Artists make cash on the highway. With the decline file gross sales, and the controversial payout for streams taking on, the easiest way for an artist to eat is on the highway. Ashanti was slated to carry out at Stony Brook University’s Back To Brook occasion later this month, however her present has been axed. According to Bossip, the present was canceled after promoting solely 24 tickets. The faculty launched an announcement in regards to the cancellation, writing:

To be truthful, the occasion was initially speculated to be headlined by Teyana Taylor. Taylor pulled out the live performance two weeks prior, and Stony Brook reached out to Ashanti to take over. The occasion was by no means correctly promoted as occasion organizers rushed to alter issues final minute, which led to the horrendous gross sales. Currently, Ashanti is engaged on a joint album with frequent collaborator, Ja Rule.
Roseanne Barr is still pointing the finger at everyone else besides herself. Yes, the disgraced comedian and actress did fer an apology for making racist comments about former White House advisor Valerie Jarrett. Still, Roseanne’s initial statements, comparing the Obama-era advisor to an ape mixed with a Muslim, got her show canceled and has derailed her career for the time being. Roseanne tweeted then deleted an apology, but subsequently went on several public rants. The veteran comedian seemed to be suffering from mental health issues after she freaked out during an interview and yelled, “I thought the bitch was white!”
Roseanne last appeared on Fox’s Hannity program, where she pandered to the Right-leaning audience with a defiant cry “I’m so sorry that you thought I was racist.” Now, Roseanne has stopped by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach podcast once more to speak about her controversial and career halting tweet. She blamed the Left for weaponizing her apology, which sounds like a theory that Hannity wrote. “My friends told me at the beginning, ‘Oh my god, you made a fatal mistake, and that is you apologized to the left and once you apologize they never forgive, they just try to beat you down until you don’t exist,'” Roseanne stated.
“I should never have said I’m sorry in their world,” she continued. “In my world, I had to because I was sorry. For crying out loud, I was sorry. People were so angry and, I have to say, a little bit ill-informed about me that they would put me in the same box where they have people who call for the death all Jews and want to enslave all black people — real racists that actually exist. They put me in this box with them, and how do they think that’s going to affect me? They don’t, and they’re under mind control.” She also revealed that she plans on leaving the country.
“I have an opportunity to go to Israel for a few months and study with my favorite teachers over there, and that’s where I’m going to go and probably move somewhere there and study with my favorite teachers,” Roseanne said. “I have saved a few pennies and I’m so lucky I can go…and study with any rabbi that I can ask to teach me, and it’s my great joy and privilege to be a Jewish woman.”
Legendary late night talk show hosts are rare, and Netflix is trying to get a feel for the talk-show genre. Chelsea Handler had a talk show on the streaming giant for two seasons before it was shut down. More recently, Netflix introduced David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction while also winning over Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Cfee from Crackle. Still, Netflix is trying to understand the market for talk shows, and according to Deadline, they just canceled two series that were expected to help push the streaming service forward in the genre.
Netflix has pulled the plug on The Break with Michelle Wolf and The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale. Michelle Wolf made headlines earlier this year for roasting politicians at the White House Correspondents Dinner. She used the same crude humor on her talk show, which made a point to take aim at both conservatives and liberals. Joel McHale’s talk show was not under as big a spotlight as Wolf’s, but neither show was able to draw in enough viewership for Netflix to bring them back for a second season. McHale will still be receiving a Netflix check though, for his involvement in their dark comedy series Santa Clarita Diet.
After he was booked to replace Cardi B at Panorama Festival in New York, Lil Wayne was a no-show due to weather concerns. The storm was a legit issue too as others were forced to cancel their sets. The Migos, Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, and more were all victims the weather, canceling their shows at the festival as a result. However, recent reports are saying that Lil Wayne’s non-appearance may not have actually been because the weather.
You’ll recall a similar incident at Rolling Loud Miami in May as Weezy was set to headline one the secondary stages before dropping out the show at the last minute, citing an unexpected illness. According to Page Six though, this time around is simply because he just “didn’t want to do it.” Writing that their source is a “music insider,” the publication was reportedly informed that talks were “going on for days, like three days. He just did not want to do the festival.”
Another source has come forward in telling the website that Lil Wayne simply hates New York after spending time at Rikers back in 2009. “He’s hated it here since his arrest years ago,” they were told. Tunechi’s attorney is denying that this is the case as Ron Sweeney said, “All incorrect. I was there at the festival. We wanted to do the show. We had a flight delay. We tried to switch with Gucci Mane and go on at 8:30 p.m. Why would someone turn hundreds thousands dollars down in a city where he just did Summer Jam?”
Obviously, this information should be taken with a grain salt. Many performers were forced to cancel because the storm and Weezy is very likely one them.
Roseanne Barr enjoyed a brief comeback earlier this year when her television show was rebooted. The right-leaning series rose more than a couple eyebrows, but the show was a hit none the less. Everyone deserves a platform, whether they’re right-leaning, left-leaning, or neither. Not long after Rosanne was reveling in her success, she tweeted out the infamous Valerie Jarrett statement that compared the former senior White House advisor to an ape mixed with a Muslim. Her tweet went viral, and her show was immediately canceled. First, Roseanne tried the tearful apology. Next, she had a meltdown where she screamed “Goddammit! I thought the bitch was white.” Now, she’s showing her true colors.
Perplexingly, Roseanne Barr believes that it wasn’t her racist tweet that got her show canceled. In a video Barr uploaded to her Youtube channel, the comedian claims that voting for Donald Trump is not allowed in Hollywood, and that’s why she is in the position she is in now.
“This was my statement from the very beginning and it will continue to be forever, because it is the truth,” stated Barr. “When ABC called, and asked me to explain my ‘egregious and unforgivable tweet,’ I told them, ‘I thought Valerie Jarrett was white.’ And I also said, ‘I am willing to go on The View, Jimmy Kimmel or whatever other show you want me to go on and explain that to my audience.”
“Now instead what happened was about 40 minutes after that, my show was canceled before even one advertiser pulled out, and I was labeled a racist,” she continued. “Why, you ask? Well, the answer is simple, because I voted for Donald Trump, and that is not allowed in Hollywood.”
If you’re like us and you follow tons artists on your social feeds, you were fully aware that this weekend was special. Wireless Festival was taking place in the U.K. and most the hottest acts in the world were in attendance, performing for thousands adoring fans. One the most interesting situations surrounded DJ Khaled and whether or not he would actually show up. Hours before he was set to perform, the producer and executive was sharing snaps himself on vacation with his family, leading many concertgoers to wonder if he had any intention flying to the U.K. to perform.
Eventually, Drake was announced as his surprise replacement and, as HNHH community member TOflight said, fans were upgraded from Economy to First Class with the change. Khaled’s no-show was initially explained as a travel snafu but Wireless came through with some more details on their Twitter page. According to the post, they had been made aware the travel issues for months as they attempted to work around his schedule.
“Due to a scheduling conflict related to filming the The Four, DJ Khaled was not able to commit to perform at Wireless Festival. Although we have known for a few months and tried to make it work, it wasn’t possible.”
Anybody hoping to see Khaled at the festival went home having not witnessed the star yelling his name and playing his biggest hits but on the bright side, they did witness Drizzy Drake performing his new material for the first time. Glass half full?
It looks like Lil Uzi Vert has another lawsuit on his hands. According to TMZ, the Philly rapper was supposed to co-star with Rick Ross at a concert last Summer, but instead they took the money and left fans hanging, or so says the lawsuit.
Rick Ross was first sued by a Pennsylvania entertainment company for taking the money & not performing, and now they’ve reportedly just added Uzi to the lawsuit. According to the documents, both rappers were supposed to perform on June 10, 2017 at a minor league ballpark in Pennsylvania, but course they didn’t. The company says it forked over about $200k to lock it down, and ultimately got screwed over.
As we previously reported, Rozay bailed on the show, and the company says he canceled only two nights before the show. According to the suit, Lil Uzi did the same thing as well. As a result, the MMG boss and Uzi are now both being sued for roughly around $200k in deposit money, plus reimbursement for what was lost by the last-minute cancellation. Now whether they get remains to be seen, but it’s not looking good for the rappers at this moment.
This report comes just days after finding out that Lil Uzi Vert & DJ Carnage have something “coming soon,” so keep your eyes peeled for that as well.
We’ll continue to keep you posted on all the latest with Uzi moving forward.
