Lil Yachty On His Acting Career

Lil Yachty has followed in the footsteps many a hip-hop great with his debut acting role in Teen Titans Go!: Andre 3000, T.I., Mos Def, Ice Cube, Lil’ Bow Wow and now, Lil Yachty. Lil Boat’s character in the movie is the lil’ Green Lantern whose powers Yachty said, “I’m not too mad about the ring power, the ring can do anything, it makes winds if I need it to, I can make a teleportation port, pretty much anything he wants.”

On dipping his toe into acting, Lil Yachty said he is “definitely taking acting serious” and that he’s been trying to bridge the gap from music to movies for a while now: “I was telling my manager multiple times that I was wanting to get into the movies and he made it happen.” Specifically, he’d been interested in “the animated part the business.”

As much as he’s interested in acting, Yachty isn’t wasting this opportunity to get his music some more exposure. The theme song for the new movie is the classic Teen Titans theme song, but remixed with a couple verses from Lil Boat.

Yachty will be starring alongside comedians like Will Arnett and Jimmy Kimmel and the pop-star Halsey.

Lil Yachty Crafts A Superhero Costume & Freestyles With Kids

Ever since people were debating on Lil Yachty’s presence in the rap game a few years ago, the main argument has been that he simply makes music for teens and kids. With such a positive vibe and sound, his music can be described as “bubblegum,” instantly casting him as a joke rapper. However, with serious ability to spit bars when he wants, Lil Boat is a talent like no other. His versatility apparently knows no bounds either as he has recently proven himself to be an A-1 costume designer, allowing himself the option to fall back and become an arts & crafts specialist or a wardrobe stylist for superhero movies if ever his rap career down-spirals.

In a recent episode Arts & Raps, Yachty linked up with two kids to make their best superhero apparel in correlation with the artist’s appearance in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies releasing this week. Acting as “G Lant,” his rap name as Green Lantern, Boat laid down a freestyle with the help Zaria and Dilan. As they crafted their own superhero attire, the red-haired rapper told Dilan that he resembled a young Kenan Thompson while allowing Zaria to rock his chain for much the video. Clearly, Yachty is comfortable with children, laughing with them and generally just being a likable guy.

The “King the Teens” seems to have a great connection with children as evidenced by this clip. Lil Yachty will be acting in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, which releases July 27.

Lil Yachty Stars As Green Lantern In "Teen Titans Go" Movie Trailer

The King Of The Teens continues to do right by his loyal subjects. As we know, Boat was recently tapped to hold it down as Green Lantern in the upcoming Teen Titans Go movie, which also stars Will Arnett, James Corden, Halsey, Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell and more. With the animated, youth-friendly flick set to hit theaters on July 27th, Boat has already begun promoting his upcoming foray into the animated realm. The rapper threw up a teaser on the Gram, which briefly highlights Green Lantern. Briefly being the key word.

In the clip, Boat’s Green Lantern pokes fun at his cinematic predecessor, which starred Ryan Reynolds in the titular role. If you haven’t seen that one, don’t worry – you’re not alone. The 2011 movie was pretty much unanimously panned, and let’s just say that Reynolds was far better suited to play Deadpool. Granted, Lil Yachty’s take on the character is confined to a children’s movie, but perhaps his presence bodes well for a future live action adaptation. Only time will tell.

Check out the trailer below, especially if you’re a die-hard Lil Yachty fan. If so, you probably already know that the Lil Boat 2 rapper dropped f a collaboration with Bhad Bhabie called “Gucci Flip Flops.” Clearly, he’s looking to make an impression in 2018.
