Llyod has released his first independent record. He recently reflected on the journey that brought him to this point in an interview with Madame Noire.

During this discussion, he dished about his decision to chop f all his hair. This was significant for him considering how he believed his long locks defined him at the time.

He compares his cutting his hair to that the Buddhist monks who value the concept non-attachment. Anything that does not contribute to spiritual fulfillment is shed purposefully.

Lloyd Releases "Tru" Album Tracklist, Featuring Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, & More

Lloyd has been f the map for quite some time. The R&B crooner was M.I.A. until he dropped f “Caramel,” the first single f his long-awaited Tru LP, last month. The easy riding single was received warmly, but it was Lloyd’s naked album cover that had fans talking. Lloyd opted to bare it all on the cover his Tru EP a few years back, so it makes sense that he stuck with the same idea for the full-length album.

Lloyd took to Instagram on Tuesday (Aug. 21), to reveal the tracklist for his upcoming album. “Dear God, With a considerable amount consideration for myself, my loved ones, each person in this beautiful world, and this Amazing gift music and song that you have given to me, I fer this collection my most thoughtful and love-inspired music my humbling life,” wrote the singer on the post. “As I walk the path humility, and may you open up the hearts, eyes, and ears others who have yet to embrace your love as you have done with me. I am so thankful.”

Twitter Reacts To Lloyd's Naked Photo For "Tru" LP Cover

2016 marked Lloyd’s ficial return when the crooner came through with his honest “Tru” single and accompanying EP the same name. At the time, it was Lloyd in his purest form as the singer came f a five-year hiatus and ushered in a new era transparency in his artistry. Likewise, the Tru EP cover art was nothing more than a naked Lloyd perched atop a small waterfall. In the photo, his sitting position made sure that anything explicit was covered up and fered a symbolic representation his open approach. Now, two years later, the southern singer has announced the arrival a follow-up in the form a Tru LP, scheduled for later on in the summer.

With the announcement, EMPIRE has unveiled the artwork attached to the project, and this time around, Lloyd has taken things up a notch. Keeping things tune with the elements nudity, mother nature, and all that good stuff, the Tru LP artwork features a photo Lloyd standing up this time with a guitar strategically placed against his bottom half, and the Internet isn’t quite sure how to feel about it.

Back in 2016 when discussing the idea the artwork for the EP, Lloyd expressed his concern with how receptive the general public would be.

“I hope people don’t see it and think that I’m trying to sell or degrade myself,” he explained. “I wanted to make it as tasteful as possible. Unfortunately, a naked body is seen as exploitative or nasty. I think that it’s beautiful, because that’s the way you come in. You can be with a person, even with your lover, and they want to turn the lights f and make love to you because they don’t want you to examine them under the microscope. People try to hide their flaws, but I think the flaws make them a beautiful person. And that’s what Tru is all about.”

Well, it seems that he’s moved well past those inhibitions. The Tru LP arrives on August 31st
