Mark Hamill Addresses Carrie Fisher Posthumous Appearance In "Star Wars IX"

Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia were brother and sister on screen, and the actors that played them became family in real life too. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher have been best friends since they embarked on the Star Wars journey together in the late 70’s. In the latest Star Wars trilogy, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker died, and Han Solo was killed f as well. Although Leia is the only remaining member the original trio who has survived the wrath Kylo Ren, Carrie Fisher passed away in 2016.

It was recently announced that Fisher would be featured in Star Wars IX, which is slated to hit theaters next year. Instead resurrecting her through CGI, like Lucasfilm has done in previous movies with other characters, the movie will use scenes that Fisher shot for The Force Awakens to make sure Leia is involved in the final chapter the Skywalker saga. Mark Hamill, who will be featured in Star Wars IX deptite being killed f in The Last Jedi, took to Twitter to reveal his feelings on filming without Fisher. “It’s bittersweet facing my final chapter without her-She is simply irreplaceable,” he wrote. “I’m finding solace in the fact that she won’t BE replaced & would love the worldwide outpouring affection from those who loved her when they heard the news.”

Billy Dee Williams Will Reprise Lando Calrissian Role In "Star Wars: Episode IX"

Donald Glover introduced Lando Calrissian to a new generation in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Although the Han Solo origin story did not perform well at the box fice and caused Lucasfilm to rethink their movie strategy, Glover did an amazing job in the film. Perhaps his acting made director JJ Abrams realize that Calrissian is an integral part Star Wars lore. He was missing in both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, but now that his best friend Han is dead, and Luke has perished as well, the Rebellion needs all the help it can get.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Billy Dee Williams will be returning to a galaxy far, far away. Williams, who played Lando in The Empire Strikes Back and Return the Jedi, is set to reprise his role as the smooth-talking general in Star Wars IX. He had a small role in Empire that placed him at odds with the heroes after he betrays Han and gets him placed in frozen carbonite. His role was stepped up a bit in the follow-up film, and Lando piloted the Millennium Falcon into the second Death Star, helping defeat the evil Empire. Star Wars IX is set to hit theaters on December 20, 2019.

Keri Russell In Talks For Role In "Star Wars IX"

Star Wars IX is just over a year away from hitting theaters, and that might seem like an eternity for some. In the movie production world, that means things need to start moving, and fast. The ninth sequential Star Wars film has landed back in the hands J.J. Abrams after Colin Trevorrow backed out because creative differences. Lucasfilm went back to Abrams, who crafted The Force Awakens, and revealed that he yearned to do more Star Wars films in the future. He has been slowly adding up the pieces for the film, and now it is being reported that a new warrior female role is being discussed with Keri Russell.

Keri Russell and Abrams have worked together before on Mission Impossible 3. According to Variety, Russell is in talks to play an undisclosed role in Star Wars IX that requires “action-heavy fight scenes.” With that in mind, it looks like Russell will be heading straight into battle. Since Disney took over the Star Wars franchise, they have brought several female characters into the series. Daisy Ridley’s Rey is the main character the sequential series, while the spin-f flick Rogue One places Jyn Erso in the heroine seat.
