"Power Rangers" Sequel Film Has Started Early Development

Last year’s Power Rangers movie revived a franchise that had appeared to have faded away. 90’s babies can attest to the popularity  Power Rangers in their youth, but after several spin-f shows and a few movies, the futuristic ninja warriors wilted away into obscurity. When Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Banks signed on to play Zordon and Rita Repulsa, respectively, fans the series knew they were in for something special. The reboot film did well at the box fice, and gained positive reviews from critics.

Hasbro bought Saban this year, which changed the ownership and creative forces behind the Power Rangers franchise. In a recent report from licensing.org, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner revealed that revamping the Power Rangers, and getting a sequel to the 2017 film in theaters, are both priorities. Goldner believes the franchise has, “significant opportunity for growth given where the brand had been most recently.” He claims that Hasbro will work with a new movie studio to develop the next Power Rangers film.

The report also states that Hasbro has pushed a sixth Transformers film back at least two years, since the Bumblebee origin flick is dropping this holiday season. Transformers 6 was originally scheduled for a June 21, 2019 release.
