News broke out last week that Gabrielle Union lost her job at America’s Got Talent after reporting Jay Leno for making a racist joke. Union’s complaint did not lead to any sort punishment against Leno, but rather, left her jobless. Most people have been outraged over the incident and Dwyane Wade shared his public support for her right after the news broke out.
Waka Flocka is also in support Union for her decision to stand up against discrimination but he believes that people should be boycotting NBC for their actions. NBC allegedly made comments about Gabrielle Union’s hair, physical appearance, and clothing choices on the show and Waka believes that she was in the right for not changing herself to appeal to the executives. “That’s our people. That’s who we are. They want you to change who you are, that’s up to you to change. It’s not up to you to complain. Don’t change, keep it movin’. Expose it, keep it movin’,” he said. “If you want change, you gotta bite bullets.”
Waka went on to applaud her for her selflessness in order to stand up against discrimination. “It should be your job to stand for what you stand for,” Waka said after he was asked if Union had a job to educate the ignorant. “People will let you know how they feel about you through their] actions]. And that action they took right there is obvious is fuck.”

Gabrielle Union and NBC met for five hours today to discuss her from America’s Got Talent, which Union described as “productive.”
In a Twitter post after the meeting Union wrote, “We had a lengthy 5-hour, and what I thought to be, productive meeting. I was able to, again, express my unfiltered truth. I led with transparency and my desire and hope for real change.”
NBC also issued a statement in regards to the meeting with Union, in which they largely echoed her sentiments. They said, “The initial conversation was candid and productive. While there will be a further investigation to get a deeper understanding of the facts, we are working with Gabrielle to come to a positive resolution.”
On November 22, it was announced that neither Union nor actress Julianne Hough would be coming back for what will be the show’s 15th season. But it was not until Thanksgiving weekend that their dismissal became controversial, when it was reported that the women’s firing was related to a toxic working atmosphere on the show.
Since then, many have come out in support of Union. First, SAG-AFTRA that they were launching an official investigation of the matter.
Now, others are coming out in support of Union.
Both Howard Stern and Sharon Osbourne, who were once judges on the show, have spoken out against what they termed a “boy’s club” atmosphere that exists on the show, which they blamed on executive producer Simon Cowell.
Tina Tchen, who is the president and CEO of Time’s Up — which is an organization formed in conjunction with the #MeToo movement — has also come to Union’s defense. She said, “Not only did Union reportedly endure and witness racist and inappropriate behavior — including racially-insensitive comments and excessive criticism about her physical appearance — but it also appears she was punished for speaking out.”
Tchen further issued a petition that urges NBC “to take Union’s allegations seriously.”
Howard Stern has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding America’s Got Talent for their recent firing judge Gabrielle Union. After Union was allegedly fired for trying to report a racist joke that Jay Leno had said in a segment on their show, as well as for wearing hairstyles that were “too black” for the show’s audience, Stern accused Simon Cowell, who created the America’s Got Talent franchise, “orchestrating” the whole ordeal both Union and fellow judge Julianne Hough getting released from their contracts.

“He sets it up that the men stay, no matter how ugly they are, no matter how old they are, no matter how fat they are, no matter how talentless they are,” Stern said on his radio show, The Howard Stern Show. He also said that it’s “obvious” that the show continuously swaps out female judges much more ten than make judges and replaces them with “hotter chicks and younger chicks.” As a former judge himself from 2012-2015, Stern seems to be fering up his own insight from experience, insinuating that the show, and Simon Cowell specifically, used Union’s issue with Leno’s racist joke and her hairstyle choices as reasons to fire her, so that they could get away with replacing her with someone “younger” and “hotter.”

NBC and Fremantle productions have responded to the controversy, saying in a statement: “‘America’s Got Talent’ has a long history inclusivity and diversity in both our talent and the acts championed by the show. The judging and host lineup has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one the reasons for ‘AGT’s enduring popularity. NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously.” Fremantle and Cowell’s company, Syco, released another statement saying: “We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture. We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate.”
In reaction to all the generated by the firing of Gabrielle Union from America’s Got Talent, SAG-AFTRA is now investigating the show.
Union was fired after a single season on the show, which was its 14th, and some believe that it had something to do with complaints that she made about an alleged toxic working atmosphere on the show. This centered around a joke that Jay Leno told during an appearance that Union and others felt was racist as well as similar incidents. There were also complaints relating to a preoccupation many on the show had in regards to Union’s physical appearance.
Actress Julianne Hough, who also complained about the working atmosphere on the show, was fired, too.
The union issued a statement in conjunction with the probe. They said, “We take issues of workplace health and safety very seriously. While we have taken steps to investigate this matter, we have nothing to report now.”
Sources inside the union have told Deadline that, while they plan to meticulously investigate the charges made against the show, they also plan on doing so in a timely manner due to the gravity of the situation.
NBC also issued a statement in regards to the controversy, though not in regards to the investigation itself.
The network said, “We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture. We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate.”
The statement seems to imply that NBC is or will be conducting their own investigation into the matter.
At the same time, they said, in reaction to SAG-AFTRA’s investigation, that they have nothing further to add “beyond the statement we sent this morning.”
Gabrielle Union is no longer a judge on NBC’s America’s Got Talent. While the network says the move was due to a simple choice wanting to refresh the judges every season, it’s been made clear that the decision was made after Gabrielle had a meeting with HR about a racist joke guest judge Jay Leno made. As the story goes, during a taping Jay referenced an image he saw Simon Cowell with his dogs and said it looked like something one would find “on the menu at a Korean restaurant.”

Gabrielle told HR that they need to understand why such a comment is inappropriate not only for the viewers watching the show but all the Asian staffers on set. By no surprise, the clip was cut from the final airing the show. While Gabrielle has declined to comment on the situation, her husband Dwyane Wade has sent out a couple tweets defending his wife.
“Men lie, Women lie, numbers don’t” Over this past year I’ve been approached by many people saying that my wife @itsgabrielleu is the main reason they’ve started watching #AGT or that they love her insight and sincerity on the show,” he wrote, adding in another tweet, “As proud as i were her being selected as a judge on #AGT— I am even more proud her standing up for what she stands for and that’s US.”
Days after Dwyane Wade stood up for his wife Gabrielle Union and issued a statement after her firing from America’s Got Talent, the NBA player is now taking a stand once again this time for his 12-year-old son, Zion. Gabrielle recently posted a family photo herself, Zion, Dwyane and daughter Kaa to Instagram and unfortunately a bunch negative comments were posted, targeted towards young Zion and his painted nails.

Dwyane has previously expressed how important it was for him to attend Miami Pride with his son as a way for him to do his fatherly duty and support his children and things haven’t changed when it comes to allowing his children to express their authentic selves.
“I’ve seen some post-thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo. Stupidity is apart this world we live in—so I get it. But here’s the thing—I’ve been chosen to lead my family not y’all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile!” he wrote on Twitter.
“I’m very uneasy about accolades that come from supporting my kids or the negativity that comes from it. I’m doing what every parent has to do,” Dwyane previously added. “Once you bring kids into this world, you become unselfish. It’s my job to be their role model, to be their voice in my kids’ lives, to let them know you can conquer the world. So, go and be your amazing self and we’re going to sit back and just love you.”
It is being reported that the producers of America’s Got Talent (AGT) decided not to renew the contract of judge Gabrielle Union after she and fellow judge Julianne Hough complained about what they considered to be a toxic culture at the show.
The kerfuffle seems to be centered around a guest appearance on the show by comic legend Jay Leno. During this appearance, Leno allegedly made a joke about a painting in the building that many people working there, including Union and Hough, found offensive.
The painting in question depicted Simon Crowell, who is not only a judge on the show but also its executive producer, surrounded by dogs that he owns. Leno joked that the dogs looked like they belonged “on the menu at a Korean restaurant.”
While the joke was eventually cut from the show, the staffers were still upset, because they thought that it perpetuated long-running stereotypes about Asians eating dogs. They found the joke especially upsetting because they felt that the show has employed too few Asians.
Union, who was hired at the start of what is the show’s 14th season, reportedly urged producers to complain about the joke to NBC’s human resources department.
Sources working on the show have further alleged that there were other examples of what they considered a toxic culture during this particular season. This included an incident when a white contestant sang a Beyoncé song with black hands, which led Union to ask producers to remove the contestant from the show.
At the end of the season, neither Union or Hough were renewed despite their contracts being renewable. Some think that this is directly attributable to the two having complained.
The show, though, disputes this. In a statement they said, “The judging and host line-up has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one of the reasons for AGT’s enduring popularity. NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously.”
Yesterday it was reported that Gabrielle Union’s contract as a judge on America’s Got Talent was not renewed because she reported a racist remark made by Jay Leno to NBC’s HR. As the story goes, Jay apparently saw an image Simon Cowell and his many dogs and said on camera that it looks like something one would find “on the menu at a Korean restaurant.”

After Gabrielle told NBC why such a statement is not okay, she was no longer promised a spot on the show. The network said in a statement that they do take such situations seriously and Gabrielle no longer being on the show was an effect them wanting to have the panel judges “regularly refreshed.”
Gabrielle’s husband Dwyane Wade shared a statement on his wife, detailing how proud he is her and now the Being Maryjane actress has followed up with some words her own. “So many tears, so much gratitude. THANK YOU! Just when you feel lost, adrift, alone… you got me up f the ground. Humbled and thankful, forever ❤” she wrote on Twitter.
“As proud as I were her being selected as a judge on #AGT— I am even more proud her standing up for what she stands for and that’s US,” Dwyane wrote.
Gabrielle Union was probably one the few reasons that America’s Got Talent viewers watched the show. Unfortunately, she won’t be on the show anymore as she was fired from the show. Union reported Jay Leno to executives after he made a racist joke on set which is just an instance the “toxic culture” on set. Although NBC hasn’t admitted to it, Dwyane Wade has chimed in to back up his wife.

Wade hit Twitter to publicly defend his wife after he received news that she was fired. He started f by revealing that he’s yet to get an actual explanation for Union being fired from the show. However, he did share praise for standing up for what she believes in. “If anyone knows Gabrielle Union or have heard her you know she’s an advocate for the community and culture,” he said. “As proud as i were her being selected as a judge on #AGT— I am even more proud her standing up for what she stands for and that’s US.”
He added, “Cheers] to you @itsgabrielleu on not losing sight the lessons we’ve talked about teaching our daughter and for kicking ass while you were on that platform. Number 1 judge on one the biggest shows in the world”
Union has yet to comment on the situation.
Gabrielle Union is no longer a judge on America’s Got Talent, the series that looks to find talented performers, musicians and more with a panel judges calling the shots. While some may have believed that Gabrielle’s departure was self-inflicted, a new report from Variety says it was after she reported a racist joke said by guest judge, Jay Leno.

According to the publication, when Jay made a visit to the North Hollywood set he came across a photo another judge and executive producer, Simon Cowell, seated with his dogs around him. Jay reportedly made a joke that said the photo looked like something one would find “on the menu at a Korean restaurant.” Jay said the line on camera and it was later cut from the show’s airing.
Gabrielle reported the joke to human resources at NBC, telling them they need to understand why the joke is not funny and rather fensive to many the staffers and any Asian individual that would be watching at home. Employees the show further told the publication that the latter incident was one many on set since the show had a toxic culture. It was after Gabrielle’s report to HR that her contract was not renewed.
“‘America’s Got Talent’ has a long history inclusivity and diversity in both our talent and the acts championed by the show,” NBC and series producer Fremantle said in a joint statement. “The judging and host line-up has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one the reasons for AGT’s enduring popularity. NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously.”
Gabrielle has declined to comment.

Bronny James Jr is probably one the biggest names in high school basketball right now and for good reason. He is the son LeBron James and is playing for Sierra Canyon with Zaire Wade who is the son Dwyane Wade. As you can imagine, Sierra Canyon’s games have plenty star power in the crowd. During the first week the team’s season, they were without LeBron in the crowd because his busy schedule with the Los Angeles Lakers.
LeBron was feeling a little down about not being able to see his son play but was feeling much better when he got to see the outpouring support from Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade, who were front and center for the action. LeBron even took to Instagram to thank them for their cheers.
“My brother and sister holding me down while I’m on the road! This means so much to me, you guys have no idea!!” LeBron wrote. “This photo is surreal/crazy but a pure indication why we been telling y’all this whole time it’s #BiggerThanBasketball. This is #FamilyBusiness to the fullest.”
As the season goes on and LeBron gets more breaks, we’re sure he’ll be a mainstay in the stands at Sierra Canyon. It makes us imagine what it must be like to be a player on that team.
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union made the trip to Lincoln, Nebraska this past weekend for the Cornhuskers game against Ohio State, and although the result on the field wasn’t what they were hoping for, the couple still picked up a W during the tailgate.
Prior to Nebraska’s embarrassing 48-7 loss, the Wades took part in some flip cup along with Channing Frye and other Nebraska supporters. According to Wade, things were looking grim early on, but his team came from behind in epic fashion to win 3-2.
“While in college i didn’t drink so i was never apart the “college fun” but yesterday we won in flip cup 3-2 after being down 0-2 and it felt like 06’ all over again #Flipcupchampions2019″
The D-Wade x Gabby Union flip cup world tour is now f an running. Check out the footage below.
Wade played his college ball at Marquette but Union was born in Omaha, Nebraska and has been a Cornhuskers fan since birth. Naturally, D-Wade is now a fan by association.
The team fell to 3-2 on the year as a result their loss on Sunday, while the fourth-ranked Buckeyes’ improved to 5-0 as they prepare for a home game against No. 25 Michigan State this weekend.
If you haven’t seen the 2000 cult-classic film, Bring It On, you should do so expeditiously. In the film, Gabrielle Union plays the tenacious captain the East Compton Clovers cheerleading squad. Union continues to be admired for that iconic role, so anytime she references it, the Internet will surely erupt with its easily-triggered nostalgia.
This was the case when Union posted, on Instagram, a slideshow her daughter, Kaa James, dressed as her mama did in the movie. Rather than having “Clovers” written across the chest, Kaa’s mini cheerleader uniform says “Runza”, as it was a gift from the Nebraskan restaurant chain to welcome Union back to her hometown. This trip marked Kaa’s first visit to Nebraska and based on the photos, she looked very happy to be there. This week, Kirsten Dunst, who starred alongside Union in Bring It On, said she’d be interested in doing a sequel. So perhaps Union will dust f her Clovers uniform and match with her daughter if this movie ever comes to fruition (which it most likely won’t).
Not only did Union post these adorable pics on her own account, but also on Kaa’s. Yes, the 10-month old has her own Instagram page, “run by my ‘rents”, as indicated in her bio. Kaa James is the first child Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade, who was conceived surrogate after the couple experienced fertility troubles.
Gabrielle Union has secured the title ‘body goals’ for some time and her fitness and hot looking ways are seemingly never-ending. After previously showcasing her fit ways on a Greece vacation with husband Dwayne Wade earlier in the year, the 46-year-old has now returned with a black and white share to her Instagram feed that sees her in a two-piece bikini.
The Bad Boys 2 actress hilariously captioned the image with, “Looking for fux to give 🤷🏾♀️😒🤗.”
“I’ve always been in shape, but I try not to be obsessive about it, I’d rather just be healthy. Filming on high-definition will make you a fitness fanatic because you can see literally every little thing on your body. Whether it’s bra fat, an armpit bulge, or all those other things that in real life aren’t that bad … on high-definition you’re horrified,” Gabrielle previously stated when discussing her motivation behind fitness.
“In the past I have said things like “I want that high-cut in my thigh” or “I want six-pack abs.” But it’s more about using my whole body to just tighten everything. I’m focusing on just not letting it fall, not my ass, not my arms—nothing!”
Keep doing you, Gabrielle.
The Wades have been vocal about their support the LGBTQIA+ community. In April, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union cheered on Wade’s 11-year-old son Zion when he attended the Pride Festival in Miami. Their decision was met with criticisms, but Gabrielle told Us Weekly that it was normal for her. “My mom took me to my first pride at eight-years-old,” she said at the time. “We moved to San Francisco, and it’s kind part being a global citizen.”
On Friday, Gabrielle shared on her Instagram that the Wades have continued their support but designing and selling t-shirts. “As a family, we believe inclusion and equality are two essential pillars needed to move towards growth and progressive thinking and action in our society,” she wrote in the caption. “We have created a Limited Edition T shirt to help create a more inclusive space with our platform.”
She also wrote that they would “donate $50k and 50% the proceeds sales the Pride shirts to The GLSEN organization whose mission strives to ensure safe schools for all students, regardless sexual orientation as well as gender identity. For 25 years GLSEN has been the leading national organization focused on ensuring safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ+ students.” Over on his page, Dwyane echoed his wife’s sentiments and shared the hashtag “#wesupporteachotherwithpride.”
