Vic Mensa Sticks It It To Chicago Cops With "Anti-Bait Truck"

The Chicago police set up what is being called a “bait truck” last week to lure people into getting arrested. The truck, full Nikes, was driven into a low-income neighbourhood where people tried to take the shoes. Who wouldn’t? The use a bait truck in Chicago is raising eyebrows, especially considering that there’s an obvious and acknowledged gun violence problem in the city. Many are wondering why the police are manufacturing more crime on purpose. Perhaps they’ve misunderstood the phrase “crime prevention.”

Vic Mensa and his SaveMoneySaveLife foundation are going to be giving away thousands shoes out what they call an “anti-bait truck.” Laundi Keepseagle, the executive director Vic’s foundation, said that “we wanted to do something in response, but have a positive response,” and “we don’t want to create conflict with the police, but we do want to take a step forward, and just showcase that acts like that aren’t acceptable in communities that we care for.”

Writer and activist Shaun King tweeted a video the original bait-truck, imploring everyone to donate shoes to the SaveMoney campaign:

Vic Mensa also took to Twitter to promote the event, the date which will be released as soon as they get all the shoes.

Chance The Rapper Announces New Song "Whats The Hook" Dropping Tonight

It looks like a new album from Chance The Rapper is coming very soon. In July, there were reports that the rapper would be releasing a new, surprise album which he unfortunately shut down the next day. However, he did bless us with four new songs, “I Might Need Security,” “Wala Cam,” “65th & Ingleside” and “Work Out.” Now, the rapper has announced that he’ll be blessing us with a new song later this evening.

Chance The Rapper has revealed that he’ll be releasing a new song titled, “What’s The Hook?” later this evening. The song is set to feature Reeseynem. Chance previewed both the song earlier this week but didn’t give any hint as to when we could expect it. “Lemme get a pass/ Get a, get a pass/ Young boy on his path/ Leave it runnin’ like the bath,” Chance raps on the track.

The song announcement comes shortly after he revealed that he’ll be headlining Brooklyn’s RapCar Live at Ford Amphitheater. The show will take place on September 29th with Sheck Wes, Tierra Whack and DJ SpinKing as the openers.

With the influx music he’s released a headlining show for RapCar, it feels like Chance The Rapper will have a new album for us before the end the year. Atleast we hope.

Vic Mensa Involved In Altercation With Chicago Police: Video

According to Vic Mensa’s Instagram, the Bud Biliken parade, which happened in Chicago yesterday, is the “largest black parade in America.” At this year’s procession Mr. Mensa was the Grand Marshall the parade, which celebrates kids returning to school. Unfortunately the Chicago PD had to spoil the fun by trying to arrest Vic Mensa as he led the parade on his motorcycle. According to Vic Mensa’s Instagram post, “Chicago Police Department threatened to arrest me & tow my bike because I had a group activists carrying a CONVICT JASON VAN DYKE banner.”

Jason Van Dyke is a Chicago police ficer who shot and killed Laquan McDonald in 2014. Video the incident, recorded on Van Dyke’s dash-cam and a Burger King surveillance camera, prompted multiple large protests when it was released.  Vic Mensa, however, is a-ok. He was eventually left to continue the parade and hold a backpack giveaway.

Vic revised his angle in another post, not long after the first, where he shifted the focus from the police hassle onto the 1000 backpack giveaway, this being a school year inauguration parade. He says, in the caption, that “we do this so we can teach the next gen to be more equipped to dig themselves out this hole they put us in & live with love power and self respect 💯”
