will better engage musicians and professionals, while drawing them closer to the Spotify platform.  That means creating music in partnership with Spotify, making it a more important streaming platform for creators.

That sounds similar to the intent behind Spotify’s recent investment in Distrokid.

The ultra-successful Distrokid, helmed by Philip Kaplan, has been rattling the cage of more established distributors like CD Baby (now owned by Downtown Music Publishing) and TuneCore for years.  But Spotify killed its ambitious distribution plans after only a few months, suggesting a struggle at Spotify to expand its core business model.

Interestingly, Digital Music News , and we’ve been fielding a few inquiries about the company since that point.  But we didn’t quite expect Spotify to swoop in — though given the company’s expansive forays into areas like podcasting and distribution, perhaps anything’s game that can expand the company’s core model.

Chance the Rapper Performs ‘Eternal’ on ‘Ellen’

After delaying his tour until 2020, Chance the Rapper stopped by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Wednesday for a performance and interview.

The father of two sat down to discuss the “fresh” arrival of his week-old daughter, Marli Grace Bennett. “I love her, so that’s dope,” said Chance, who postponed his tour to focus on his family.

The 26-year-old recounted the story of how he met his wife Kirsten Bennett. “Definitely before I was successful, she was my girlfriend for sure,” he told Ellen.

The talk show host praised him for giving back to his community, including his $1 million donation to Chicago Public Schools. “My parents since I was young definitely instilled in me to like, when you see people in need you don’t just want to pass them by, you want to try and do something beneficial to them before you leave,” he said.

Birdman Accused Of Withholding Gucci Bikes In $12M Mansion Lawsuit: Report

Another new day, another new development Birdman’s legal woes. Birdman‘s been in a legal battle over his Miami mansion and things have been going terribly for him. Earlier this year, his lawyers dropped him in the lawsuit over “irreconcilable differences and failure communication.” While he has found a new lawyer since then, it appears as though he has some explaining to do over a quartet Gucci bicycles.

According to The Blast, Birdman is being accused refusing to hand over four Gucci bicycles to EMG Transfer Agent who were recently ordered to take possession Baby’s mansion and property. EMG Transfer Agent sued Birdman in 2017 after he failed to pay back a $12M loan and put up his Miami mansion as collateral. A judge granted them permission to seize the property and sent a court-appointed receiver to check out the inventory at Birdman’s place including the Gucci bikes. Now, the documents state the “four collectors’ bicycles that were designed/manufactured by Gucci which were located at the Mortgaged Property” are now missing.

The ficial is demanding that Birdman turn them over but that might not happen. Birdman’s lawyer said that the Cash Money CEO actually gave him the bikes as a way to cover a $40K legal bill. However, the ficial isn’t buying it. He claims Birdman had the bikes in his possession this whole time and wants the rapper to cough them over.
