Tua Tagovailoa Suffers Potential Season Ending Injury

Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa was airlifted to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Birmingham after suffering a hip injury during the second quarter this week’s game against Mississippi State.

Scrambling out the pocket, the 21-year-old NFL draft prospect was rocked just after he was able to get rid the ball. Tagovailoa was seen bleeding from his face and unable to lift himself from the ground.

Aaron Suttles The Athletic is reporting that Tagovailoa is out for the season with a dislocated hip with a posterior wall fracture.

“It’s kind a freak thing that you seldom see. He was good, at least as good as he was a week ago in terms his ability to move,” head coach Nick Saban said after the game, according to ESPN. “I don’t think anything he did affected his performance in the first half. So the guy played, and I thought he played really well. And we hate it that he got injured. We hate it for him. We hate it for his family. I hate it when any player on our team gets injured. So Godspeed to him and his entire family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and hope this is not so serious it has any long-term effect on his future as a player.”

Michael Jackson and His 'Simpsons' Episode Goes Missing from Disney+

An episode of The Simpsons that featured Michael Jackson has gone missing from Disney.

The episode in question came in 1991 — during the premiere of season 3 of the long-running animation series — which was a couple of years before child abuse allegations were first aired against Jackson. It was entitled “Stark Raving Mad,” and in it Jackson voiced the character of Leon Kompowsky, who was a mental institution patient who believed that he was Michael Jackson.

Even when the show originally aired it was not without legal problems. Because of contractual issues relating to the singer, he was never credited for his appearance in the show.

Disney is reportedly streaming all episodes from the first 30 seasons of The Simpsons apart from this one.

While Disney has so far not explained the absence of the episode from its nascent streaming service, many are understandably believing that it is part of the continuing fallout from the release of HBO’s controversial documentary Leaving Neverland, which detailed accusations from two men who claim that Jackson abused them when they were children.

It is quite possible that the removal of the episode had nothing directly to do with Disney, as the episode has also been removed from general circulation as well. This includes not only syndication and streaming services but also Blu-ray DVD box sets.

James L. Brooks, who is the executive producer of The Simpsons, told the Wall Street Journal that it was “the only choice to make” in response to Leaving Neverland. He went on to say, “The guys I work with – where we spend our lives arguing over jokes – were of one mind on this. This was a treasured episode. There are a lot of great memories we have wrapped up in that one, and this certainly doesn’t allow them to remain . . . I’m against book-burning of any kind. But this is our book, and we’re allowed to take out a chapter.”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge Explains Her Role In New Bond Film "No Time To Die"

Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge lent her talented hands to the newest installment in the Bond franchise, No Time To Die, and many fans have wondered exactly what it is that she could be helping with. Sitting down with BBC, Waller-Bridge explained how she assisted in the making the film.

“They were just looking for tweaks across a few the characters and a few the storylines,” Waller-Bridge said. She will be the second woman to earn a writing credit in the franchise. Bond writers wanted a woman’s perspective on the female characters in the film and to make sure everything was appropriate for today’s climate.

“They were already doing that themselves,” she explains. “They’re having that conversation with themselves the whole time. It was much more practical. Just, ‘You’re a writer, we need some help with these scenes. And you come up with some dialogue for these characters.'”

Daniel Craig claims it was his idea to bring her on board, but Waller-Bridge says producer Barbara Broccoli was the first to approach her.

“We met for cfee and then a few months later we met again. And then I met the director Cary Joji Fukunaga and then I met Daniel after that. But I know Daniel and Barbara had been talking about it for while,” explains Waller-Bridge.

No Time To Die releases on April 8th, 2020.

Live Nation Misses Q3 Earnings Estimates with an EPS of $0.71

On October 31, Live Nation reported its 3rd quarter financials, with its numbers disappointing many on Wall Street.

In the period ending September 30, the ticket seller and concert promoter recorded an earnings per share (EPS) of $0.71, which was more than 10% lower than the consensus estimate of $0.79. While its EPS was considerably higher than that of the 2nd quarter, when it posted an EPS of $0.41, that particular number represented a 5% increase over estimates.

Live Nation reported total revenues of $3.77 billion for the quarter, in comparison with $3.84 billion in the same period a year before. Earnings, though, rose, from $172.68 million in the 3rd quarter last year to $178.9 million this year.

What appears to have dragged down Live Nation’s numbers was concert revenue. Analysts expected the company to book concert revenue of $3.5 billion, but actual concert revenue was $3.17 billion, which was down from $3.3 billion in the same period of 2018.

There were many positive aspects to the company’s financial report as well. Year-to-date operating income increased 12% to $408 million while adjusted year-to-date operating income increased 13% to $862 million. The company has also sold 92 million concert tickets so far in 2019, which is 5 million more than what they sold a year ago at this time.

Additionally, year-to-date net sponsorship and advertising revenue climbed 14% and Ticketmaster fee-bearing gross transaction value rose 5% in the quarter, which is the company’s highest rise ever for a 3rd quarter.

The company further indicated that consumer demand is strong. Not only did amphitheater and arena concerts in September perform better than they did in the previous September, but online sales have continued to grow.

Since the start of 2019, the price of the company’s shares has risen 44.6%. This is especially impressive considering that, at the same time, the S&P 500 has risen 21.5%. Many believe that whether or not this will continue could largely depend on analysts’ impressions of the earnings call with management that happened just after the release of the financials.

Cloudflare Responds to RIAA Accusations — "Not In the Business of Hiding Companies"

Cloudflare objects to being categorized as a helper of pirates in the latest “Notorious Markets” complaint.

Copyright holder groups send the complaint to the U.S. Trade Representative every year. It calls out apps, piracy sites, and services that facilitate piracy across the globe. While Cloudflare isn’t on the list as a piracy provider, it is frequently mentioned.

Cloudflare is a content delivery network, which means it helps keep websites online under high traffic situations. It’s an extra layer of security for many sites against malicious attacks like DDoS attacks designed to take websites offline. But the MPA and don’t see it that way.

In their complaint, the two organizations write that Cloudflare helps pirates “hide” their hosting locations. The Digital Citizens Alliances says the company facilitates pirates delivering malware.

Cloudflare General Counsel Doug Kramer disputes these claims in a letter to the U.S. Trade Representative. Cloudflare says the report is of how the company operates.

“My colleagues and I were frustrated to find continued misrepresentations of our business and efforts to malign our services.

We again feel called on to clarify that Cloudflare does not host the referenced websites, cannot block websites, and is not in the business of hiding companies that host illegal content – all facts well known to the industry groups based on our ongoing work with them.”

On the claims that Cloudflare helps pirates distribute malware — Kramer writes:

“Our system uses the collective intelligence from all the properties on our network to support and immediately update our web application firewall, which can block malware at the edge and prevent it from reaching a site’s origin server. This protects the many content creators who use our services for their websites as well as the users of their websites, from malware.”

Cloudflare argues that complaints from the DCA about malware are out of date.

The company admits it can’t stop all bad actors online, but continues to work with organizations as necessary.

Cloudflare says the complaint to the Notorious Markets list seems intended to pressure the service and shutting them down themselves.

“That is something that we are not obligated to do,” Kramer says.

Rich The Kid’s 83 Babies Artist Lil Tony Arrested For Killing 9-Year-Old Boy: Report

This story is truly heartbreaking. If you’ve been following the rise 83 Babies, the group signed to Rich The Kid‘s Rich Forever imprint, then this will come as a hard pill to swallow. Lil Tony, whose real name is Antonio Davenport, has reportedly been arrested and charged in the murder a nine-year-old who was in the car with his family on the way to get snow cones.

According to a local ABC affiliate, Lil Tony was charged yesterday morning in the murder  Z’Yon Person, who was with his family on the night August 18. Five children were in the vehicle at the time the shooting and Z’Yon’s aunt, who was driving, explained the terrifying moment she lost her nephew.

“I hear a horn and when the horn beeped I looked around,” she reportedly said. “I’m getting ready to turn and…I hear gunshots but I didn’t know they were shooting at me. They’re going to pay. I promise. They’re going to rot in hell for what they did.”

Lil Tony has reportedly been charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, assault with a deadly weapon, possession a firearm by a convicted felon, and more.

We all know how hard Rich The Kid works to build his brand as an entrepreneur and executive. He’s been making moves in the Atlanta and New York scenes but he may want to start distancing himself from Lil Tony. As it is, there’s a good chance the 83 Babies group will continue with Yung Boss Tevo and Setitf83 as the remaining members the collective.

RIP Z’Yon Person.

Nick Mulvey Releases a Vinyl Record Made from Plastic Ocean Garbage

A lot of music artists talk about the environment, but British singer-songwriter Nick Mulvey is cleaning it up.

In partnership with a brewer in Cornwall called Sharp’s Brewery, Mulvey used vinyl made from plastic ocean waste to produce his latest single, which is entitled “In the Anthropocene.”

Only 105 copies of the single have been made.  As each was produced from random ocean waste, each is completely unique. The music, too, has an environmental theme, discussing our responsibility for the world we live in.

Mulvey says that the music is about understanding who we are at a most basic level. He adds that we are living in a time of “urgent global crisis” and this is making us re-examine who we are and the world around us.  He further noted that we must “raise ourselves” to the majestic level of the earth.

Also receiving credit for “In the Anthropocene” is a virtual music artist created by Sharp’s in 2018.  The virtual sidekick is called Keynvor, which is the Cornish word for “ocean.” Universal Music has actually signed Keynvor to a music contract, with all its royalties directed toward an ocean conservation charity called Surfers Against Sewage.  Keynvor’s first project was a song titled “Preservation,” produced in collaboration with composer Sebastian Plano.

James Nicholls, who works for Sharp’s, insists that the Atlantic Ocean is the inspiration for everything that their company does.  He says that they created Keynvor as a way of preserving their coast in Cornwall, and that last year Keynvor helped the ocean by entering the music charts.  He further noted that Mulvey is “turning the tables on the music industry” by making a record from ocean-produced vinyl.

You can buy the record online at musicglue.com, as well as at few select Drift outlets.  Proceeds from the recording will be directed to Surfers Against Sewage.

"The Suicide Squad" Official Cast Revealed By James Gunn

Suicide Squad was a box fice hit, grossing nearly $750 million worldwide. Still, it was widely panned by fans and critics for bad writing and awkward interactions. Fast forward to 2019. A sequel is being put together by James Gunn, who was hired by DC when he was fired by Marvel/Disney. Although Gunn is back with Marvel, he is still working with DC as well. Gunn crafted both Guardians Of The Galaxy films, and enjoyed both box fice success and good reviews. Now, he will take that same energy to the Suicide Squad sequel.

Simply titled The Suicide Squad, the sequel film is a st reboot sorts. A few old cast members are coming back from the original (such as Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller), but there is a long list new faces. Gunn took to social media to introduce the new cast to the world with a promotional poster for The Suicide Squad. Joining the sequel cast is Idris Elba, who was first set to replace Will Smith’s Deadshot, but is now confirmed to be playing an unknown new role. Pete Davidson, John Cena, Jennifer Holland, Michael Rooker, and Sean Gunn also join the cast, with the last two names jumping from Guardians the Galaxy into Suicide Squad. The film is set to debut in August 2021.

Joe Russo Says Spider-Man Leaving The MCU Is "A Tragic Mistake On Sony’s Part"

Things haven’t been the same since Spider-Man left the MCU. It’s only been a few weeks since Disney and Sony’s deal to keep Peter Parker in the MCU evaporated, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe already feels weird without him. Although Spidey was only in phase 3 MCU movies (Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home), Tom Holland played the wall-crawler in more movies than any previous actors. Holland was a shining bright spot in the MCU, and Far From Home was the first Spidey film to hit a billion at the worldwide box fice. All those dollar signs must have blinded both Disney and Sony, who are equally to blame for the breakup. In an interview with the Toronto Sun, Endgame and Infinity War directors Anthony & Joe Russo gave their opinion on the situation.

“It was so difficult to get him into Civil War,” admitted Anthony. “It was an extremely long and hard process. But we were driven to help make it happen. But (Marvel Studios President) Kevin Feige pulled it f, somehow. Disney and all the good people at Sony found a way to make it work and it lasted a few films. We had a wonderful experience with that and I think audiences really appreciated that marriage. But we know how hard that marriage was to make in the first place, so the fact that the marriage fell apart isn’t really that surprising to me and Joe.”

“It was a tenuous, fraught union throughout the whole process,” added Joe. “But, I will say, stepping back and trying to be objective as possible, that I think it’s a tragic mistake on Sony’s part to think that they can replicate Kevin’s penchant for telling incredible stories and the amazing success he has had over the years. I think it’s a big mistake.”

De’Aaron Fox’s NBA 2K20 Dunk Rating Gets Major Boost After He Calls Out 2K

NBA 2K saw De’Aaron Fox’s complaints about his atrocious dunk rating, and they made a point to give him a significant upgrade in the latest update.

The Sacramento Kings’ point guard, who checks in at an 86 overall in NBA 2K20, took to twitter last week when the game ficially released and jokingly called out the powers that be for disrespecting his hops with a 60 rating.

Just days later, 2K issued an update and Fox seems quite pleased with the result, as his dunk rating jumped 20 points to a solid 80.

Fox recently showcased his impressive hops while he was training with Team USA in Las Vegas, which included an f-the-wall between-the-legs dunk, so he is certainly worth the upgrade. As far as the best dunkers in 2K are concerned though, Fox has a long way to go if he wants to reach elite status.

The game’s greatest finishers at the rim are led by New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson who boasts a 97 dunk rating. Zion is followed by two-time Slam Dunk champ Zach LaVine and 2018 dunk contest winner Donovan Mitchell, both whom have a 96 dunk rating. Rounding out the Top 5 is Aaron Gordon (95) and the defending dunk champ, Hamidou Diallo (95).

Live Nation Shows Off Healthy Q2 2019 Earnings — Says Smaller Artist Tours Are Booming

Live Nation has posted encouraging Q2 2019 profits — and Wall Street is taking notice.

Having secured earnings equal to $.41 per share during the second quarter of 2019, Live Nation was able to top the $.39 per-share earnings that experts predicted. It’s also worth noting that many other experts believed that this forecast, $.39 earnings per share, was overly optimistic.

Moreover, the net income specifics are similarly positive, and as a whole, it seems likely that the company will enjoy a highly successful second half of the year.

Second-quarter revenue was up by 10%, and interestingly, Live Nation indicated that revenue from artists outside the top 100 has jumped by nearly a third this year.  In other words, fans of internationally beloved and locally appreciated artists alike are turning to Live Nation for tickets — and that’s important.

Of course, Live Nation is great at painting a glowing picture of things, and that includes presenting its business as well-rounded and diversified.  But there’s evidence that the broader live concert business isn’t just a top-heavy affair, with analyses isolating the top 100 touring artists likely skewed.

Live Nation earned about $3.16 billion during Q2 2019; during the second quarter of 2018, earnings failed to crack $3 billion.

Apparently, Wall Street investors were impressed with and excited by Live Nation’s better-than-expected earnings; the stock (LYV) rose about 2.5% in a single day. Though significant, this growth is minor compared to the astounding value increase the stock has seen during 2019. Having begun the year at less than $50 per share, Live Nation now trades at nearly $75 per share.

That’s right—savvy investors could have earned a 50% profit in less than eight months had they placed an order back in January.

However, hindsight is always 20/20, and though the foundation for Live Nation’s upward trajectory was there at the start of 2019, one would have been hard-pressed to predict this level of success.  A combination of enhanced efforts in the U.S. market and a have allowed Live Nation to reach more clients than ever before.

Lashana Lynch To Portray The New 007 In Upcoming Bond Film: Reports

According to new reports, the Idris Elba theory has fallen flat as the new 007 agent set to replace the image once portrayed by Daniel Craig is actually a black woman, specifically British actress Lashana Lynch.

“There is a pivotal scene at the start the film where M says ‘Come in 007’,” an insider tells the Daily Mail. “And in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman. It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.”

The Mail goes on to clarify, however, that Lynch is not shaking up the entire Bond storyline as she portrays the agent who adopts the codename that James Bond gives up after his departure from MI6.

Lashana Lynch To Portray The New 007 In Upcoming Bond Film: Reports

As it turns out, Bond 25 won’t be without Craig after all as it takes place in Jamaica where the now-retired Bond resides, that is until his retirement is disrupted when M–played by Ralph Fiennes–calls Bond in on another international crisis.

“Bond, course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed. Well, certainly not at the beginning,” the insider details, adding that the label “Bond Girls” is now forbidden. “We were all told that from now on they are to be addressed as ‘Bond Women’.”

On the interesting twist, fans have writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the critically-acclaimed “Killing Eve” series, to thank.

“There’s been a lot talk about whether or not Bond is relevant now because who he is and the way he treats women,” Waller-Bridge previously noted. “I think that’s b******s. I think he’s absolutely relevant now. The franchise] has just got to grow. It has just got to evolve, and the important thing is that the film treats the women properly. He doesn’t have to. He needs to be true to his character.

NFL Looking At 18-Game Season With 16 Games Per Player Limit: Report

NFL owners are constantly looking for ways to increase their prits and commissioner Roger Goodell is usually right there with them. According to a report from the Wall Street JournalGoodell and the rest the owners are actually seriously considering an 18-game and have proposed the idea to the NFL Players Association. What’s interesting about this idea is that it would put a limit on how many games each individual player can participate in. Based on the current proposal, there would be a 16-game limit per player which means teams would have to pick and choose which two games they want to sit players.

Of course, this would create a competitive imbalance at times as teams trying to get into the playfs could be at risk losing out because they have to sit a star player. The idea has already received quite a bit skepticism from the NFLPA with president Eric Winston scfing at the notion.

As right now, owners such as Robert Kraft the New England Patriots and Jerry Jones the Dallas Cowboys have been at the forefront the plan. The NFL thinks this new proposal will actually help the players because they will be able to get larger contracts from the increase in revenue while not having to worry about an uptick in injuries.

It doesn’t appear as though this plan will be approved anytime soon.
