On Thursday night, Kanye West served as a special guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he once again spoke about his support President Donald Trump, saying he didn’t like being “forced” to pick his candidate. “Just as a musician, African American, everyone around me tried to pick my candidate for me and then told me that I couldn’t say that I like Trump,” Kanye said to Kimmel. Ye also talked more in depth about our mindsets and being controlled by outside forces, among other things (see interview here).
Well course, Trump caught wind the interview on Friday and decided to give thanks to Ye on Twitter.
“Thank you to Kanye West and the fact that he is willing to tell the TRUTH. One new and great FACT – African American unemployment is the lowest ever recorded in the history our Country. So honored by this. Thank you Kanye for your support. It is making a big difference,” he wrote.
Back in 2016, following Trump’s inauguration, Kanye was spotted hanging out with the President at his hotel and even took a meeting with him, so to see their bond still going strong isn’t that surprising.
This tweet from Trump comes just days after he did the opposite to LeBron James and insulted his intelligence.

Kid Cudi was feeling sentimental on this very date, the 10 year mark debut A Kid Named Cudi, the tape that showed the world he was more than his “Crookers Remix.” To mark the occasion, Cudi gave thanks to key contributors, three in particular: Plain Pat, Emile and Dot Da Genius, but not before doing a curtsy for his day one fans.
Birds-eye view, Cudi thanked his fans for staying through his tumultuous journey. He then opened the floor to his band mates starting with Plain Pat, whom he described as a “big brother.” Cudi thanked Pat for supporting him back when he could barely afford to feed himself. Pat is otherwise credited as Cudi’s executive producer, as in “the eyes and ears the operation.”
Cudi held out his hand for Emile, a jack–all trades character that did a little bit everything on A Kid Named Cudi, fering a helter skelter mix engineering and general know how. It’s Emile whom Cudi credited with helping him identify his sound, especially from a steadfast position at his keyboard.
Last but no least, Cudi thanked Dot Da Genius the mastermind behind “Day ‘n’ Nite,” his breakout record. According to Cudi, Dot gave him a place to crash when he was damn near out options. Living under Dot’s ro allowed Cudi freedom expression rarely afforded to artists facing the demands capitalism.
Speaking which, Cudi thanked 10 Deep for sponsoring his early advances. The strategy helped their bottom line, but most importantly it helped convert consumers into real fans. If you recall, Hip Hop was experiencing a ReGenesis and very few expected the windfall to a emanate from a bedroom artist in Cleveland, Ohio.
Every time you blink, there’s another Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson movie in theaters. Although Johnson’s Rampage adaptation has barely left theaters, he’s back with Skyscraper. Drawing influence from Die Hard, Skyscraper is a thriller about a man who goes to great lengths to save his family. His wife and kids are trapped in a skyscraper that is under attack and burning down. To make things even more interesting, Johnson’s character in the film has a prosthetic leg.
Although Skyscraper missed the number one spot at the box-fice for its opening weekend (Hotel Transylvania 3 took the top spot because…kids), it earned the number two spot. Johnson’s latest film has grossed $24 million domestically since it was released late Thursday night. The wrestler turned actor took to social media to thank his fans for their support. “THANK YOU everyone for the SKYSCRAPER luv this past weekend,” he wrote as the caption for a video he posted to Twitter. “For the first time ever, in a summer blockbuster, the lead character is an amputee. Not a villain, but the hero. And for the first time in one my movies, the FEMALE LEAD is the one SAVING ME.” Well, he kind just spoiled the ending for me, but it’s good to see a female lead taking control.
2018 has been the year Drake consistently outdoing himself. It all started with “God’s Plan” spending weeks at Billboard’s top spot on the Hot 100. When “Nice For What” came around, he replaced himself at No. 1 with the new track. Finally, Scorpion released in June and there were bound to be some extra candidates for song the summer. As expected, Drizzy came through. “In My Feelings” is an absolute smash and with a viral dance craze to match, everybody is streaming the track, easily bringing it to number 1 in the rankings this week. However, if it weren’t for internet comedian Shiggy actually starring in the viral challenge video, the song may not have taken f as quickly as it did.
Paying his dues to the man who popularized the #InMyFeelingsChallenge, Drake partied alongside Shiggy last night, capturing a few moments on his Instagram story. With everyone and their mother attempting the dance, some would say that the craze died down after Will Smith literally climbed a bridge for the most extravagant edition yet. However, it’s still going strong and Drake recognizes that. Addressing his comment towards Shiggy, the Canadian superstar said, “Man got me a No. 1 record today,” clearly excited about his historic reign atop the Billboard chart.
With no clear end in sight for the 6ix God, Drake is cementing his legacy with every number 1 single he puts out. Hopefully, Shiggy is getting a check for his contributions.
It seems that Drake isn’t the only artist to have nabbed themselves some platinum plaques recently. Cardi B, who’s album Invasion Privacy was one the biggest releases the year, also earned a couple platinum certifications on her own, and took to Instagram to thank her fans for their assistance.
In the photo posted on her account, it claims that Cardi’s breakout single, “Bodak Yellow,” has ficially gone six times platinum. That’s not all, as some her other singles have also earned themselves platinum status as well. “Bartier Cardi,” which features 21 Savage, has gone double platinum and “I Like It,” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin, reached the million milestone to become Cardi’s third platinum song. Pretty impressive for an artist on her first studio album.
Cardi kept it brief in the caption the post, simply writing a “:’) Thank you everybody !❤️,” to show the fans her appreciation for their continued support.
Of course, Cardi is worried about much more than just music these days. Her secret marriage to Offset was recently revealed to the world, and the couple still has a baby on the way. Naturally, however, the two them are celebrating in style with a gorgeous “Bronx Fairy Tale” baby shower in preparation for the newborn.
Cardi B is continuing to have one the best 2018’s in the music industry, and it’s sure to only get better once she’s able to start touring once again. Although, her pregnancy doesn’t seem to have slowed her down so far.
