Ah yes, the inevitable flurry hype following a DJ Khaled summer single. We’ve seen it before last year, when “I’m The One” bounced onto the scene with a triumphant proclamation self-worth. A far cry from some Khaled’s earlier work, which generally tended to combine the likes Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Drake for, at the very least, somewhat street-friendly bangers. Yet something has changed; perhaps fatherhood truly stened the mogul. Now, instead “We Takin’ Over,” we’re being served pop music disguised as milquetoast hip-hop. And that’s okay. It simply is what it is, and a certain sect listener will probably walk the other way.
By all means, let Khaled secure his bag. The man works hard, and has won the hearts many prominent figures. Don’t get it twisted; he’s given us plenty memorable material over this course his successful career. But is his name too solid to waver, or is the man susceptible to a flop? Those looking for something different from last year’s “I’m The One” will find no solace here. But for those simply looking for something mindless to bop to, “No Brainer” could be a worthwhile remedy.
What do the fans think? Did Khaled fall back on his old bag tricks, or is this one fresh enough to make a lasting impression?
DJ Khaled has been teasing his new project, The Father Of Asahd for a minute at this point and it looks like he’s finally getting ready to launch the album’s campaign. Last year, he took over the airwaves with his massive single, “I’m The One” featuring Lil Wayne, Chance The Rapper, Justin Bieber and Quavo. Now, it looks like he’s trying to recreate last summer’s magic with his upcoming single, “No Brainer.”
DJ Khaled is bringing the dream team together for “another one” this Friday with his upcoming single, “No Brainer” featuring Chance The Rapper, Quavo and Justin Bieber. Khaled announced the single on Instagram earlier today with a short clip sharing the July 27th release date. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any short snippets the song or the visual on the Instagram post.
Last month, DJ Khaled revealed that he was shooting a music video along with Chance The Rapper, Justin Bieber and Quavo but didn’t give any indication as to when we could expect the song to drop.
“No Brainer” will presumably serve as the second single f The Father Of Asahd. Earlier in the year, Khaled teased the project with the song “Top Off” featuring Future, Beyonce and Jay-Z.
At this point, it’s unsure who else we could expect on his forthcoming project. However, Big Sean has been spotted alongside DJ Khaled and Asahd in the studio recently so there’s a high chance we could expect him on the album’s tracklist.
