Caitlyn Jenner Admits That She Wants To Play A Marvel Movie Villain

Caitlyn Jenner recently sat down with Variety to discuss transgender equality in America, and she revealed that she would like to play a Marvel movie villain. “In a Marvel movie, I want to play the baddest-ass lady you’ve ever seen in your life,” Jenner stated. “They got the wicked queen or the wicked lady. Just do the makeup and the outfit. And I got the deep voice.” It would be the first time a transgendered actor would play the main role in a Marvel film.

Although equality and proper representation in film seems to be high on Disney’s agenda at the moment, it is doubtful Jenner will get her wish. Disney has placed powerful women at the head their Star Wars movies, such as Rey in the ongoing main saga, and Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. They have also worked with Marvel to bring the world several African-American characters like Black Panther, Falcon, and War Machine. Next year’s Captain Marvel will focus on their first female solo hero lead (although The Wasp did almost all the ass kicking in Ant-Man and The Wasp). From the eyes an outsider, it may seem like Disney is just rushing to include women and ethnic characters for the sake marketing, but many, if not all, these heroes are rooted in comic history that is decades old. Although Disney and Marvel may play with character’s ethnicity or sex in certain situations (Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie or Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost), just throwing in a transgender character for appeal or acceptance doesn’t fit in their agenda. It is possible that in the future, a new character can be created for the role, but only time will tell.

Big Freedia says she had to initiate contact with Drake in order to gain clearance. She told TMZ that Drake didn’t apologize with words, but through his action (inclusion in “In My Feelings”). Despite this, Ne-Yo said that hip hop needs to make a better effort in embracing the LGBTQ community.

TMZ recently ran into Ne-Yo at LAX. The singer was asked about the controversy surrounding Travis Scott’s Astroworld cover earlier this week. He said that if hip hop isn’t embracing the LGBTQ community, it’s the only genre in the music industry not doing so.

“If rap is not embracing the LGBTQ community], that’s the only people not embracing them,” he said. “I mean, they’re here. They’re not going anywhere. They’re people just like us. I feel like they deserve the same respect so yeah, I feel like it’s definitely about time.”

Overall, Ne-Yo believes that right now is a better time than any to more openly welcome the LGBTQ community into hip hop.

For some odd reason, pride-goers not associated with either party decided to enter the fray, until it reached the proportions a royal rumble. Navdeep Thind, a local student who documented the action, described the incident as such: ‘It got kind brutal.
