Jamie Foxx, Michael B Jordan & Brie Larson To Star In Upcoming Drama "Just Mercy"

Jamie Foxx, Michael B. Jordan & Brie Larson are all set to star in a new drama titled Just Mercy based on the 2014 bestselling book Just Mercy: A Story Justice and Redemption. The film centers around the true story Walter McMillian in 1987. McMillian was wrongfully sentenced to death row for the murder a young white woman. It took the coercion by Sheriff Tom Tate and others as well as perjury by witnesses to land McMillian the false conviction.

Luckily, he was exonerated in a famous decision. The forthcoming film will focus on McMillian’s lawyer as well as himself. The IMDb description for the film reads, “Just Mercy shadows world-renowned civil rights defense attorney Bryan Stevenson as he recounts his experiences and details the case a condemned death row prisoner whom he fought to free.” Stevenson will be played by Michael B. Jordan. Jamie Foxx will star as McMillian. O’Shea Jackson Jr. will support as another wrongly convicted black man whom Stevenson will defend. Rounding out the remarkable cast will be Brie Larson. Larson will take on the role the local operations director the Equal Justice Initiative, lending a hand to Stevenson.

Jamie Foxx, Michael B. Jordan & O’Shea Jackson Jr. To Star In "Just Mercy" Drama

The forthcoming Warner Bros. Pictures’ film Just Mercy, which was inspired by the extraordinary exoneration of falsely convicted death row inmate Walter McMillian in 1987, hits theaters this Christmas.

A notorious murder of an 18-year-old girl was the spark of life-changing events for McMillian despite a plethora of evidence pointing to his innocence. The upcoming movie recounts the events leading to the false murder accusation and incarceration of McMillian, played by Jamie Foxx, as he later becomes connected with a lawyer named Bryan Stevenson, who’s played by Michael B. Jordan.

The film shadows Stevenson through a maze of legal and political obstacles coupled with racism. The lawyer tirelessly battles for MacMillian’s innocence as well as another black man (portrayed by O’Shea Jackson Jr.) who was wrongly convicted of murder in Alabama.

With assistance from Eva Ansley, the local operations director of the Equal Justice Initiative played by Brie Larson, Stevenson worked on one of his first and most malevolent cases that ultimately became historic.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton brought the all-too-familiar story to life with the help of Stevenson’s 2014 award-winning bestseller Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption.

The drama will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and debut in theaters on Christmas Day (December 25).

Interview: Latrell James On Getting Setback To Comeback

New York, NY – Success in the music business is a fickle beast — one that’s defined in different ways by different artists. For some artists, success comes in the form of working with his or her favorite rapper or producer; for others, it’s internet notoriety; and still, for others, it involves laying low and getting paid.

For Boston-based artist, producer, and wunderkind Latrell James, success for him involves a little bit of all of the above.

“The word legacy is important to me,” he told HipHopDX exclusively. “We all get caught up in all the stats and the analytics. We forget the whole purpose of creating. I make music for me, to be able to get paid for my ideas is a blessing. I haven’t worked a 9-5 job in four years and I’m independent. That’s my legacy.”

His independence, of course, comes as a result of a few different projects: after releasing his critically acclaimed debut album, Twelve, James’s voice became ever-pervasive when it was featured in a national Honey Nut Cheerios commercial. (You’re singing along to it now, aren’t you? “The good goes around and around…”? Yep, that’s him.)

The commercial, which James said came as a result of his affiliation with Gratitude Sound, was the launching pad to bigger and better offers. He hit big stages at the House of Blues and JAMN 94.5’s Summer Jam concert, worked with a cadre of talent that includes Lil Dicky, JID, Cousin Stizz, Khary, Michael Christmas, and PRO ERA’s Aaron Rose, and even got featured on the Dreamville mixtape, Revenge of the Dreamers III.

And then, just as suddenly as he came onto the scene, he vanished.

But, James said, he vanished for a good reason. “The delay comes from me focusing on family. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and my father had a triple bypass. At that particular moment, music was no longer a priority to me,” he said.

Now, though, he’s back and better than ever. He dropped “Tracfone” in March, to great critical acclaim, and he said that he will continue to drop more projects in the near future. He also promised to tour, live, in support of his various projects and strives to be the “greatest influence” rather than the most popular rapper.

“I’m an observant person, I make songs about the small details people skip over in the big picture. I think people being themselves is the most important thing anyway can contribute to the musical landscape. I feel I bring that energy,” he said. “But I want people to know that success in music doesn’t always look like what the media portrays. There are tiers to being successful. I pay my bills and live day to day from my music. That’s what success is.”

50 Cent & Birdman Have Their Sights Set On Super Rare $9M Bugatti

50 Cent is eying a new car but it’s not just a new car. It’s a brand new Bugatti. But again, it’s not just any Bugatti — it’s the super rare, limited edition Bugatti Centidieci. Now, Fif’s known for blowing hella dough on new cars. He bought several six-figure luxury cars for himself for Christmas but it seems like he’s trying to up the ante on his next purchase with the new Bugatti.

If you’re a multimillionaire like 50 Cent with money to blow like Birdman, maybe getting a Bugatti Centidieci might seem like a reasonable purchase if you’re trying to treat yourself. The Centidieci is a car for the elite. With only 10 them being made, the car is currently going for $9M. Fif teased the idea it being his next purchase on Instagram with a screenshot CNN’s tweet about the car. “TYCOON BOOM. 9 mill wait, we must get the building the car in too,” he wrote. “They going too far.”

Fif could definitely afford it but he may have been joking about the purchase a multi-million dollar super car. Birdman, on the other hand, could very well be serious. He is the same guy who recently got diamonds placed in his teeth so it doesn’t seem far fetched that he’d drop $9M on a car. “Fuk that 5 we need that shit,” he wrote.

Bella Thorne”s Directorial Debut Will Be An "Ethereal Film" On Pornhub

Disney darling Bella Thorne is trying her hand at directing. The author-model-actress-singer was a fan favorite on the Disney Channel’s Shake It Up series as CeCe Jones, but since leaving Mickey Mouse and Co. behind, the 21-year-old has been quite the figure in the tabloids. There was the scandal about her leaked nude photos, her public breakup from musician Mod Sun with whom she had a polyamorous relationship, and the most recent announcement that she’s pansexual. It’s all fairly tame, but Thorne has been regarded as a Disney princess gone wild.

On Tuesday, Thorne shook up the headlines once again when it came to light that her debut as a director would come in the form a pornographic film on Pornhub. She spoke with the New York Post about her movie titled Her & Him, sharing that she initially wanted to do something in the Christmas horror genre “but instead I made a beautiful, ethereal film.”

Thorne said the movie is about “this relationship between a male and a female and this fight over dominance.” Corey Price, Pornhub’s Vice President, described the film as a “modernistic, sexually explicit Romeo and Juliet-like depiction two star-crossed lovers who have unbridled sexual longing for each other.”

“The process shooting was quite interesting because we had real-life f–king on set which I had never shot before at all,” Thorne added. “It is quite a fun environment.” Thorne isn’t the only famous name behind a porn camera. Last year, rapper Young M.A directed a lesbian flick for Pornhub, as well.

Kyle Kuzma Reacts To Lakers Schedule Reveal With Christmas Spirit

NBA fans were incredibly happy today as the full schedule for the 2019-2020 season was ficially unveiled. There had been some leaks over the past couple weeks, including some news on which teams would be playing on opening night as well as Christmas Day. One the biggest matchups that were being anticipated was the Christmas Day game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. Of course, said matchup was finally confirmed and fans are extremely excited about it.

Lakers star Kyle Kuzma is one the people excited about the match as he took to Twitter to voice his pleasure at the news, as well as post a festive gif himself. “We’re taking on the Clips at home, nothing like playing on #NBAXmas!” Kuzma wrote.

The Lakers and Clippers are headlined by two pairs dynamic duos. For instance, the Lakers have LeBron James and Anthony Davis, while the Clippers have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Both teams are expected to compete for championships this season which means these matchups could be a precursor to what’s to come in the playfs.

Either way, we share Kuzma’s sentiments as these will certainly be some great games.

Kodak Black Apologizes to Yung Miami for Threatening to Hit Her

Kodak Black is showing remorse after he threatened violence against Yung Miami.

The “ZEZE” rapper, who is in jail on weapons charges, rapped about punching the pregnant City Girls rapper in the stomach on a recent freestyle that he recorded in jail.

“I bought Yung Miami a ring, she wanted 808’s baby,” he rapped in the clip, which he shared on Instagram. “When I see her I’ma hit that bitch in her stomach / The way I keep this shit too real / They say I’m fuckin’ up my money.”

Now Kodak is backing off his “petty” remarks. Taking to Twitter on Saturday (Aug. 10), he issued an apology of sorts. “#YungMiami Gimmicks Are For Suckas, As I Sit Back I Realize How Petty That Move Was And As A Man It’s Certain Things We Refrain From,” he tweeted.

He also apologized to the father of Miami’s unborn child, Southside of production duo 808 Mafia. “@sizzle808MAFIA Ain’t No Smoke Wit You Bra Fuck That Lame Shit I Pray Y’all Have A Healthy Baby And Live A Prosperous Life,” he said, adding, “Besides Bitch We Got More Hits To Make.”

Yung Miami, who announced her pregnancy in June, starred in Kodak’s video for “Christmas in Miami,” during which he proposed to her with a Ring Pop.

Following Kodak’s violent freestyle, her boyfriend Southside fired back on Instagram Stories. “Somebody tell Kodak suck a dick,” wrote the Atlanta beatmaker. “How ’bout that? And get up out of jail first, pussy.”

Yung Miami also weighed in. After a commenter dissed her and Southside on Instagram (“Kodak dusted u lil mama now this 808 ni**a big mad”), she responded, “Poor ass ni**a Kodak ain’t dust shit!”

Kodak remains behind bars after being arrested on weapons charges for allegedly making false statements on gun applications. He was denied bond and will remain in a Florida jail cell at least until September when his trial gets underway.

Last week, Yung Miami was targeted during a drive-by shooting in Miami. The pregnant rapper was riding in her Mercedes G-Wagon when shots were fired at the vehicle, but she was not hit.

"Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker" Possible Runtime Revealed

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker will put an end to the decades-long saga surrounding the most popular space family. The Skywalkers have been tormenting the galaxy ever since the 70s, but their reign will soon come to an end. JJ Abrams will direct the final installment before Disney decides to expand on the galaxy far far away. Rise Of Skywalker is set to debut around Christmas, but fans have little information on the film. The first trailer gave fans a glimpse at where the story may be heading, but the only thing we know for sure is the deceased emperor Palpatine will be making a comeback.

As reported by Comicbook.comAcademy Scoring Arts hosted a “score study” the original Jurassic Park, one John Williams’ iconic film scores. During the event, Williams’ brother, Don Williams, who was a performer on the original Jurassic Park score, spoke about John’s current project, Star Wars: The Rise Skywalker. During the discussion, Don revealed that his brother has “135 minutes worth music to write, so that kind tells how long the film is.” If what Don is saying holds true, the final film in the Skywalker saga will play for just over 2 hours, although that can change at any moment during editing.

Instagram Gallery: Conor McGregor’s Most Savage Posts

While the practice celebrities sharing the spoils their bottomless bank accounts on social media is far from a new phenomenon, Conor McGregor‘s penchant for separating the “haves from the have-nots” is in a category unto itself. As one the top fighters in the dog-eat-dog UFC circuit, McGregor doesn’t save his unflinching confidence for The Octagon – instead, his unflinching self-praise is seen in nearly every upload in his social media feed. As quick as McGregor is to build up the hours he spends in the gym and the steel-like mental fortitude he possesses, the Dublin-bred fighter is just as trigger-happy when it comes to shutting down his detractors. Cocky, brazen and more than self-assured, nothing is f-limits when it comes to McGregor dragging his opposition.

“Trash-talking] gives me energy,” says McGregor. “And it can get to them. So when I fought Mendes I would be saying into his ear, ‘You’re hitting like a bitch, you’re hitting like a woman,’ and then when I can feel he is lacking a bit energy, I stand there and say ‘You’re tired already, one minute in, you’re fcuked.’ And if it’s true, it hurts.”

From Floyd Mayweather to 50 Cent, no one is safe from McGregor’s public attacks and his unwavering desire to make himself seem untouchable. For the ultimate roundup McGregor’s most savage Instagram uploads, check out the gallery below.

Packing More Than A Punch

McGregor clearly wants to put the old rumor that his cocky attitude is little more than compensation for what’s in his pants to bed. To prove this, he’s more than comfortable uploading a picture showcasing his package while also referencing it in the image’s caption. Eggplant, anyone?

Ouch

“Is that a tracksuit or a sauna suit Floyd haha wtf. is it hot in Tokyo or what’s the story here? that climate change is no joke fuck me hahah
What in the fuck is going on here? Who’s this little prick next to you? That’s mad shit. Like something out rush hour 5 or something. Chris tucker and Jackie fucking Chan back in this bitch,” writes McGregor, taking aim at his longtime foe, Mayweather.

Trolling The Troll

Knowing 50 Cent’s penchant for social media drag sessions, few would be confident enough to tell the rapper publicly that he needs to wear a bra.

Boo

Here’s McGregor’s not-so-subtle reminder that he’s not above behind-the-back blows.

Merry Christmas

McGregor’s Christmas presents come in the form several perfectly placed punches.

Caption This

McGregor isn’t above sinking this low even when referencing a fight he lost.

Where’s The Ref

There’s winning a fight, and then there’s humiliating your opponent. McGregor likes to do both.

Shin Bone To The Cheek Bone

A fair loss? Nah – instead, McGregor opts to blame the ref and the ruleset.

Break You

“I must break you,” writes McGregor, assured by his own personal creed.

Don’t Be Bitching

McGregor only has one thing to say to Paulie Malignaggi, – “Don’t be a bitch, bitching.”

LeBron James To Organize Lakers Minicamp In Las Vegas: Report

After a busy free agency period, the Los Angeles Lakers are almost a whole new team and will be looking to build chemistry heading into the season. On paper, the Lakers could be one the best teams in the league and are even seen as contenders for the championship. LeBron James knows better than anyone just how important it is to build chemistry and he wants to make sure his team is ready to go once the season ficially starts in October. Training camp begins in September and for LeBron, that’s too long a wait to get the team together.

According to Shams Charania Stadium, LeBron is planning to hold a minicamp for the Lakers which will actually take place in Las Vegas. This will allow the Lakers to develop some chemistry prior to training camp and could even give them an edge once the season starts.

LeBron has yet to play with Anthony Davis who is his new dynamic duo partner. Last season, LeBron didn’t really have a partner in crime but this season, the tables have turned and it seems as though he’s ready to maximize their potential.

The Lakers will certainly be one the biggest stories in the league this season so it will be interesting to see if they can live up to the hype or will be outshined by the Los Angeles Clippers.

Hip Hop Album Sales: NF’s "The Search" Blocks Chance The Rapper From No. 1 Billboard 200 Spot

Christian-leaning rapper NF soared above the competition with his new album The Search, landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for the week ending August 1.

The project narrowly surpassed Chance The Rapper’s debut album The Big Day, which settled at No. 2.

Elsewhere on the chart, Young Dolph and Key Glock’s joint effort Dum & Dummer landed in the Top 10, while YBN Cordae’s The Lost Boy made its debut in the Top 15.

Meanwhile, Comethazine’s Bawskee 3.5 barely missed a Top 50 debut at No. 53, while E-40’s Practice Makes Paper hobbled onto the chart at No. 65 with 10,277 total album equivalent units, 3,627 pure album sales and a streaming count of 8,041,348.

His recent video for “Leave Me Alone,” which was released on July 25, has already racked up over 9 million views.

NF’s 2017 effort, Perception, also hit the chart at No. 1 upon its release with roughly 55,000 total album equivalent units sold in its initial week.

Aside from a collaborative mixtape with Jeremih called Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama, Chance hasn’t released a proper project since 2016’s Grammy Award-winning mixtape Coloring Book. That effort debuted at No. 8 on the chart based on 57.3 million streams, marking the first time a project had charted with streams only.

Chance is embarking on a 35-date tour in support of the album, which is expected to kick off in September.
